    Handyman Connection of Winchester
I liked their professionalism with keeping me updated and calling with reminders. I like that everyone is certified and licensed and experienced. Terry was great and personable. He cleaned up any mess and showed me how the storm doors worked. All in all, a great experience!

    Renovation Concepts
PJ was the only contractor we contacted that was willing to come to our home and take a look before providing an estimate. Everyone else used photos but also made the incorrect assumption about how our front porch was originally constructed and what the issue behind the crumbling was. The process itself was stretched out over two weeks roughly, but that was mainly because of the weather. PJ made a point to keep us constantly updated about when things would stop or resume. We also greatly appreciate that they lengthened the original rails to match the slightly larger stoop. We'll probably reach out once we're ready to do work on our basement!

    Handyman Connection of Winchester
The handyman named David that was sent for the job was polite at first, then as the project continued on, made some rather off color comments that were unappreciated but ignored because I wanted the job finished. It took several days to complete the job and at the end, the job was NOT done right. The handyman was adamant that he had completed the service correctly and insisted that the door was faulty. I called Home Depot where I purchased the door, they sent 2 specialist out to the house and within 15 min they found that the door was indeed installed incorrectly. I called Handyman Connection and they sent David back out to fix the door, at no extra cost. He again made some off color remarks and again I ignored them because I just wanted the door fixed properly. I was still not satisfied when he finished, but he stated there was nothing else he could do. I waited a day or so then called the company back and insisted they send a different handyman out to correct the mistakes. The company asked for reasons why I was requesting someone else and I explained everything to them. The woman I spoke with was very apologetic and insisted that the problem would be addressed. A different handyman came out to correct the job and he did a wonderful job and was very polite. He refused to leave until I was completely satisfied. I am unsure if I would use this company again. If I do, I will request the second handyman that came out and did the job right.

    Roofing & More Inc
They are hit or miss but certainly better at roofing than anything else they do.  I had them install a new front door at a cost of over $6000.00 which was custom and his guy measure the door opening incorrectly so they had to modify the opening.  An install that should have taken a couple of day took a week.  They sealed the roof on my bump out and did a great job.  Depends who comes out to do the work and he is not cheap.  If you have a roof job than they do well otherwise find someone else.

    Karbyte Contracting LLC
Karbyte Contracting LLC was honest. He had wonderful ideas and he would be great for the most beautiful house, but we couldn't afford it. By the time we made all the improvements, we had to sell the house, to pay for all the loans it took to do the changes. That was a big issue with me, because it costs a lot of problems. He had very strong tastes and it wasn't really my taste. He pushed his own ideas on us. It was not my taste in the end and we couldn't afford it. It was no longer my home when he was finished. I would recommend him if someone has unlimited money or is about to really control the amount spent. But it didn't work for us. I just wanted the dining room and living room floors replaced but he replaced all of it. He did things that were very expensive and necessary. They did a very nice job upstairs. I didn't think the garage door needed to be replaced, but by the time I realized what was going on, it was too late. We didn't have a clear understanding of the amount of money he was spending. I did tell him no a few times, but he would do things like say we had a limited number of time and could only use one of two possible paint colors and things like that, really limiting my choices. I preferred a lot of things how they were before the changes were done. He didn't cheat us or try to give us anything that was lower quality. I never went back there because it was no longer my home. It was very traumatic -- the length of time it took and what was done. I got physically sick. We were living in hotels and temporary apartments. It was just not a good experience. He did a good job and we were able to sell the home quickly when we needed to. He took about five months to do it, but I don't think that was too much. It was a big job. His communication was not good.  His work was great in the end and the house stood out.

    Handyman Connection of Winchester
They were the best! They had to come out twice due to the amount of work I needed, but started right away. They were timely and truly worked to keep the prices low on materials. I was very impressed with the quality of the work and would hire them again, if need be.

    Weimer Installations
Weimer Installations he was excellent.  He came over, I had a hard time getting someone out, I was putting my house on the market to sell it and my front door, I had some little things around the house, little things that had to get repaired before I could sell the house, one of the problems was the lock on my front door, so I went and bought a new lock.  And because my house is a little bit older the size of the deadbolt was different.  So I said I can't, I had to drill this in, I can't do this, so I called him to do that.  And then the man is so talented, he was actually able to repair and fix my old lock, so it worked perfectly, he saved me the money.  He saved me $200 for the lock.  He fixed it.  I was able to bring back the old lock and get my money back for that.  And then he came over, I had a little problem with some construction tape something, like the walls when you drywall corners you have to tape and put the stuff over it, a couple places with that tape was pealing by the ceiling and someone told me that they they couldn't be fixed because I have textured ceilings and it would look really bad if you tried to fix it.  It was better to leave it as it was.  But I changed Realtors and my Realtor said no, no you need to get that fixed so I'll see if I can get someone to come out here and do some crown moulding because I don't know what else to do.  So he came out and looked at it and said I can fix that, you don't need the crown moulding. He fixed that, you can't even tell that there was a problem there.  The construction guy told me there was no way it could be fixed. And my Realtor came back and she looked and she said wow, you can't tell that was there.  He is really, really talented.  I got a verbal referral from a friend of mine.  I know he does a lot of fancy carpentry work.  My job was smaller but he does larger jobs too. He does kitchen remodels and stuff.  But he will do the smaller jobs.  He is my go to person from now on.  I referred him to friends already.  I highly recommend him.  He is good.

    American Home Pride
The price was very competitive. It included material and labor. Their quality was better than other contractors who have done work for us. can't even tell that he cut out the drywall and replaced it. For responsiveness, they were right there and on time. They kept everything very clean, put tarps down everywhere. You couldn't even tell there had been a construction company here. He was on time, he is good about his word, very clean.

    Great American Log Homes
This project was designed to be done in several affordable stages, with each a stand-alone project that did not look like we hadn't finished our job. For example, the stairs and landing were done in such a way that if we never did anything more, it would look complete. (See individual earlier stages in other reviews) What started as my hope to just afford to move the stairs ended up being that we could afford to have a 2-story porch that runs the length of the back of our house! We started the project in spring of 2011 and finished in spring 2012, as our budget allowed us to pay as we went.
Marshall continued to consult with us and make suggestions as we went along. The crew was always prompt, at budget, finished on time or earlier than promised, and cleaned up after themselves. For example: for the price of other companies'  quotes JUST to move the staircase, Marshall replaced the railings, made 5-ft wide stairs broken up by a 10x14 ft (mid-level useable) deck, and included a bit of seating along the edge. That is the sort of value we continued to see.
Marshall is "old school" (not a lot in writing) and we did have one miscommunication about door specifications, but it ended up even better than I'd expected so all was good. Marshall and his brother Donald and assistant James did a great job (as did the subcrews who did the roof and paint). I got the impression they treated our house as if it were their own, making upgrades at their own expense sometimes to do the job right and to high standards.
Visitors continue to be amazed at the high quality of the workmanship. We love our porches! If I can figure out how to post photos, I will.

    Wheaton Door & Window Company
Everything went fine. I had a bit of a problem with one worker as someone in the neighborhood was passing ut leaflets and he told them they couldn't  I mean it wasn't that big of a deal but I just felt he was out of line to do that. Other then that the work was done well.
