They do overnight shipment of specialty medications, and if the need be they insert a cold gel pack to keep the meds cold till they get to you. You get the same delivery man because it is his route, and you sign for your medications. They notify you to let you know when it is close to the end of the prescription and will call the doctor to see if a new script can be written. The keep wonderful communication with you. The service is unbelievable, you can call if you have questions, they are amazing.

This is the insurance provider for my former employer. I felt the costs for the insurance was to high. I do not know if this was because my employer did not contribute enough to the plan, but I felt the fees versus the coverage provided was not very affordable for the average level of salary.

Transition went smoothly except that the billing from regular Tricare to Tricare for Life was  a little rough.  Tricare debited my checking account after I had already paid for 3 months of Tricare for Life.  They assured me it would be remedied quickly.  I won't know till the next month's billing cycle. Otherwise , I have had an excellent experience with Tricare for Life.

I always check the UHC website to make sure that the physician is in network. I think I understand most of the rules and try to work within the system. My husband is on Medicare and I have UHC as his secondary provider. I use their website to validate every claim. It is cumbersome. I have asked many many many times that they provide the ability to download into excel key information to verify data. When there are hundreds of claims as in the case of my husband it is burdensome to retype everything by hand. They will not provide the amount paid by medicare first so i have to keep going back and forth to the Medicare site and the UHc site. I have spent hours on the phone with tech support only to be told that was how the rep entered the data into another one of their back office systems. After spending over 30 years in the IT industry my opinion is that their systems are not integrated and leave a lot to be desired. I do not want to chance having problems with my husbands expensive medical bills so I will not change. I do have an annual limit on my out of pocket expenses.

They staff is always quick at processing paperwork on arrival. The wait depends on how busy they are. Showing up early really helps. Otherwise, you can have a wait of an hour or two. We did not have to wait too long this time as we got there shortly after opening. They did a strep test which was positive and sent a prescription to the pharmacy via computer so it would be waiting when we got there. They are tied into the entire Sentara system so anything we have done there will show up on our primary care doctor's system as well. When we had a problem with the insurance company on the prescription, the office was quick to respond and help sort it out.

Overall, Anthem provides decent coverage for most important things, but our premiums, co-pays, and co-insurance are always much higher than other programs. They have also begun requiring biometric health exams annually, submitted to them, in order to reduce premiums. Premiums go up significantly each year. And, this year, they removed most standard dental benefits from the program, beyond regular cleanings, forcing us to upgrade to expanded coverage at a high cost just to keep the regular benefits we had previously had. If we had a choice of other insurance programs, we would certainly consider them. But, this is our only full-coverage option offered by our employer.

My initial interaction was typical - meaning it was pay the copay and in short order the bill (EOB) shows up. This has never been an issue with Optima. Hopefully one day they'll allow the customer to go paperless if they choose to. This would cut down on the amount of paperwork that is mailed for each office visit. I also feel that it would be a good thing to have all of our charges available online as managing the multiple EOBs can be confusing.
The other interaction, a call on the same day as my appointment, was above average. They answered all of my questions promptly and even called me back when we got disconnected.
I rated the price where I did because it is becoming more and more expensive every year.

Service is quick and people are pleasant to deal with. The only problem is that when they send you confirmation of payment and/or bill, it is not clear who the provider is that they paid or that I owe. I have to keep calling them to ask about it.

I dropped off the prescription. I went back later after the promised time. It was ready. Kind of busy in the drive thru but it went quickly. The pharmacist did make an excellent suggestion about a medication I asked him about tha was very hard to find.
