  • They're good.  The fellow that came out to do the estimate, he was very good.  I called a lot of people and they were not so professional.  He was very professional.  The people came and did the work.  They came at their prescribed time and worked away.

  • It went really well although somewhat longer than anticipated. Brett, and his team are very attentive to detail and are completely professional with their work. When I went out of town for about three weeks in February, I left a key with Brett so he and his team could continue with the work. They always locked the house when leaving for the day.. I was never disappointed. The house was always left clean which my wife really appreciated. They even did some extras like installing my new TV and sound system at no extra cost. The project was completed to my complete satisfaction and in budget.

  • Karbyte Contracting LLC was honest. He had wonderful ideas and he would be great for the most beautiful house, but we couldn't afford it. By the time we made all the improvements, we had to sell the house, to pay for all the loans it took to do the changes. That was a big issue with me, because it costs a lot of problems. He had very strong tastes and it wasn't really my taste. He pushed his own ideas on us. It was not my taste in the end and we couldn't afford it. It was no longer my home when he was finished. I would recommend him if someone has unlimited money or is about to really control the amount spent. But it didn't work for us. I just wanted the dining room and living room floors replaced but he replaced all of it. He did things that were very expensive and necessary. They did a very nice job upstairs. I didn't think the garage door needed to be replaced, but by the time I realized what was going on, it was too late. We didn't have a clear understanding of the amount of money he was spending. I did tell him no a few times, but he would do things like say we had a limited number of time and could only use one of two possible paint colors and things like that, really limiting my choices. I preferred a lot of things how they were before the changes were done. He didn't cheat us or try to give us anything that was lower quality. I never went back there because it was no longer my home. It was very traumatic -- the length of time it took and what was done. I got physically sick. We were living in hotels and temporary apartments. It was just not a good experience. He did a good job and we were able to sell the home quickly when we needed to. He took about five months to do it, but I don't think that was too much. It was a big job. His communication was not good.  His work was great in the end and the house stood out.

  • Marshall (and his brother Donald) worked with us to develop a plan to make the existing builder's deck more functional (and I"m probably not the most decisive person!). He kept the flooring (could have told me it needed replacing, but he said it was very sound) and moved the staircase for me, building wider stairs to a landing and a mid-level 10x14 deck, and replacing the railing (all for $250 more than I'd been quoted JUST for the stairs elsewhere). He was very attentive to my needs/function of the space and went above and beyond to build a deck that would meet our family's specific needs.

He broke the job into stages that could be done incrementally as stand-alone jobs so I could pay as I went (my request). So phase 1 was the staircase move, lower deck, stairs to ground level, and railing. If I didn't do anything else for a few months, this would look "finished."

Phase 2 was the addition of a ground level decking (27 x 16) plus seating areas, steps, some sidewalk work, etc. Marshall was creative in his suggestions for my challenging (read: wildly sloping) yard and made alternate suggestions to save me money and give me more usable space.

The next phase will be an extension of the upper deck all the way across my house in back, plus an enclosure and a porch roof to top it all off.

Marshall showed up promptly, worked diligently, brought a professional crew when warranted, stayed at budget, finished earlier than expected, and cleaned up nicely. He and his crew were a joy to work with and were more than patient with me.
The job is well done; you can tell he is a good carpenter and did not cut any corners to give me a quality job. For example, he used screws vs nails, good lumber, has nice finishes, enclosed edges, enclosed riser areas in all steps (vs open stairs). He was very conscientious about the safety of our guests who will use the deck.

He is a full-service builder/contractor who also replaced my roof and I am sure I will be using him for more jobs in the future. I'd be happy for him to know I'd referred you to him so he knows how pleased I was with the job.

  • I did not realize how good a job and professional Jerry and his crew was until I moved to Virginia and had a similar job done here from an Angie's List professional with an A rating. We had three quotes for our basement in Colorado. Jerry's was not only the lowest but also the most complete and he had the best knowledge of the local building codes (we had concern about framing around our furnace). He quoted 10 weeks to do the job and was done in 11. Anything we had questions on he was quick to answer and either comply or tell us why what we wanted would not work in our limited space. We followed his advice and I think the job that they did in our basement was one of the major factors in us being able to sell our house in 2010 in 6 weeks when others were sitting on the market for months. This is completely unsolicited from him but others in the Parker, Colorado area who are thinking or remodeling I would advise to at least give CID a call.

  • great follow-up and they were obviously not interested in taking advantage of the situation by offering several options.
