I have had an AHS policy on my home for about 4 months now.  I was hesitant in purchasing the plan due to many of the reviews I read and wanted to wait on writing my review until I actually had to use the service.  I pay about $42/month for my plan and have a $100 service fee.  I had my garbage disposal and built in ice machine on my refrigerator stop working within 24 hours of each other.  I placed an online service order through the AHS website (which was very easy to do) on Saturday and received the names of the assigned service companies immediately after submitting the request.  I received a call from the refrigerator repair company that same day to schedule the service visit for Monday.  I then received a call on Monday morning from the plumbing company to schedule their service for Tuesday morning.  Both companies showed up on time, were very professional, and fixed the problems in a little over an hour each.  I cut a $100 check to both service providers upon completion of their work.

I never expected the service to go this smooth and was fully prepared for this to drag on for days/weeks.  I was pleasantly surprised with the level of professionalism of the assigned technicians and am happy to have a fully functioning kitchen once again!  Is this warranty worth the cost....that remains to be seen.  I likely could have hired companies to come out and make those repairs for about what I have paid out so far, maybe less.  The real test would be if something sizeable goes out in my home and a significant expense is incurred by AHS.  The bulk of your experience with this company is dependent upon the quality of the companies they contract to make your repairs.  I have heard good things from other people who have used AHS in my area and have been told they had quality technicians/companies conducting their repairs.  If the companies servicing your area are not high quality, this will likely be a miserable experience for you.

For now I am very pleased with the level of service I received and will maintain an AHS warranty plan as long as the company and the contractors they assign continue to provide high quality service.

Called AHS for a furnace repair prior to Thanksgiving.  AHS dispatched Tidewater Heating and Repair to repair approximately 72 hours later.  Tidewater informed wife that they needed to replace the system and that it was beyond repair.  They also informed my wife that they would return to replace the system on  02 Dec 13.  02 December rolled around and the company failed to show.  I called AHS to find out what the problem was and was informed that there was a denial of service placed on the job order due to out of pocket expenses required as part of the replacement.  Those costs were approximately $870.00.  AHS failed to inform me of this and I would not have known had I not called.  During our discussion I frequently asked for an copy of the itemized list of out of pocket expenses and a letter explaining the denial of service but was told the company does not email out such data to customers for security reasons and I could get a copy via mail. As of  December 30  I have yet to receive such data.  I informed them that I would exercise the cash out option as I didn't think a replacement was necessary and that Tidewater was trying to recoup expenses by passing bogus charges onto me.  I called a local repair service who sent a technician out the same day and effected repair of the system by replacing an ignition module.  He confirmed the system was old and should be replaced at some point but that it was repairable.  He also said the additional charges were bogus and not required.  The technician provided the receipt/invoice which I faxed to AHS for reimbursement.  The total was approximately $630.00 which included the service call.  I indicated that I was only expected to be reimbursed for the actual cost of repair which was $530.00.  Their customer service department contacted me and told me they would only reimburse $175.00 as that was the cost of the ignition module.  When asked why the wouldn't reimburse for the higher amount as it saved them money they said the entire furnace system would have only cost them $300.00 as they buy in bulk and my cash out option for replacement was $700.00  I started asking questions about where they derived their cost and she threw out another figure that as a customer I pay 80% more which would be $1260.00.  Later during her explanation she said I would pay 3-4 times as much which would be $2100-2800.  She couldn't get her cost right and she was just throwing numbers out.  She never addressed my concerns about the original vendor nor the original cost of the repair and did not seem concerned about me as a customer.  As such I informed her that if that was all she could do  then send the check and I would cancel my AHS plan.  Very unresponsive, dismissive service.  I will say they were not unprofessional.  Each representative remained courteous throughout. Bottom line is customer satisfaction - and as a customer I am not satisfied.
