I called and got an appointment the next day, which was quicker than I expected. When we went to the office we had to wait 5-10 minutes. Then we saw a technician who did the initial eye check (not sure what this is called, but before going into the room for the eye chart test. After that we waited in an exam room (maybe 15 min) for who we thought would be the doctor, but was someone else (who did not identify herself of her position). She did the actual eye test. I kept thinking the doctor would come in and check them or finish the exam but he never did. I asked the tech about that and she said he'd check them at the end when he saw my son. So she put eye drops in his eyes for dilation and said it would be about 20 min. before getting checked by the doctor. Forty five minutes later (!!!!) the doctor came in, did not apologize for the long wait or anything. He checked my sons eyes but never confirmed the prescription that the tech did but only looked at his eyes with his instruments used for looking in the dilated pupils.
So, ultimately I was very dissatisfied with the service - because of the extremely long waits (we were in the office 2 hours!!) and I was not happy that the doctor never checked my son's prescription and that he did not perform the exam himself. I will not return to that practice again.

Last year, I opted for eye exam and new glasses from James River Eye. Their glasses were no more expensive than mall stores and I got professionalism and courtesy at every step of the endeavor. Then, in early Dec., I developed a very bloody eye. My Saturday afternoon (after-hours) phone call was immediately returned by Dr. Hugh Berckmueller (no charge). I highly recommend this team of eye care professionals.

I noticed that the new prescription was better than one that was done two years ago. I called and questioned the differences and they scheduled a new appointment and indeed it was determined to be correct. They were very helpful and there was not another charge for the recheck. I would go back to them again.

I've used AVI for a number of years for routine, annual eye exams and glasses and have never been promptly seen at my appointment time - and I ALWAYS schedule my appointments as close to the first appointment of the day as possible. I am an independent consultant - when I'm not working, I'm not getting paid. At this last appointment I had to wait nearly an hour to be seen for a 7:30 AM appointment (and I arrived about 15 minutes early). I finally had to track-down a technician to get the Dr., and still had to wait. I will never go back to this practice.

Excellent experience. Dr. Lundberg and her staff were professional and courteous. I never felt rushed. They explained the switch from single to progressive lenses thoroughly, I ordered a lovely new pair of glasses, and I went away very pleased.

I had anxiety in moving from out of state and continuity of care. I looked for references, talked to neighbors, and did an internet search. All showed that Dr. Campbell was the best for my issues. Upon arriving, I found the practice to give me an impression of good managment, caring, and professionalism. My first visit proved this to be true. I not used to the time, attention, and concern that was given to me.

She is one of the best doctors I have been to. She is very friendly. I went to her because I was having a problem with my eyes, and she determined what was wrong with me. Her and her office made sure that they had to problem taken care of as soon as possible. I have also had other doctors give her incredible opinions about her.

Made appointment a couple of weeks in advance. Wanted to make sure that I had expenses in 2008 since I had met insurance deductible. Exam was fine. Would have liked technician performing the work to communicate a little more. Then was taken to another exam room where doctor saw me. He advised that new glasses would not help me much more since my cataract had progressed. He suggested having it removed and replaced with a new multi-focal lens. Was then taken to a 3rd room where an administrator wanted to immediately schedule surgery. I felt a little pressured to have the work done and said that I wanted more information. The multi-focal lens is not covered by insurance, only the single-focal lens. It was explained that this would cost an additional $3000, which seemed rather expensive to me. I wanted to research things before I made a commitment. After speaking with my insurance company, I then called back to have the doctor's office submit a pre-authorization so I could discuss the specifics with my insurance company. I was told that I would have to schedule the surgery in order for them to do that. To date, I have not scheduled the work. I am still researching why this is so expensive a procedure.

Done inadequately: on one procedure she could not get the equipment to give an adequate reading, so she just skipped it! I asked for the contacts that her predecessor had prescribed and she gave a limp excuse why they were not available through her. Real answer is that they are less common and more expensive. The prescription I walked out with was only for that brand and model, so I could not get the prescription filled elsewhere for another brand or model. I felt that she and her staff were only out for my money, they didn't seem interested in my eye health at all.
