Water Heater Repair And Installation reviews in Yorktown

    Fitch Specialties LLC
Tim and Ray from Fitch Specialties came in and corrected the situation and also pointed out some faulty installation procedures that the builders installers had made. The main one was the condensation line running outside from the unit was too small, and that was why my line was freezing during cold weather. They put in a larger pipe and shored up the water tank that the installer left dangling in the air.

    Just Plumbing
It went OK.  Staff were very courteous when I called, and the technician was polite and timely each time he was here.
The problem is that nothing was fixed other than the hot water heater.  Even that, I have to have it set to a  high setting and sometimes it is scalding, other times just warm.  Replacing the motor for the hot water re circulation system did nothing.  I don't think it was needed as it wasn't very old.  The air hammer arrestor worked for a few weeks and the annoying banging started again, so money spent and no solution.
I've been living with this irritating situation for a a while and I'm going to find another company to fix this.  Any pay for another plumber to get this right.
I just stopped calling Just Plumbing because I got tired of paying for a visit and a "fix" that didn't fix anything.
The review is late.  I've been meaning to write it but kept forgetting.

    STEVE CARSON PLUMBING & SON
Called Christmas morning. They were very friendly and helped ensure that gas and water was cut off for safety despite being Christmas morning. They came first thing they could given holidays and places closed. Installed water heater and did a great job. They are a family business with wife/mom running office and father and son doing the work. They are busy but they are worth it. I have used several big name plumbing companies and been unhappy. This is second time I have used their services both with A+ experience. I would highly recommend them.

    Fitch Specialties LLC
.Called company at 7:57am (they open at 8am) and the owner answer the phone.  After explaining to him that I had a leaking heater "flooding" my garage I asked if he could come and replace the heater.  I told him I had looked him up on Angie's List and wanted to do the job for the price advertised.  He (Tim) asked about height, stand, and flue  characteristics of the current unit.  After giving him the info he said he didn't have a crew available right away but that he could respond and be there (my house) before noon (and would call when he was ~30 mins out).  I got the call about 10am, Tim was at the house with the right size unit by 10:20am  , the unit was removed/replaced, filled and fired-up by 12:10pm.  After removing his tools, cleaning up the small amount of installation debris Tim was on the road with check in hand before 12:30pm.
Overall a very good experience with a professional that was more than able to provide the service I needed at very short notice.  One more comment, Tim bought the unit that morning on my verbal commitment over the phone to hire his company.  When he arrived I reverified with him that he would honor the price given on Angie's list with a hand shake (not a written contract).  This hand shake was honored without any mention about extra fittings, taxes, transportation, removal of the old unit etc.  My receipt was e-mailed to me before he left the premises (he uses those hi-tech touch pads).
      What's not to like.

    Dave's Plumbing
First and foremost, I rarely would review a company on the same day of service. But in this case, I felt obligated to provide details of a very positive experience. I was on my way home for lunch today, and my wife went out to the garage to get something from the refrigerator. She discovered that there was water spraying from the pipe just past the water heater (the output pipe). I ripped the insulation off the pipe to discover what I had feared - that the leak was not coming from a connection, but from the Qest pipe itself (near the wall). Upon the recommendation of my neighbor, and positive reviews on Angies List, I called Dave's Plumbing, and they promptly came out a few hours later. To be fair, I called another company first, but they couldn't come out until the next day.
Upon arrival, Caleb (the owner's son!) quickly diagnosed the problem, and informed me of the resolution. He had to cut out a small section of drywall in my garage (around 4 inches square) due to the location of the leak, but was able to fix the problem in short order. He also educated me on the history of Qest piping, as well as explaining the pros and cons of other plumbing needs I have. I couldn't have been pleased more in what has been a stressful situation.
I would HIGHLY recommend using Dave's plumbing, and I sincerely thank them for their help today!!!

    Claflin Plumbing & Gas Piping
It was a pleasure. Claflin Plumbing is a family business that treats you like you are part of the family. They are knowledgeable, responsive and courteous in all aspects. Donna is a pleasure to deal with and keeps you informed of what?s going on with your job. Steve even registered my water heater for me and resulting warranty work has been quick and efficient. The sewer line job was a bear and they tackled it with ease and would have come out immediately if it was needed.  I will call no one else.

    Air Conditioning Specialists
I don't think I've ever worked with a finer company and crew, and I'm no beginner in the area of hosting contractors at my home.  We started out with an appointment with Scott Hudson, originally to discuss the possibility of cleaning the duct work in our house, and with a secondary desire to discuss replacing the upstairs A/C unit, which has never...from the first year we moved in...successfully maintained a comfortable temperature during the summer.  We suspected that the unit was too small (we had insisted on adding a second A/C for dual-zone climate control prior to purchasing, so it was reluctantly added by the seller), and though it ran constantly during the summer, we generally just avoided the upstairs during the summer as much as possible.  Scott did an extremely thorough inspected of the entire system (outside units, returns, vents, duct work, etc.), noted several problems I had been unaware of (and was able to demonstrate or show me them, they were not theoretical), and sat down to do some calculations.  He told me point blank that I did not need duct cleaning in a house that was just 11 years old, and proceeded to discuss the various options for fixing the upstairs A/C problem.  He gave me a relatively low cost option that would meet my needs, and gave me his card so I could call him if I had any further questions.  When my husband came home, I attempted to pass on all that Scott had covered with me, but knew I really needed to get the two men together so they could discuss.  I was ready to go with the minimum needed to fix the upstairs cooling, but my husband was interested in the dual-fuel heat pumps that Scott had mentioned during the appointment, which were a bit more.  Set up a second appointment that all three of us could make, and ultimately we wound up "up-selling" ourselves (Scott just presented the various options; there was no pressure at all from him).  We not only opted to replaced both A/C units and furnaces with Trane dual-fuel heat pumps, we also decided to replace our tanked water heater with a Rinnai tank-less water heater.  Hence the big price tag associated with this review.  We did have some problems with the upstairs thermostat mis-reading the temperature and overcooling; AC Specialists came out 3 times to work on it (always within 1 day--super responsive), and they ultimately wound up moving the thermostat because it was a house structural problem that was influencing it.  Scott stayed involved as well, wanting to ensure our satisfaction.  Must mention the installation crew....they were spectacular!  We had a swarm of AC Specialists vehicles show up promptly on the first day of install (2 were set aside, just in case, due to the scope of the work).  George was in charge, and I saw him run a quick meeting with the very large group of technicians on the street to review the work and make assignments prior to ringing my doorbell.  Then he came to the door to introduce myself, and each member of his crew politely introduced themselves as they came in.  Every one of them was polite and professional, and put on shoe covers every time they came in the house.  I enjoyed chatting with them throughout the day, even as I observed how focused and intent they were to do the install of each thing exactly right...no cutting corners or attempting to rush.  Despite the huge job...removing old A/Cs and furnaces, removing the tanked water heater, installing heat pumps, furnaces, replacing an under-code vent, replacing thermostats, sealing duct work, installing tankless water heater...they completed the entire job by 5 p.m. (started at 8:00 a.m.).  They were very thorough cleaning up after themselves, and left nothing behind.  I was impressed enough to make a phone call the next day to the owners to let them know how pleased I was, which I've never felt compelled to do before.  Since I was on the phone with the scheduler, we went ahead and made the QC visit appointment a week and a half later.  QC visit was once again professional and thorough, and I was given a folder with all the equipment information.  Later I received a call to schedule the city inspector, which went off without a hitch.  We are now enjoying our new systems, and look forward to continuing to do business with AC Specialists in the future.  Oh, and they also offered the best warranty on everything..10 years parts and labor for the Trane dual-fuel heat pumps, and a respectable warranty on the Rinnai.

    Rons Plumbing & Restoration
Asked for a standard quote for a hot water heater replacement. Stated he
would match the Depot price and do a better job. Shows up 4 hours later
and jacks up the price 50%!! Argumentitive about the job, keeps
yellling to just pay him and give "me the credit card number". Goes on
an on about how his guys have been at work since 7a.m and it is now
10pm, really none of my concern. Would never recommend Ron's for
anything, not trustworthy at all, actually very deceptive.

    Claflin Plumbing & Gas Piping
It went great!  The Claflins were courteous, prompt, professional and focused on the job.  They worked quickly repaired the leaking hot water line, cleaned up after themselves, and charged what I considered an appropriate fee.  I called Friday afternoon, and was told they were booked for the day but could make it Saturday morning for sure.  Saturday morning, Mrs. Claflin called to let me know her husband and son were on their way.   They arrived on time, worked efficiently and got the job done quickly.  Total time was about 1 hour 30 minutes.  I would definitely use them again and have already recommended them to my friends and neighbors.

    Claflin Plumbing & Gas Piping
Our Hot Water Heater went out on Friday, August 2nd. I called Clafflin Plumbing and requested a new 50 gallon high quality water heater to be installed at the earliest possible time. Donna answered the phone and provided every detail for a Saturday or a Monday installation. I chose an early Monday morning installation.
They called and notified us that they were on their way and they were right on time! Once the technician reviewed the situation, he provided his estimate and step-by-step detail of what he would have to do and how long it would take.  All together It took just over two hours.
The technician offered to take the old tank away, but told us a local metal company that would pay us for the old tank. He said he would take the old tank if we wanted him to, but wanted to provide us the opportunity since it was out tank. We returned the old tank and it was worth our time.
I have used Clafflin Plumbing before and once again, this proud family oriented plumbing business was very professional, timely, very Clean (cleaner than when he showed up)... worth every dime!!
