AMasonry Specialist LLCThis professional company is EXCELLENT and other companies would benefit from following their example. Their company marketing material was professional - without asking for it, it included information on their license and their insurance. Their proposal was professional - it was sent in electronic form and had photo examples of the type of work they would be performing. Their customer service was FIRST CLASS. They contacted me the day before they began their work to tell me what to expect. Since we were not going to be home during the install, I asked them to take photos of the work as it progressed. They did, but told me that they do this as standard practice. Other companies quoted a two week install - this crew did it in TWO DAYS, with an attention to detail that was impressive. When the job was finished, we had a few minor areas that needed to be addressed, the owner of the company promptly resolved those issues THE NEXT DAY. We didn't have to wait a week, or for their schedule to open up. You will get MORE than you pay for and I would highly recommend this company for masonry projects. Rest assured, you will be impressed and pleased with their work - but that is what you get when you hire professionals that specialize in their trade.- Jeff S.

AJW Home ImprovementBob was great! He is a craftsman to be admired. Unfortunately, good quality takes time, so the estimates were a bit low since the estimator did not really understand what was involved in the work. So, for the time we had Bob, he & his assistant did great work. The company went out of their way to schedule us before the holidays AND made sure to put the right employee on the job for the work to be done. The following work was done: fence repair, garage ladder installed, a bit of masonry repair, gutter diverter (specialty gutter companies had not come up with a solution), and faux ceiling beams installed. The work was done over about 10 days.- Krystol S.

APhoenix Home Services IncPhoenix did an absolutely amazing job from the very first phone call to the final walk through...I could not have asked for any better service or end product. Clint Asmar did a terrific job of designing our (approximately 1000 sf) stone patio and (approximately 700 linear feet) wooden fence. He quickly produced a computerized, detailed graphic of the whole project based on an in-depth discussion with my wife and I. He then happily made the few adjustments we asked for, provided us the documents we needed to seek HOA approval, and then got the job scheduled. The workers who completed the work were very professional, easy to communicate with, and listened to/addressed our every need. Amazingly, either Clint or one of his Senior Team peers were on site every day of the project to ensure all went right. Their material and processes for installing them were spot on...far above what we found from other companies who we considered. We never once worried about any aspect of the job as the work crew and Phoenix leadership truly wanted to produce a top-notch product in a very reasonable amount of time...and they did. Once completed, the team cleaned up the area perfectly and did a thorough walk-through to make sure our every need was addressed. Seriously, this company has a passion for what they do...and they do unparalleled work and provide A+ service at every turn. I don't normally write reviews, but these guys deserve it and I can say with confidence you will absolutely love working with this team.- Kevin S.

AGreen Lady Masonry and Drainage Solutions LLCDeborah and Geraldo came up with a simple, but lovely solution. We had a beautiful fieldstone wall installed around the stairs which absolutely transformed the look of our house. All our neighbors commented on how great it looked and we agreed. The craftsmanship that went into building the stone wall was incredible! The additional landscaping and plantings were tidy, attractive, and a great complement to the wooded areas around our house. We were so happy with their work and our house sold in 1 day!- Maria K.

FNorthern Virginia asphaltI needed to get my backyard done and my boyfriend recommended his friend Johnny George from Northern Virginia asphalt. My boyfriend informed me he was very professional and very good at what he does. When I originally spoke with Johnny via telephone, all I wanted was to lay some gravel down in the entire backyard which he quoted me $1500 for and I thought was fair. He kept saying since I was his friend's girlfriend he would look out for me and give me a discount. After meeting with Johnny and him taking a look at my property he upsold me and told me that he could do the following: Put 2x2s at the bottom of my left fence and seal it with cement so a large gap that was present would be filled and the gravel would not go into the neighbors yard. Level the yard so water would run down and away from the house. Lay gravel all over the areas where the bricks did not touch. Make a grey horizontal stone patio out of left over materials he had from a previous project at a discounted price. Spray paint a concrete slab in front of the door a dark grey to match the grey stone patio. Properly dispose of all unwanted materials. Use existing red bricks I had wanted to be taken up and could make a walk path out of those which would connect to the grey stone patio and lead out to the back gate. Make a threshold on the back gate. He told me he would install the grey patio going horizontal from one fence across to the other. He said it would cost me $4,000 dollars with a $2,600 down payment. I thought this was a WONDERFUL idea and the price was great, so I agreed and thanked him multiple times, I was extremely excited. My boyfriend and I asked if he wanted us to draw him up blue plans for this project after speaking so we could stick to our agreed upon design. Johnny declined stating the project was small and he did not need one. I drafted a contract for both of us to sign since it was such a large project and he declined that as well and did not sign it. I trusted his word since he was the professional, a friend and I had no experience in this field. He called me the day before the project would start and informed me to leave the back gate open so he and his team could get back there to work while I was at work. I agreed and thought it was great and said thank you. I was so excited to see the work when I got home. Upon arriving I was immediately upset! The entire layout we agreed to was different. Instead of one horizontal grey patio Johnny took it upon himself to make two small patios going vertically against one side of one fence. One patio was made of the grey bricks and instead of making a red bricked pathway, he made a red patio in front of the grey patio. He also used 5 of these very ugly light brown brick slabs I wanted gone and cemented them down making an awkward pathway that only goes half way thru the yard. He also made a very sloppy threshold and now my back gate does not close because cement is protruding out. Johnny never reached out to me or my boyfriend and informed us of changing the layout, he did not inform me about not having enough materials, and he just decided to make changes on his own without my knowledge. I spoke to Johnny in a very polite manner and let him know this is not what we agreed upon nor what I envisioned it would look like and I did not like it. He proceeded to say he knew it was not but, there were not enough grey bricks to make a horizontal patio and there was not enough red bricks to make a path way. He told me to trust him, that he is experienced and it will be nice. I said ok hesitantly, I did not want to argue or cause any friction between him and my boyfriend so I thanked him for the work done so far and walked away very worried. The job started on April 23rd 2017 and ended April 24th 2017. He told me he had to hurry up since he had a large church parking lot job to get started on. I paid Johnny the remaining money and chatted a bit with him in my front yard. I shook his hand and said thank you for everything. After Johnny left my home I thoroughly reviewed his work and I broke down crying! I HATED it. Johnny did not level the yard, he did not gravel everywhere and in some areas there was not enough gravel, the 2x2s were not long enough at the bottom of the fence and a large whole in the corner was left open, there was no gravel to the left backside of the yard at all, the grey slab he spray painted started to chip, he informed me there was not enough red bricks to make a path way yet I noticed Johnny threw a LOT of my red bricks down into a creek I had behind my back gate. If I did not have enough bricks for a pathway, then why were there close to 100 bricks thrown down in the creek. He also threw black planters I had told him I no longer wanted down into the creek along with a blue tarp that was mine. He left the plastic he laid down before laying the gravel down exposed and noticeable, he did not trim the plastic at all. My boyfriend reached out to him calling him, texting him and messaging him on social media and Johnny did not respond for days. I asked Johnny for an itemized list of cost for materials and labor for my records and he never responded; before the project started I asked for pictures of the grey bricks and never received it. When Johnny finally responded to my boyfriend, Johnny told my boyfriend that no one wanted to spend money on this project and I was being cheap. He also stated I never said thank you or appreciated his work, he said that I was aggressive. None of this was true, I thanked Johnny even when I shouldnt have, the original project was only going to cost me $1500 and I spent an additional $2500 because I fell in love with the original plans Johnny told me he could do. But, regardless of this Johnny NEVER reached out to anyone about changing plans or even expressing he was short on materials. If he would have communicated he was short on materials I would have had no problem spending a little more on the project. In fact, I had to go out and buy 6 bags of gravel from Homedepot and lay the remaining gravel myself, I had to cut the exposed plastic and go down into the creek to get my tarp. Everything about Johnny George and this project was HIGHLY unprofessional and unwanted. I was going to use him again to touch up my front yard but, after all of this I wont even recommend him to anyone. It has taken me a long time to write a review because I really do not like to speak ill about people even when I am done wrong but, this past weekend I notice bricks are shifting and the middle of the patio has sunken in slightly. I am getting upset all over again; issues from this project keep arising. Johnny did not keep his word on what he would do, he was not responsive after the fact and I felt he completely rushed the job so he could start another. Not a smart business move because now there is a very unhappy client that will let people know to stay clear of his work. In fact my neighbors requested his information but, I told them what happened and they quickly said never mind. I understand I am at fault also here in some ways like, I should have: 1. Never paid the remaining balance if I was not happy. 2. I should have made Johnny do the layout as originally discussed no matter if bricks were already laid. 3. Never trusted his word because he was a friend. Or cared about causing friction in a friendship because this was business and my home. 4. Done this review way earlier. Hindsight is 20/20 and I will NEVER allow this type of situation to happen again. I just needed people to know so they can avoid using him and making the same mistake I did.- Natasha P.

AApex Masonry LLCJames and Peter did a wonderful job. True craftsmanship, very meticulous. In addition to the quality of work, they were punctual, cleaned up and provided excellent communication throughout the week long project. Extremely courteous. After seeing pictures of the type of flagstone we wanted they went to a local vendor and purchased the flagstone. The rock was cut to fit on site. The project including the flagstone cost $3100- Keith S.

ASixpenny Chimney SweepsSix penny did an excellent job. If I had a complaint the only thing would be that when I booked the work they were not clear that all three jobs would be done by three different sets of workers. I thought I'd be waiting for workers during the 4 hour window they gave me and indeed the first worker showed up. But in total I was waiting for many many extra hours. But hey, misunderstandings happen and when I contacted Six Penny to disc as it they resolved the issue and compensated me for my time with my bill. I would absolutely use them again. The work was thorough, in line with the estimates they gave me, and they cleaned up all materials before they left.- Niki L.
