Home Warranty reviews in Winchester

First American Home Buyers Protection Corporation
I had First American when I first bought the house. They had trouble finding technicians in our area, so they often had me outsource the job. So after that first year, I switched companies. Then I realized how good I'd had it! Same tech issues elsewhere, but I waited months for reimbursement.

Switched back to First American last October. The sales rep was very knowledgeable and helpful.
Within six weeks, three appliances went on the fritz simultaneously: The upstairs heater had issues. First American (FA) arranged for service immediately and covered the $237 bill, except the $55 service call charge. The $181 to replace the heating element of the clothes dryer was covered except the $55 service charge. And the $400+ charge to replace the electronic instrument panel of my range was covered except the $55. In each case, I paid only the $55 service fee.

Recently, my hot water heater began to act up and the backyard hose bibb continued to leak, so we called First American. They sent a technician who insisted the water heater should be replaced and gave us a quote on the hose bibb as well. This technician did not keep either of his appointments; this was not under the warranty company's control. When they discovered he had not shown up, they offered for me to find my own tech and get reimbursed. FA offered to provide the new hot water heater so I would need to pay up front the labor cost and then parts for the hose bibb only, not the entire project.

I filed the claim on Friday, July 22, and my check arrived in the mail on Monday, August 1, just six business days after filing (they had told me it may take 7-10 days). The entire job was over $1000; I ultimately paid only the $55 service fee because I immediately received my $481 outside-contractor labor payment back (and they provided a new 50-gall hot water heater).

I did not have to "fight" with them to cover any of my appliances. They trusted the judgment of their technicians. And they covered all they had agreed to cover in my contract, in a timely and professional manner. I plan to stay with them as my warranty company.
