    On November 20 of last year I called Spichers' service department (in Winchester) to look at my dishwasher (which I had purchased from them less than two years prior) because it wasn't washing well. A repair person came, and he diagnosed that it needed a new dispenser. He returned on Dec. 7 to install it. It did not fix the problem. I called again on Dec. 8 to say that it was still broken. He came again on Dec 12th. This time he said it needed a new wash motor and a new controller, both very expensive parts. In fact, someone else from Spichers came to give me that news and ask if I'd just like to get a new one instead. And also to say that I was going to be charged another $119 service call fee (which I thought was unfair as he should have fixed the problem the first time). The total was up around $650. Having already sunk $200 into this dishwasher I couldn't at that point give up and get a new one. But if he had told me all this at the first service call I certainly would have just chosen a new one and I'd be happily washing dishes now. So, they ordered the parts. On Dec. 26 the repairman returned to install the parts. By the time he was done he said that the washer didn't, as it turned out, need a new wash motor (or controller--I can't now remember which he installed and which he said it didn't need) but instead needed an only slightly cheaper part--the user interface--that wasn't broken before he started working on it! So now, my dishwasher was still not fixed, and he's replacing a thing that used to work. I emailed Spicher's and they checked on the part, finding out that it would be in the following week (a four week wait, total) and they clarified that I wouldn't be charged another $119 service fee, but made no other overtures to make sure I was getting good customer service. He came in put the user interface in. He said it was fixed. I washed dishes that night and it was NOT fixed. Still had the SAME PROBLEM I'd originally called them about. I called them in the morning and (to their credit) they came right over that same day and worked on it again. Finally figured out it was a piece of glass in the motor preventing it from spraying the water around. They removed that and cleaned and oiled the motor and it appears to work now. That means he replaced THREE parts I DID NOT NEED, and set me back more than $500 for a problem that he should have found and fixed on that very first service call. This is truly one of the worst customer service experiences I've ever had. I am extremely disappointed. I like to try to use local businesses as much as possible, but this experience is definitely making me re-think that.

    There was no out of pocket cost. Overall, they're pretty average. It took them a week and a half to fix the freezer, that was a pretty big inconvenience for them to show up and okay, we diagnosed it, now we have to order parts, we don't have them. It was what I would expect out of a company. There was nothing mind-blowing about it, it was hey we're going to show up between 10 am and 4 pm, the guy is going to call you before he shows up. If it was free I would use them again.

    Our furnace was broken and making a loud racket.  FH Furr came out promptly, technician told me I needed a new inducer motor, which would be $450 installed.  But then he said it would be better for me to buy a whole new system, costing between $12,000 and $15,000.  When I asked him if he received a higher commission for me buying a new system, he said yes.  He went out to his truck and came back in with a new price of $950 for the new inducer motor, saying the motor I needed was more "unusual" than he first thought.  After he left I went on Amazon and found the motor he was selling for $210, and the reviews say it takes 10 minutes to screw in.
    Not sure how I can recommend using a company who pays their guys more money to get people to buy things they might not necessarily need (new systems) - especially when the repair price is doubled in 5 minutes to make the new system appear more attractive.  $950 to install a part that costs $210 to install in 10 minutes is dishonest and disgusting.  We ended up putting in a similar brand new system (and a better warranty) from another company within the same price range ($13,100), but who I trusted much more and gave me a more honest opinion of what the needs for my home were.

    Shortly before Christmas and after reading the reviews on Angie's list we contacted Shenandoah appliance to fix a " funny noise" problem with our 8 yr old Bosch dishwasher. The technician realigned our unit which took care of the noise. He also ran a diagnostic, one of the features of the high end machine and informed us that our heating unit was not working properly. We agreed to have this replaced. The cost for two visits and parts was now $378. The next time we ran the unit the timer was off; the machine just ran on cycle one for hours. The technician returned again and stated that the timer was tripped by the bad heater which he said he fixed. There were no parts needed and he stated that he would not charge for the visit. We then received an invoice for $89. The next time we ran the unit our kitchen floor flooded. The technician returned again, said he fixed the leak but stated " every time I go into this unit something else fails". We would now need a new control board and drain pump. He did not recommend further repairs. We contacted Shenandoah Appliance to determine how they would resolve this problem. They offered no compensation and stated that they will no longer work on Bosch units because the diagnostics do not give you an accurate reading on what is wrong. I was under the impression we hired a technician for that. So now we are out almost $400 and a unit that worked fine except for a funny noise is no longer repairable. This is not how you take care of your customers. Would never recommend this company.

    It is the second time we've used Shenandoah Appliance and we will continue to use them for our appliance repairs.  Tech was on time (I believe he may have actually been early), very professional and took time to explain to us what he was doing, what was wrong with the machine and what we can do to prolong the life of the machine.

    Mike arrived on time and began to fix my oven immediately.  He solved the F9 error code and had my oven working again in an hour.  He was curtious and explained his work to me in plain terms.  I recommend this vendor.

    I called the office and the lady who runs the business had the repairman call me. He diagnosed over the phone and ordered a part. When he came to house, He said he fixed it without using the part. But the ref. failed to operate properly after he left. I called again and got no answer for a day. Left several messages, but got no call back. When I finally got them, the repairman couldn't find the house so he didn't call me OR the office. Just went to next call. Came a day or two later and said he needed to order parts. Came back 3 days later & fixed it again. I was without a ref. for over a week. The repair person was okay, but I am really upset with the owner, as she didn't bother to return my calls. I will NEVER use them again.

    The receptionist and technician were very helpful and friendly.  The tech kept me informed as to his arrival when acquring the correct model for my situation.  Rate seemed reasonable.  We discovered the problem in the morning and he was able to get here by early afternoon and did a quick, efficient job, offering some good advice and answering all our questions..
