Transmission Service reviews in Woodbridge

    County Transmissions Inc.
It went very well. The entire staff was always courteous. I felt like I received an honest assessment of my vehicle, even took care of an additional repair that would have been much more costly later (would've required transmission to be removed again). It was half the cost of another quote I received, and I feel like I have a new vehicle. They were the highest rated transmission shop in the area...for very good reasons! I would definitely recommend this establishment to others.

Took two days to get truck back. Phone estimate was $474.15, but when I came to pick up the truck the bill was $528.70. In Virginia estimates must be in writing to be binding, so I was out of luck.
Note: Cowles Parkway Ford is the new name for Cowles Ford that used to be in business on rte. 1 in Woodbridge.

They initially estimate it would take all day.  The first day they called in the late afternoon and stated they needed to keep the car one more day.  I called in the afternoon the second day to find out when my car would be ready.  They said they needed it a third day and offered to set me up with a rental car, unfortunately I was working 6am-6pm and could not be there when they were available to sort the rental car out.   The kept my car another two days, on the fourth day it took multiple phone calls to get the service person Matt on the phone.  He said they were still working on the diagnosis, he was polite but since he said after 4 days they still didn't even know what the problem was I asked that they just return my car by the end of the day and stated I did not want them to continue to do any work on the vehicle.
Magically, about an hour before I was supposed to pick up my vehicle they figured out what was wrong.  They then proceeded to tell me the camera had failed and I needed a new one and the air conditioner had a flap that had fallen down and needed to be fixed but it was a significant labor repair and would cost hundreds of dollars.  I repeated that I did not want them to continue working on my car and I wanted it returned.  Additionally, I reminded them I had reported these issues multiple times since I purchased the car (at least 3 different occasions for the rear view camera - they never identified a problem UNTIL the warranty ran out and suggested I purchase a new camera at full cost).
When I went to pick up my car they charged me over $200 for diagnostic fees since I declined the repairs - THIS WAS AFTER THEY TOLD ME THEY DID NOT KNOW WHAT WAS WRONG WITH THE CAR AND I DECLINED ANY FURTHER SERVICE AND ASKED FOR THE VEHICLE TO BE RETURNED AS IS.   I complained directly and was told all the members of the service department had left for the day and they would not release my car without payment.  Since I needed my vehicle I paid the fee and requested the service manager contact me as soon as possible.  A day went by and no contact was made.  I called the service center and was told the manager was on vacation but they would have him return my call when he came back.
I made multiple calls to their service center, I believe one message was returned but it was while I was working and my return calls were never answered.  They did absolutely nothing to remedy the situation.

I was having trouble with my transmission on my 2003 Acura TL and my longtime mechanic didn't work on transmissions, and highly recommended that I take my vehicle to County Transmission due to their successful reputation.  I'm glad I did, I spoke to Hampton over the phone and we can to an agreement on the price, the vehicle was serviced and completed in less than 72 hrs.  I appreciate the professionalism the company displayed and I will definitely recommend my family and friends them in the future.  Also, thanks to Jean for being so courteous and professional over that phone, as I had many questions.  Thanks and Happy New Year!

    Caton's Auto Repair
The whole process was great. My wife's brakes suddenly went out on her way home from work. She nursed the vehicle home. I checked the brake fluid and the reservoir was empty. I added brake fluid, got in and pumped the brakes, I could here the fluid shooting out onto the ground. This was not good. We called Caton's and they said they could take it so we towed it there. The next day I got a call and a quote to replace all the lines running behind the gas tank (the tank had to be removed for this). When I went to pick it up the next day they told me they also found the front brake pads needed replaced. The price was still the quoted amount. They didn't charge me more to do the job right. I'm glad I found these guys this is the second time I've used them and both times the job was done right.

Woodbridge Auto Repair/Goodyear Tire Center prices were reasonable. Everything was good. He was very friendly, he explained everything, he works with you, and if you call to talk to him he will call you back when he has a moment.

    Lyon's Automotive Center
Outstanding. Lyons has serviced all of my cars for at least 15 years. Work is always exceptional. But the most important reason I stay with Lyons is the owner is honest, insists on doing quality work, and never tries to sell you something you don't need. He will offer advice on suggested work and explain the consequences of not doing a recommended repair. But he never offers a service just to make more money.

For this repair, the transmission line was changed out and the radiator hoses replaced. I noted a significant coolant leak after getting it back and Lyons did a pressure check and found a lower radiator hose clamp was defective and replaced it and topped off the lost fluid at no charge. I called in advance and they did the pressure check right away when I arrived at the shop (about 40 minutes for the entire checkout and repair). They are always courteous and responsive when I think something might need another look and this repair was just as I've always experienced in the past. As FYI, they are not open on weekends, so you have to take that into account if time is a factor for you.

    Toledo Auto Care
Very well. I have this preventive work done when I'm visiting my sister in Toledo. It's appreciably less expensive than having it done in Northern Virginia.

Job went very well. A little pricey but probably would have cost a lot more at the dealership.
