Don Kendrick Building and Remodeling Inc
Don Kendrick and his wife Tracy run their own remodeling company. She works from the office and is prompt to return calls, stays well ahead of the pacing of the project, and works with the customer to help pick out tile, paint, cabinetry, fixtures, etc. All selections were made well in advance of the project and stored by them so there were no unpleasant surprises when it came to install. They answered our initial inquiry promptly and professionally and Don came to inspect the project himself. We received three quotes for the job and his was by far the most reasonable and the most detailed of them all. There were no questions about what was included and he came in 3 days early and right on budget. He manages the project himself, is there every day to supervise his subs, who were terrific, and he runs the cleanest work site I have ever experienced. He does much of the work himself to keep the project moving, on a Saturday if necessary. He demoed an old bathroom down to the studs, added a pocket door and reinstalled a beautiful tiled shower which required some rewiring and replumbing. We added a new vanity and tile floor. His sub was also able to remove and reinstall perfectly a giant custom mirror that had been glued to the wall. There was significant Sheetrock repair necessary in the adjoining bedroom before they repainted both bath and bedroom. His crew easily worked around other contractors who came in to remodel the closet and install new carpeting. The finished project took just over 3 weeks, is beautiful and just what we had hoped for. I would work with him again and recommend his company wholeheartedly.

    Sage Custom Contracting Inc
    1. I called on May 4 to set up an appointment. I was told that they were scheduling the appointment with the owner Sean to come out, look at our house, and discuss the services that we needed. I was told it would be with him specifically since we need such extensive work. The Appointment was set for May 18 at 2pm, and I was told that I would have an estimate no later than 10 days which would be by May 28. 2. On May 17 I received an email saying that Nick (not Sean) would be coming out to discuss our various projects. They did include a picture of Nick in the email. 3. On May 18 Nick shows up a little after 1pm - which was earlier than we were expecting. He did attempt to call however I was not near my phone since we were expecting 2pm. 4. During the course of the conversation we are told that Nick can't give us an estimate - that he has to go back and talk to Sean, and that Sean will have to come out to look at everything. We are also told that the company is so busy that they might not be able to fit us in anytime soon. Nick says that someone will contact us to move forward. 5. It's now June 12th (a few days shy of a Month) and we have never heard back from anyone. Since Nick came out on May 18th, not a single person has contacted us since. What's extremely disappointing is that this company is supposed to have an A+ rating. Unfortunately, that's not our experience. Save your time and call someone else. We are going with Homefix Custom Remodel - who showed up on time, worked with us through the process, gave us a written estimate the very same day they came out, and they keep in touch. Good Luck!

    Lowe's Home Improvement
I'm trying to get two storm doors installed. It's horrible. I paid $1000 for their installation services,  paid for the doors, and even called two days ago to file a complaint that no one has ever contacted me to do the installation. They still have not contacted me. I've just been completely blown away.  I have called the Lowe's number and spent 30 minutes on the phone with this woman taking down all my information. I gave her my full complaint, I gave her everything and it took forever. She said "okay mam I got your complaint and someone will be in touch with you within 24 hours". It's 48 hours and no one has even bothered to call me. I'm going to go by there and ask for a refund. It's just been unbelievable. It is so bad. I paid for material and $300 for the installation for these two storm doors. Before I could order the doors they had to come out and measured. It was the same thing. I had to pay $50 for them to come out and do this measurement and other stuff that was supposed to be deducted later. They said within two days someone will contact me about the measurements. I kid you not, no one ever did. I went to the store a week later and asked why no one contacted me. They were like "oh I think someone dropped the ball and didn't fax it over". They said we are going to fax it over right now and they promised me. It was three days later somebody finally came out and did the measurements. This whole process has been the biggest joke I have ever seen. I'm $1000 into this and still no doors. They can't even call me and set up a date to come out and install two doors.

    Tidewater Pro Build
I have used Tidewater Pro Build for many projects on my house in Williamsburg. Before I bought the house, Trey and his team had remodeled the kitchen, and I was so impressed that I hired them to replace the roofing and siding. Most recently, I hired them to gut and remodel the three bathrooms in the house. They did an outstanding job, and the bathrooms are absolutely beautiful! Trey and Caleb made a number of recommendations that worked perfectly to make the most efficient use of the space in the bathrooms. The quality of their work and their attention to detail and finishing touches were excellent. I give the company a 5-star rating and highly recommend them for any construction project.

    Tidewater Pro Build
I could not have been happier with the results.. Caleb led the team that literally gutted our bathroom and rebuilt it in a way that exceeded our expectations. Likewise with the kitchen. Caleb took care to address every detail as if the job was for his own house. His team was fantastic; very respectful...yes sir, no sir...rare these days. I was so pleased with the work Caleb and his team did on the interior of my house I asked his brother Trey to do some exterior work to repair some significant water damage below my deck that had begun to manifest in wood rot, doors that didn't work right, cracks, etc. With the same work ethic as Caleb, Trey brought in a team that removed my old deck, made the repairs and replaced the deck with one that was way better built. Their joinery was clean and detailed and the design was very attractive. Again, very respectful crew that did great work, cleaned up every day, and paid attention to every detail as if their own. I absolutely would hire Tidewater ProBuild over anyone else out there today for just about any job I had. Trey Whitten has the licenses to build a house from the ground up so when I need something done I will call Tidewater ProBuild again.

    The Drying Co
The job went well.  We needed to encapsulate the crawl space because the hardwood floors we installed in December of the previous year were cupping, both above the crawl space and in our sun room, which was built on top of an existing deck. The reason we elected to go with The Drying Company was they offered options based on our needs rather than a set package.  For instance, rather than telling us that we needed a 20ml liner, they offered a 12ml liner, which was a more reasonable cost and our crawl space did not need a 20ml liner. They also offered spray foaming the crawl walls rather than foam board.  They also recommended on their own we consider spray foaming underneath our two sun rooms to better insulated the floors and help reduce the moisture content of the sun room wood floors.  The lead time to start our project was 3 weeks.  They estimated it would take 3 days to complete the project.  The first team arrived as planned and cleaned the crawl space of debris and the old 6ml barrier and then installed the new 12ml vapor barrier.  The next day was to be the foam insulation work, however, the foam truck needed an inspection and the work was moved back a couple of days.  Once the insulation work started the job was quickly completed.  When the existing plywood was removed from underneath the two sun rooms, several boards were broken and replaced with new ones.  They removed all the old boards and cleaned the area.  The only negative was when they replaced the plywood it was done wrong and needed to be trimmed with a cable saw which was not a clean cut.  The company also provided a wireless hygrometer to monitor the temp and humidity in the crawl space.  Since we encapsulated the crawl space the humidity has stabilized from the mid 60% to 40% and the temperature is around 65 degrees.  We are running the dehumidifier at 40% until we can see the cupping in the hardwood floor relax and the boards go back to their natural state.

    Apple Door Systems
My old garage door (at least 50 years) began to separate from the doorframe. Since I wanted to replace it with a new motorized door with remote control, Apple bid on such a door with installation. The price was competitive. It turned out that the doorframe was badly damaged and would need extensive repair. I was disappointed that Apple could not do that part or arrange to have it done as part of a total package. However I did arrange with a contractor for the doorframe repair and the installation of an electrical outlet needed for the motorized door; within a week of completion, Apple installed my new door. It has worked well since.
At the same time that I asked for the garage door estimate, I asked for a bid on the installation of a storm door to replace the one at my front door. However, Apple's bid was close to double the bid for a similar door from Lowes; I had Lowes do that job, which was also quite satisfactory.

    Total Home Improvements
I haven't hired them to do the work yet.  They said that they couldn't match the handrail style of the undamaged handrail so I am investigating other options before I decide to spend even more money and replace BOTH handrails.

    Rapp Remodeling And Repair
Try is an excellent craftsman.  He takes pride in his work and when he finished the project we had much better insulated doors and that part of the house is nicer than when we bought the house in the 1980s.
