    SWORD HARDWOOD FLOORING
We chose Sword Hardwood Flooring because the company facility is in our neighborhood and Sword has a well-established presence in our area. We replaced about 400 square feet of carpeting with hardwood in our master bedroom and walk-in closet. The company owner visited our home with samples of the wood flooring, clearly explained our options, and emailed a cost estimate a few days afterward. The hardwood floor was installed on schedule two weeks after we accepted the estimate. The project required only one day to complete. The installer installed quarter-round shoe molding he stained to match the wood floor color. The installer hauled away the old carpet and cleaned up thoroughly after the project was completed. We are highly satisfied with the work and the appearance of the flooring.

    Jack's Tile & Carpet
I would like to have given them a higher rating but Ill explain why I didnt. First, Robert Hall & Staff are wonderful and easy to work with. The first hardwood floor we picked did not match with our existing hardwood floor. Robert took the hardwood floor back and allowed us to pick another one. The second hardwood floor matched perfectly. I ask Robert BEFORE we started if the new hardwood floor would line up with our existing hardwood floors (in the dining room & foyer). He said yes. It took 2 days to complete the job. When Calvin (lead) & Eric came I asked them the same question, yes the floors would line up. They started in the living room which would line up with the dining room, it did. The 2nd day a new crew came. I immediately called Robert; he assured me that Derrick (lead) would do a good job. I asked Derrick about lining up with the existing hardwood floor. He said yes. Derrick is a very good, competent, careful, happy, and easy to work with worker. I had appointments this day and left. When I returned most of the floor had been laid. I was shocked to see that the foyer (which is the first thing people see when they come in) DID NOT line up with the existing hardwood floor. I asked Derrick why & was given an excuse. At that time most of the hardwood floor is down & there was no way of fixing this without pulling up most of the floor. We paid a lot for the hardwood floor. It looks good, but we are disappointed that it doesnt line with the existing foyer hardwood floors. When the sun shines on the floor it is very noticeable and it still upsets us. I wish there was an easy solution. Another flaw, no one from the company called after the installation to see how we liked the floor. Which is not good customer service. Having said all this, the company is good to work with, the employees are good. Our suggestion would be if you are getting hardwood floors that need to line up with existing hardwood floors you check it BEFORE they permanently attach it.

    Jack's Tile & Carpet
Jack's Tile did extensive work for us at the beginning of the year. I don't always post positive evaluations of contractors, unless I am extremely satisfied. That is the case with Jack's Tile. They did a fantastic job, and now that it is 6-7 months after completion, everything is holding up well, and I am more satisfied than ever. I should mention that I was not an easy customer. I had concerns during the project, and I made them known to Robert (the project manager) as well as Jack. Their reaction was professional, calm and exactly what you would want to hear- let them finish, if I am still unsatisfied with the finished project, they will do it over, no questions asked. Flooring in your house (whether carpet, tile or hardwood) is something you will look at and walk on every day of your life. You should hire a contractor that will do the job right and for the right price. That's Jack's Tile & Carpet

    Jack's Tile & Carpet
I was extremely pleased with Jack's Tile and Carpet. Their sales manager, Robert Hall, was very friendly, patient and knowledgeable. The crew did a great job installing the carpet and leaving my baseboards as clean (without marks) as they were when they began. They also did an excellent job on the stairs. One had many spindles and another staircase had to be bound and then installed for a "waterfall" effect. Excellent job!

    50Floor
BUYER BEWARE: My husband and I hired 50 Floor located at 818 Bluecrab Rd. Newport News VA. 23606. We spoke with the salesman on Sept. 6th 2017. I specifically ask the salesman if they have their own installers or do they hire independent contractors? He insured me that they were 50 Floor employees. Well, when they showed up Sept. 29th 2017 to do the job, it was very obvious that they were independent contractors. The language barrier was immediately an issue. They didn't measure anything before cutting. They were stepping on the shoe molding, that we provided, to break it instead of cutting it, they over cut the door trimming to the point I could stick my finger in the hole, they put defective planks down, they left gaps where the shoe molding was suppose to connect, when they put the toilets back they didn't cut the screws that holds the toilet in place, so the plastic covers would not go back on, they destroyed three different transitional strips that we provided, they put nails in the flooring, they left gaps in the flooring, they came back on 4 separate occasions to do what was suppose to be a one day job on Sept 29th 2017, they just finished today Nov. 15th 2017. They offered absolutely no compensation for our inconveniences, the only offer they made was to pay for the shoe molding and the transitional strips that they damaged. I had to escalate the call to corporate. And it was like pulling teeth to get them to offer 150.00 credit which is not anywhere near compensation that should have been offered for time wasted, aggravation, lack of professionalism, lack of customer service, the multiple canceled appointments that were canceled at the last minute, lack of integrity of this company is beyond unacceptable. I will never use this company again or recommend this company to anyone. I would have been better off hiring an independent contractor my self and saved the extra money they charged for mediocre work. Even upon completion, it doesn't look like a professional did the job.

    Jack's Tile & Carpet
Their customer service is top notch. We worked with Robert Hall who was helpful and personable. We went to the showroom twice to pick out our carpeting and flooring and they showed us many options explaining each one in detail and then making great recommendations for our needs. When it was time for installation some of our Shaw flooring got delivered damaged at no fault of Jack's Tile and Carpet. They got it reordered and installed before the estimated time. They also contacted Shaw flooring on our behalf to get us compensation for the delay because of the damaged flooring. The installation went smoothly and quickly. The installers were professional and friendly. The house looks great and if we ever need flooring again we will go through them. A good, solid family run business.

    The Virginia Bath Company
Having traveled the US and the world, one aspect that speaks volumes is the luxury of a good shower. The Virginia Bath Company rebuilt the original contractor's terribly and hastily put together master shower in my home, producing a shower that I look forward to using every day. From the tile selection, to amenities such as built in niche shelves, a third shower head on a wand in an originally two head shower, to the corner bench, Mr. Sowinski's group did an awesome job. They were punctual, honest, and best of all informative on the date they would start and if they were late, they notified me. Having looked at other bids which were considerably cheaper, and hearing the horror stories of those results, I would strongly encourage anyone considering a bathroom rebuild to consider The Virginia Bath Company.

    Adams Hardwood Flooring
They were really really good. The owner came out to the house and helped us pick the color and then he was very helpful making sure that everything was done really really well. So, he was really good. On top of that, we were not here when they were here. When we walked in the house, everything was just right where it should have been. On top of that, while he was doing the work, he sent us pictures of the progress.

    Dragon Scale Flooring Inc
It went well. It was good. There was a mix-up in the initial order. They cleaned up after themselves. When they came to the house, they were very professional at the house, left the samples and gave us good feedback on types of flooring and things like that. So they were very helpful in making the decision.

    Oyster Point Tile
We had worked with OPT previously and were very happy with the quality and cost of the work. Once again Doug and his guys did not disappoint. I called and he was able to come estimate the job the next day, after selecting a tile from his supplier (which was in stock) he offered to begin work the following week! We declined opting to have the work done while we were out of town. Even though we weren't home he began work on time on the specified date, as our neighbor had the house key. The work was done in 3 days and in the end I believe the whole downstairs was cleaner upon our return than when we left! And the tile looks WONDERFUL! I did the removal of old flooring and trim to save that cost.
