Auto Service reviews in Yorktown

They are excellent. We had free oil changes on our car and have lifetime guarantee on the engine. They have never tried to sell me services I did not need. I would come in thinking I needed something done sometimes and they would tell me there is nothing wrong with that. They explain things well and I would highly recommend them for service.

I got estimates from a few body shops. Aerocolours was the lowest and they looked like a good outfit. They restore custom cars and that takes a lot of TLC so I trusted them to do a good job. They did. They did the work quickly and the car came out looking like new. I had no problems at all with them. Totally satisfied and the price was quite reasonable.

They clean my car, they do everything, I love them.  Yeah vacuum it.  These guys are great, they vacuum it, they are a little hole in the wall place but they are uber nice.  They totally don't try to rip you off or say oh you you need your filter changed when it doesn't, they're like oh you can wait a while to do that.  Yeah they have coffee and television, and bathrooms. Like I said the vacuuming my car is worth it.  I take both of my cars, I take my step daughters car and mine there.

We have two Honda cars, and they service them regularly. They would get all "A"s, that's why I keep going back to them. When I need them, I go back to them. The service manager is a really good guy. He does a good job. He is very conscientious and knows his stuff. I don't like the sales department, but I like the service department. They explain everything and give me options and recommendations. They try to save me money where they can. It's still not cheap. They take good car of the cars and the cars have been running a long time. They give good service, so I have no complaints. I go to them about every six months.

The pricing is reasonable. I went here for some major issues. They replaced the engine mounts, axle bearing, etc. I paid $1,000, but the dealership had quoted me $2,000. They seem to be straight talking, and very honest.

My starter died in my car.  I tried my normal shop but they were busy.  I had never heard of Poquoson Auto Repair, even though I live right outside of Poquoson.  They were great:  I had my car towed and they fixed it the next day.  I thought the price was fair and they were responsive and polite.  I found a new place to take my cars now.

It went well. we had an issue, the first guy that came out it's all coming back to me now the first guy that came out didn't have the right part, they had to come back a second time. a different person who was more knowledgeable had to come back with the correct part the second time.

Day 1: Chose provider Professional Diagnostics & Repair, (hereafter PD&R) for its Angie's List rating and military friendly advertisement. Brought car to garage. Described problem: Car jerking, and loud engine noise like a snapped belt or chain.

Day 4: Garage calls, says car is repaired. Said needed new tires; changed spark plugs and fuel additive added. Stated that there was no noise and they had found no broken belt. Advised that car would "run rough" for a few days. I stated that this "running rough" was one of the original complaints. Told this was a function of the additive.
Day 4: Car did run rough. Started stalling on ride home. We decided that better to get car home (remember, we were told it might "run rough"). Called PD&R when we got home. Manager told us at 5:00 PM that owner himself had worked on car and that he would contact us.
Day 9: Still no contact. Called PD&R. Told that we would have to tow car in at our expense so they could "check their work". Owner stated that he had been in on Saturday waiting for us. When I asked how we were supposed to know this, he blamed his manager for poor communication.
Day 10: Towed car back into PD&R  at my expense. I backed it out of my garage and onto tow truck cables, so car was still running.
Day 11: Received call from PD&R. Told me that they had run my car until it quit, and that it now was not operable. Diagnosed as a fuel pump problem, which they had arranged with a mechanic in RICHMOND to fix. Recall that car was running when they got it, and one of the services they had earlier performed was spark plug replacement, which they were supposed to check under the warranty.
Day 11: Received call from garage in Richmond. Said they could look at car, but stated that details from Professional Diagnostics & Repair had been vague, so were not sure what they were supposed to be doing.
Day 11: Towed car to Richmond at my expense. Garage in Richmond stated that spark plugs were incredibly fouled (recall that PD&R was supposed to check this). Long story short, the culprit was a broken timing chain. Much like the noise we described on Day 1.  And the source of the fouled spark plugs. Had assumed that PD&R had checked spark plugs since this was under warranty. Spark plugs could not have gotten fouled on the tow truck. No explanation forthcoming from PD&R.
Day 13: Drove to Richmond to collect car. Paid for their services, to include new spark plugs.
So: A misdiagnosis, two tows and  a round-trip from Yorktown to Richmond, plus two sets of spark plugs and labor, all at my expense. Professional Diagnostics & Repair refused to refund or reimburse anything but the diagnostic charge, a little over $90.00.
A condition for accepting this check was that I not review my experience. I shredded the check.

Ray suggested that I purchase mats for the floor of the rear seating, as he said that maintaining the carpet is so important. That was helpful. He said that some of the spots I could still see on the car's exterior would be eliminated if I were to get the car waxed. He quoted me a price for that service, if I decide to have him do that at a later time.

In general, I was pleased with the service, and felt that the discounted price was about what I felt Ray did for my car. Later, after he'd  left, I opened the trunk (which I'd made a point of cleaning out before he came) and noticed he hadn't vacuumed it. That was unusual, especially since he hadn't mentioned to me that he hadn't done it. Perhaps it was an oversight? In any case, that was the only thing I was less than pleased with.

They were great. I had a $1,000 deductible so the total would have been about $2,500. They are one of the premier dealers for State Farm, which is our insurance company so I would rate them pretty high. The only problem I had was that they did not really clean the back seat like they should have, but that was really minor in the whole scheme of things. When I called and reported that she said bring it in any time and they would do a wash and vacuum job on it. They had it done ahead of time than what they had quoted me. I did not have any problems with them.
