    Penn Flooring & Restoration
Penn Flooring did extremely high-quality work at a reasonable price. The floors look outstanding and added immeasurable historic value to the house. Without hesitation, they would be the first call for similar work.

    Mover Dudes Inc
I moved over 20 times including several interstate and international moves, and have used several residential moving companies. For this move under 150 miles, I decided to use Mover Dudes to move and completely pack our home based on many favorable online reviews, but now I am unsure if these reviews were even real based on my extremely bad experience. I signed a guaranteed and binding estimate based on an in-home inspection that included Mover Dudes taking pictures of every room in our house. I included several additional items in the estimate that were included in these photos. These items were left in the house and moved to another location by Wheaten Van lines, totaling over 3500 lbs. The packers were largely professional and did a very good job packing items. Unfortunately, some movers were not experienced when moving quality wood furniture and there was no oversight by the crew leader. We paid the entire amount of our initial guaranteed and binding estimate within 3 days of the move. We had also tipped the packers and movers over $2000 for this move. Mover Dudes claims that they do not base their estimate on weight; rather their service is based on inventory. After completion of the move, we were overbilled 3 days later for an additional $3,500 above the guaranteed estimate. Dishonestly, many items moved by Wheaton were included on the final inventory sheet for Mover Dudes; they also added and duplicated other items, as just a few examples, there were over 100 additional boxes, an additional 55-inch television was added, and 5 additional dining chairs. After being confronted by the Better Business Bureau (BBB), their manager, Gregory R. Brown, had no answers for this extra inventory and could provide no proof it was accurate. Mover Dudes does not use a standardized numbered inventory method employed by legitimate moving companies. Mr. Browns responses to the BBB were pathetic and untruthful. In addition, Mr. Brown fraudulently claimed our moving weight exceeded the original estimate by 4000 lbs. Mover Dudes provided no weight estimate in signed paperwork for our contract, and Mover Dudes never supplied us with any official weights as required for interstate moves to support Mr. Browns false claims after the move. Mover Dudes did over $5000 in damage and refused to honor the insurance we purchased under our guaranteed and binding estimate that I paid in full. They never even responded to my last rebuttal with the BBB, and never called or contacted us directly during this entire process. This company is dishonest and unprofessional-- they do not deserve anyone's business.

    Mover Dudes Inc
We hired Mover Dudes upon the recommendation of a friend and upon seeing good reviews on Angie's List. Unfortunately our experience wasn't great. We only needed moving services - rather than packing services. In getting an estimate and scheduling the move, the representative I communicated with over phone and email was very helpful and thorough. The day before the move I was contacted with a move window of 8 - 10am. I was pleased with the time frame and we woke up early to ensure we'd be ready to go for the movers. Our problems came on the day of the day of the move. At 9:50 am (ten minutes before the expiration of the quoted window), the movers called and said they were about an hour and a half away. In reality, it took them until almost noon to arrive at our apartment. Though they were two hours late, the 2 movers who arrived worked very hard upon arrival and took good care of our belongings being very thorough to pack them carefully. However, while trying to move a futon, they put a sizable gash into the drywall near our stairs. While the movers were up front about pointing out the damage to us, about 15 minutes later they asked me to sign a sheet certifying there had been no damage. I was somewhat frustrated by this request and insisted on marking the damage on their sheet. As a matter of practice, they also re-reviewed what we had to move and we received a true bill based on this listing. I would expect we would be charged for what was actually moved rather than an estimate, so I was not surprised by this practice. I was, however, surprised by the subjectivity in classifying items. Specifically, I had marked on the estimate several "two man boxes" that were considered "totes" because they were plastic bins with clothing. "Totes" wasn't even an option on their estimate sheet. So I note that I found the estimate process a little unclear. (This did not, however, impact our overall price as the total due amounted to less than $10 more than the estimate). In all, it took both men about 4 hours to load the truck and we headed to our new house. Upon arrival, the unloading went smoothly. At the end of the process, they asked us to sign a sheet saying there was no damage at our new location. As there was, at that time, no damage, we signed the sheet. Not 5 minutes later, as they departed, they drove through part of our lawn making deep muddy grooves in the yard. I contacted the same representative who had assisted me in our initial move scheduling, the next day, to let her know what had happened with regard to the damaged wall and tire grooves. My email was accompanied by photos of the damage. I also sent her pictures of an oil spot on our driveway - noting for her I wasn't certain if it was pre-existing or from her truck but that if it was pre-existing, the truck should be checked because the spot was substantial. She told me someone from management would follow-up. After not hearing back, I sent a follow-up email with an additional photo. I was assured the person handling claims was on vacation and would return on Friday and I would receive a response. Since that time, a full week has passed without any contact from Mover Dudes. I wanted to be patient to see how they would handle this problem before leaving a review because I would be more inclined to be favorable had they taken some action after my concerns. However, my concerns about the damage to our walls and yard have been ignored. At this juncture though, I feel it's fair to report to potential customers that no action has been taken on my concern/claim. I'm thoroughly disappointed and this alone would prevent me from hiring Mover Dudes in the future as I question how they would handle the situation if there was a bigger problem. Pros - they took good care of our personal property and worked very hard all day Cons - very late with very little notice, damage to our wall and yard, no response to complaints (with photos) regarding damage

    My Guys Moving & Storage
My Guys came recommended by a friend of a friend and also, our realtor said she had many clients who used My Guys and were very happy. Those recommendations combined with My Guys great Angie's List reviews convinced us to choose them. The moving crew was punctual, polite, professional, and just did a great job getting us moved. Their customer service was exceptional, and all our household goods came through the move safely with no damage. I would highly recommend My Guys Moving. Working with them was a VERY positive experience.

    RC Electrical Services
The electrician was very prompt, very professional and courteous. He covered his shoes before entering the house to protect my floors. The work was completed in less than 10 minutes. It all went very well and I would recommend their service to others.

    Mover Dudes Inc
Outstanding Customer Service. Very responsive and professional and worked very hard to accommodate my cross country moving needs. I ended up using a mover closer to Troy, NY (where the pickup location was), but was VERY impressed with the quality of service I received and would NOT hesitate to use them in the future. I was very impressed with the responsiveness and professionalism of Eleese in the office. They earned my trust.

    HomeKey Inspections, LLC
OMG!  Thank you Angie's List for helping me find this gem!  Excel Home Inspections is AWESOME.  I can't thank  Ian McNaught enough for his professionalism, expertise, promptness, friendliness....I could go on and on.  My builder told me they hire a 3rd party inspector to inspect their homes, but being a widow and having limited knowledge about this kind of stuff, my gut told me to hire my own, and boy, am I glad I did!
I met him at the house on our scheduled date, and to my surprise, he told me the house wasn't even close to being done and ready to be inspected.  Of course I felt terrible (and was furious that the builder didn't notify me), but he was very polite and pointed out a few items he found while waiting for me to arrive.  He was more than kind about the situation and was willing to return when the house was ready.
On our rescheduled date, Ian found numerous major and minor flaws in my new home - many that would have spelled disaster and a lot of money to repair down the road.  Not to mention the countless items that weren't up to code.  Upon Ian's recommendation, I will have him come back again before my warranty is up to do another inspection to make sure all is well for my own peace of mind.  Worth every penny.
If you need a home inspector for either a new or old home, I HIGHLY recommend Excel Home Inspections, and if you can get on Ian's schedule, do it!  You won't be sorry.  I received his detailed, easy to read report (to include photos) back in less than 12 hours after the inspection - amazing!  Thank you, thank you, thank you, Ian McNaught!

    Shenandoah Appliance Plumbing & Electric
This company was chosen by our home insurance company, AHS.  Last summer one of the burners was clicking but not lighting.  A contractor came out and repaired the ignitor switch and recommended replacing because this ignitor was bent.  We approved repairs and then waited for 3 weeks for the replacement part.  When we called the company, we were told the part was not order.  After waiting another 10 days after calling back again we were told that replacement parts were not available.  The company never called us to communicate any of the information.  When we used our serial number and looked for replacement part on-line we were able to purchase without any problem and had a local company complete repair.
Recently the cooking vent stopped going up and down.  We scheduled an appointment with this company and they arrived on time for the service call on 6/29/2015.  The repairman forgot his tools though so I provided him use of my tools.  He also stated he did not work on these vents...not sure if he meant thermador vent or retractable vents.  After attempting to work on the hood he was able to get it to function but recommended replacing the arm for smoother function.  While he was testing the hood he had inadvertently moved something on counter that got caught between hood and granite.  This  further damaged arm and also broke gear on motor.  Also when repairman left the fan no longer worked although he tested this and fan was working properly.  I called them regarding fan and they claimed that this was unrelated to botched repair job.  They also cashed our check, a payment that was contingent on completion of the repair.
Upon calling them they also said they would be unable to repair the vent because the same gas top they previously worked on was gas and they were not gas certified.  I would never use this company again.

Jay Crew Window Cleaning & Pressure Washing
We had this service performed twice per year in our previous home and were looking for a regular company. Getting scheduled and responsiveness to scheduling took longer than anticipated and there were  relatively few available time slots to meet our schedule. I had to take a day off from work to accommodate. Price was higher than anticipated and other services were 100-150 less expensive even though this was purchased as a deal.  Crew was just over an hour late.  The crew was extremely professional and did a very good job.

    Superior's Rhino Roofing System
Person showed up on time and went right to work, got the gutters cleaned out, especially the high ones I couldn't reach.  Discovered and removed a tennis ball from the system that accounted for most of the problems I had with the eaves.  In checking the roof he reassured me as to the quality of the shingles and installation and that I should have no problems for many years.  He did find that a boot around a vent was missing which was speedily repaired.  During the course of the inspection I spoke with him about other concerns around the house.  He was very knowledgable about the areas of my concern and the services available through his company.  Given the quality of his work and knowledge I scheduled a subsequent meeting to go over my needs and arranged for several other pieces of work to be done.  That will be in a different review but the work done for that was great as well.
