    VALLEY EMERGENCY VETERINARY
    Please please do NOT take your pet to Valley Vet Emergency Center in Winchester, VA. They are all inexperienced and heartless. They killed my cat. Our regular vet said a sedative could be harmful and they gave him one anyway. I���m fairly certain they sent us home with a dead cat after $700 later. They won���t refund any of my money. I have heard they are very money hungry.

    Valley Veterinary Emergency and Referral Center
    I would highly recommend Valley Veterinary Emergency and Referral Center for those times when your pet is ill and you either can't get into your vet or it is outside of your vets normal business hours. We arrived and my pet was seen within about 7 minutes. We had a diagnosis within about 15 minutes. She was given antibiotics, sub-q fluids and pain meds along with other recommendations. Everyone I encountered from the front desk to the vet were professional, warm, and showed care and concern for my pet. I have no complaints. I saw some Google reviews where people complained about the charges but I thought Valley Veterinary's prices were fair considering they are an emergency facility and they are actually more reasonable than other Northern Virginia emergency pet facilities that I have gone to in the past.

    Berryville Avenue Veterinary Clinic
    We brought our new puppy here, as a new client, after showing up on time, they informed me I was 30 minutes late, which I was not, nor did they call the day before to confirm the appointment. We then sat and waited before being told we could not be seen as the Dr had to be in court.... The receptionist, who was very rude to begin with, then proceeded to say we could not be seen because we were late, which we were not, and then cut me off and in a very rude, and sparky tone told me to be quiet and let her talk. I confirmed the appointment when I made it 3 times, and then shortly after we arrived, another family arrived, and was told they were also late. Seems to be they have a scheduling issue. I also have worked in this industry for many years, and never have I spoken to a client in such a disrespectful tone, or demeanor. I guess the clinic must be doing very well financially to be able to provide such atrocious service to new clients since they obviously don't need the business. Would never recommend this place. The only person who was at all respectful and friendly was the woman who does the grooming.

    In my opinion they undercharge. I wouldn’t see why they shouldn’t raise their rates for comparatively what things cost, but just I think Dr. Davis has been very old-school, so he’s not concerned about money-making, he’s just concerned about taking care of animals. Their service and people are good. Now, if you are looking for something that's got pretty painted walls and all of that then you aren't looking for a real veterinarian. He is an older guy, so the place is older, but for care of your animal and the care of the people there, they are really good. They are starting to take appointments, but it used to be first-come, first serve.

    I have been using this veterinary provider for all my cats (four of them) for several years now, and I have always been pleased. The prices are very reasonable, sometimes much more so than the prices charged by other veterinarians in the area (Dr. Pfouts offers a senior citizen discount). Veterinary assistants Dee, Megan, and Kent are all professional, courteous, and kind-hearted; everyone there cares a lot about the well-being of animals, as well as their owners. I have never been able to give a cat a pill (all those jokes about possibly ending up in a hospital after trying it are true!) but I have been able to take my cats to the vet's office every day they needed a pill and the vet assistants administered the needed pill - at no cost to me. I cannot overstate the value of this service!

    SILVER SPRING VETERINARY HOSP
    We moved to Winchester early summer so we did not have a vet here yet.  Called several before we found one, Dr. Salem, who could see her on Friday versus waiting until the following week.  He did a thorough new patient exam and blood work and urinalysis.  We knew she needed a prescription for the Proin for the leaking urine.  However, then he said our dog had Lyme disease which surprised us since she had been treated with Frontline Plus (and tested negatively 6 months prior).  
    Dr. Salem gave her an injection of penicillin ($35), a 4 week dosage of antacids ($38.72) and antibiotic ($48) as well as the Proin (40 tablets for $48) for the urinary incontinence.  He said the Frontline Plus wasn't working on animals any longer and we needed the new brand that was only available from Vets called Vectra (3 applications for $52.23).  With the exam and blood work added the visit was $670.76.  When I got home I checked the price of the antibiotics, antacids and Proin online and it would have been $67 cheaper online.  :-(
    Dr. Salem said to come back in four weeks for the follow-up Lyme vaccination, which we did today (10/24/13).  He took her temperature and looked in her ears (which she has never had ANY issues with her ears) and then said she need this special Dechra Malacetic Otic Cleanser.  I asked if it could be purchased online and he said "No, only from Vets."  I then asked him for another prescription for the Proin.  He started to fill it himself and I told him I only needed the prescription that I was going to get it filled online.  He handed me the prescription and I asked him if he knew why I wasn't purchasing the medication from him.  He didn't so I explained that upon checking the cost of the medications his Proin was $1.20 a tablet and I could get it online for $.36 a tablet.  He said he was charging me $15 just for writing the prescription since he wasn't filling it.  When I asked him why he circled his Vet License # on the prescription and said because that license cost $400 a year.  
    I was just dumbfounded.  He charged me $45 for an office visit (he weighed her, took her temperature and looked in her ears), $32 for the Lyme vaccination, $23.25 for the Dechra Malacetic Otic Cleanser and then $15 for the prescription.  A total of $115.25.
    I understand the fee for the office visit and the vaccination fee.  When I got home, I checked online about the special ear cleanser and it was $9.99 for the exact same bottle and you do NOT need a prescription to buy it.  He was not truthful.
    I will not be taking our dog back to him.  It is important to me to know the person caring for my pet is honest.  Gouging prices for medications and then lying about it "only available through Vets" is totally unacceptable.

    I walked in without an appointment. Didn't have a regular vet, and their office was closest to my house. I was very upset because my dog was very sick....drooling and falling down. Colby was the receptionist, she was extremely kind and scheduled me for an appointment later that day. Gracie, my golden, saw Dr. Andrea,she was very concerned about Gracie, but not judgemental...as I probably should have taken Gracie to a vet when I noticed she was scratching her ears frequently. Dr. Andrea was kind and wanted to help, I felt really good to be in their hands. She diagnosed Gracie, answered all of my questions, and said to call if Gracie did not improve. The visit was 59.00, which I thought was very reasonable. The medication was close to 200.00. They were happy to separate the medication doses to my budget, for example, I paid for three days worth of medication until I got paid, then picked up the remainder of the prescription. I will be taking Gracie for a followup soon. I hope they will become Gracies regular veterinarian.I will strongly recommend Linden Heights!

    Apple Valley Animal Hospital
    I came home from work one morning to find my dog (Jax)  had blood in his stool and was not feeling well. I called the Vet right away, told them what was going on and they made room in their schedule for me to bring Jax in for an exam within the hour. They did not charge me for an emergency visit. We where brought back to an exam room right away and shortly after, a technician came in and did a quick physical exam and asked some basic questions. The technician was very nice, and Jax got along with her very well.  A few short minutes later the Veterinarian walked in, did her own exam and asked some more questions. She was very nice and full of information. We talked about what could posibly be causing Jax's current condition and after coming up with a few different possibilities she placed him on a deworm medication as well as a anti-diarrhea medication and gave me some advice on changing his diet, just temporarily. The entire staff was very kind and helpful. They seamed to genuinely care about the well being of Jax. They did a fantastic job at putting my mind at ease and reassuring me that Jax was going to be just fine. The only drawback to this Veterinarians office is, to me the prices seamed a little steep. The total cost for this visit was around $150. I would recommend this vet to anyone and will continue to bring Jax there.

    They have a newly renovated office that is bright and clean. Staff varies from very friendly/helpful to sullen- though generally positive.
    I watched them make a woman pay $8-something for a bill before they would release the ashes of her pet. Really? $8?
    At the same time, they have lots of equipment and space for surgery, and spoke with another woman who said they saved her cat w/emergency surgery. No details...
    Bottom line, they charge a lot, sometimes reminds me of a car mechanic. But they are convenient, and probably no worse than any other vet service.

    They have been very helpful. The people there are very good do deal with. The problem is the time that they took on customers. The price they charge was quite high. Overall they did an excellent service on my pet.
