    Artistic Fences Inc.
Very pleased with our job. We actually had a different company lined up to fence our side yard, but they ended up canceling our job because they lost some people. Blessing in disguise for sure. Called Tim up and he came out right away and gave a very detailed estimate. Not only that, he came in under what the previous company was going to do it for. When the time came for installation, this is where Tim really shined. He took his time installing the fence, making sure everything was level and angled exactly as it should be, including offsetting our gates because of some slopes. Couldn't be happier with the end result.

    Home Renovations 3
DO NOT USE THIS GUY! HE IS A LIAR AND TAKES PEOPLE'S MONEY! He insisted on taking money up front for a fence and flooring. He never did the floor, and only with threats to turn him into Virginia Department of Professional and Occupational Regulation (DPOR) did he finally do the fence. He applied the money for the floor to the fence. Get a written contract and a receipt for any money that you give him. Ensure that he signs it with his name, Matthew Peelish, and not with the company name (either Home Renovations 3 or J&M Custom. Hold his feet to the fire for timelines. He will push back and have a ton of excuses, all of which will be lies. He lied about everything. He lied about going to my HOA and getting approval. He said he went through their Newport News office, which does not exist. He lied about his people being on their way to do the work on several occasions. He said they were loaded up and driving to Williamsburg, which they were not. The key to working with this guy is to file a DPOR report at the first instance of impropriety. The second he makes any positive progress, you can no longer charge him with fraud. He is a bad person, and has no problem taking people's money. I recommend Google-ing his name prior to agreeing to do any work with him.

DJ was a pleasure to work with. His was not the lowest quote, but he was the most responsive during the initial process of interviewing potential contractors. I did check his insurance and licensing, and all was current. The lowest bidder's license, incidentally, had expired in 2012 when I checked online. I threw a monkey wrench into the process by asking for an accelerated timeline because of the unexpected impending arrival of family members with two large dogs (we have one ourselves). He met the deadline with 3 days to spare, all the while dealing with two weeks of sometimes heavy downpour. Would we use him again? Yes, and we are considering doing so to construct a trellis over the patio.

Beautifully! DJ and his crew worked diligently and efficiently, cleaning up as they went. DJ kept me apprised of their progress and plans. I am very pleased with the results and highly recommend New Leaf Landscaping.

    Artistic Fences Inc.
We would highly recommend Artistic Fences. We found Tim to be knowledgeable about our neighborhood HOA requirements and he gave us an estimated time frame for when the work could be done. The fence installation was professionally done and it looks great. We were thrilled that Tim kept us in the loop each step of the way and we never had to wonder why he didn't show up-unlike the majority of contractors we have used.

    Good Neighbor Fence Inc

If one word could describe my experience, it would be OUTSTANDING!  Good Neighbor Fence Company was recommended by our neighbor who had his fence built between eight and ten years ago and you wouldn't know it.  Their fence still looks great!  The estimator, Mr. Stewart was very helpful in answering all of our questions and addressed every concern.  Even came out on his own time twice on a Saturday and Sunday.  Mr. Stewart also guided us on what can and couldn't be done.  Their prices are very reasonable and fair, their quote came in $500.00 below the local home improvement store.  Materials were delivered on time.  Installers arrived when they said they would and took the time to explain everything that was about to take place.  The lead guy or foreman really surprised us.  He was not only a professional, but had us laughing with his quick wit and pleasant attitude.  The only thing that stopped this man and his crew from completing the entire job in one day, they ran out of daylight.  They said they'd be back next day (Sunday) around noon to finish up one last gate.  Not surprised, they were there when they said they would.  Other then the new fence you wouldn't know they were there.  My yard was cleaned as if nothing was done.  They left no sign they were ever there!  A great company with professional crews.  Good Neighbor Fence takes customer satisfaction seriously.  If you are in the market for a fence you'd be nuts not to take a look at this company.

We highly recommend Good Neighbor Fence Co.

    Hurricane Fence Company
To make things simple, I'll say this at the outset: Hurricane Fence was fabulous. Here are the reasons why:
    1) We worked with Sam Owens, the rep for our area, and it was a true pleasure. We discussed exactly what we wanted, including some additional work that had nothing to do with fencing (removal of debris that accumulated in preparation for the fence). The discussion of the estimated costs were clear and honest.
    2) We were given details of the materials that would be used, several options for how the fence would be laid out (lay-of-the-land, etc.), and how these choices would affect how the fence would look. In comparison with other estimates, this company selected better materials, was happy to accommodate special requests, and were generous with their time in working with us. Other companies we talked with did not mention any of these options.
    3) The crew that came to remove the existing fence and install the new were some of the most professional craftsmen I've ever worked with. And, they were incredibly accommodating. For instance, we have bee hives on our property boundary - they worked around it. We have neighbors that were sensitive about how the fence installation might impact plants on their property line, etc. - the crew voluntarily worked with the neighbors to be sure that they were happy. Working with the neighbors, the crew actually dug up my neighbors plants and moved them to a locations chosen by the neighbors. Way beyond the scope of the project....
    4) Frankly, I enjoyed hanging out with the crew, as they were true craftsmen who wanted to do quality work based on the client's wishes. We were fully informed about the timing and duration of the project, and they were true to their word.
Based on my experience, I want to make several last points: 1) of the fence companies that gave us quotes for the fence replacement, Hurricane was not the least expensive, but having said that: 2) you should ignore the difference in price, because I cannot stress how much more information we were given up front about the process, how much better the materials that were used in the construction of the fence, how and when things would be done, and how truly wonderful the installation crew was. You get what you pay for, and Hurricane Fence is absolutely worth it.

BUYER BEWARE, DO NOT USE THIS CONTRACTOR.  After signing the contract, and giving this individual half a deposit, months went by without any service provided.  We called this contractor every few weeks, and excuse after excuse continued to be given. We finally asked for our deposit back, on several occasions.  To date we have not received our deposit back from this contractor, although he deposited the check the day after we signed the contract.  THIS CONTRACTOR HAS DONE WITH TO 2 OTHER INDIVIDUALS, AND IS BEING PURSUED IN SMALL CLAIMS COURT BY AT LEAST 3 OTHER CUSTOMERS.

I gave him a large deposit in the beginning of December for this work, and I have not heard from him since. He has not responded to my voicemail or text messages. Furthermore, his voicemail box has been full for the past 3-4 weeks, which makes me unable to leave a message. Even prior to giving him the deposit, he was difficult to contact.

Tim came to our home to give us a (free) estimate for new fence construction.
Because of the layout of neighbors' fences, we needed only a fence at each side of our house, that extended to property lines on either side, as well as an expanse of fence at the back of the property.
We wanted a dog ear, 5' fence at the back, and arched fence at either side on the front.
What we appreciated about Tim was his professionalism and honesty.
He called us before he left to come to our home. He spent an hour  - taking measurements and making sketches.
He spent time discussing the construction with us so that we knew the type of wood he would be using, how it would be reinforced, etc.
The estimate was fair, and we had confidence that we would be getting a fence that would last for a long time and wouldn't sag.
We needed a fence  for aesthetic reason, but also because we have a dog.  We had to have permission from our HOA and already, we had waited several weeks. We knew we would get permission soon, and we were in a hurry.
Tim realized this without our saying anything.  He told us that he would be able to build the fence in 4 weeks.  If we needed it sooner, there was someone he had worked with.  He recommended a different builder.
We went with the different builder because we needed the work done sooner. But Tim is trustworthy, communicative, and highly professional. We would hire him anytime if we needed construction.
