Fernando cut and removed all the mortar joints on my stone walkway. Then he installed new mortar. He showed up on the date and time we discussed and the work was completed on time. He was clean and respectful of my property. He took the time to carefully remove old mortar and preserve our existing stones. The walkway looks great and we plan on hiring Fernando again!

    Mottern Masonry Design
All of the Mottern Masonry personnel that work worked with were very polite and very professional. Work began and was completed as promised in the original estimate of work. While the work was ongoing, we had requested some minor changes to the layout or position of the concrete and the team handled our requests without problem. We will certainly work with Mottern Masonry again if needed.

    Finest Chimney Sweep and Masonry
Jamie and his associate were prompt, clean, and efficient. Jamie inspected everything and let us know that there are other issues that need to be addressed. The work done so far is top-notch and he is coming back to complete the other repairs necessary.

We designed and purchased the real stone. They arrived laid out all the individual stone, and carefully methodically began placing and building the bar walls. Perfectly angling the corners and using the fragmented pieces of stone to carefully and seamlessly fit... It is truly a work of art! We receive many many compliments.. They worked tirelessly until finished with very little if no breaks.. Anazing

    Creative Design Landscapes
It was a pleasure working with Chris Bergen and his entire crew. The overall design concept was ours, but Chris's attention to details made our design flawlessly come to life. We started with grass and a long stone retaining wall. We integrated the wall into the design, and wanted large entertaining area with a kitchen on one side and a garden on the other. There was enough room to accommodate another patio linked by a walkway for a pergola on the opposite end of the garden.

During the design process, he listened to our ideas and desires, and saw some opportunities that allowed us to be creative.  Our original idea was to use manufactured stone, but we decided to go with flagstone over concrete slab. It is slightly more expensive, but is more natural looking and made to last a lifetime. Chris was able to integrate a slight elevation change into the patio, which reduced the short flight of steps down from the house by one riser. This was important to us, as the retaining wall compresses the space and we wanted to leave enough room for a cutout between the patio and the wall for a specimen tree. He also provided great ideas on the counter/bar materials and dimensions.

Within two weeks of his first visit, we had a site survey, detailed architectural plan and planting planting, and based on final decisions, provided us with a final proposal within another week. And this was during the busiest time of year. His start date was moved back a couple weeks due to another job that was very demanding, but we were okay with that. Once he did start, he gave us his full attention until it was completed, about three weeks after they broke ground.

The quality of his work is outstanding. The cost was fair, we obtained two other bids and Chris's price was in the middle. His proposal was the most detailed and he promised no upcharges unless we made changes. He kept his word. The crews arrived on time every day, were friendly and polite, and cleaned up daily. He walked around with us at completion and asked if there were any details that needed correction. We noted a few minor issues, like a loose railing cap, electrical outlet mounting, and they were fixed the next day. On his own accord, he noticed that new sod was not taking, and that sod was also replaced the next day.

    Bowers Brick Inc
We were remodeling a bathroom where we had a problem with water damage. The exterior bricks had to be removed to repair all of the water damage. After the repair, he installed the new bricks. He also raised and filled in the area where the window was. He was very reasonable. I had received at least two other estimates and his cost was almost half of the other lowest bid. He did really good work and matched the mortar up very well.

    Green Shield Construction Services
There were many issues along the way, not all of them were Green Shield's fault and they did try to fix them initially. The problem is there is a lack of basic knowledge with some things. -They did not know how to properly install and finish the backsplash. Jeremy told his crew to cut the tile and frame the backsplash instead of cutting and flipping the end tiles for a clean, finished look. They had to pull down all of the backsplash they did and redo it the next day because they used too little thinset and the tiles were sliding and falling off. Also they did not go to or below the counter line so when you are next to the stove you can see the exposed, grout messy wall behind it. I should also mention the caulk began cracking pretty quickly and a follow-up email to the company has gone unanswered. -The existing sliding door we had replaced was not a standard size and was squeezed into an opening that was not correct or to code. This is not the fault of the Jeremy and his crew...they worked hard to fix it and did a decent job on that front with what they had to work with. It's the finishing portion of the job I have the most problems with....the drywall work and painting were not done well. Many areas of the door paint are flaking off and you can see clearly where they cut the wall. An outlet cover they removed to paint the wall was not secured in any way when it was replaced, which is a huge safety issue with young children in the home. The door itself sticks at times or needs to be pushed in hard to properly close, and the screen door is worthless because it is uneven and there are gaps where critters can enter. I cannot say that the door functionality issue is the fault of Green Shield but I do not think they had the expertise or knowledge to really figure out how to get it right. -The storm door they installed in the front is nice. There are some minor issues. There is a piece of trim that slides out and it's a little off, with some small gaps. -They did a great job with refacing the outside part of our fireplace but it could be because Jeremy brought in a retired mason that he knew. There are some issues with cracking and crumbling of some areas, which I emailed about this past spring (within my 1 year warranty time), that has not been responded to. -The closet doors were done pretty well. The doors themselves were bowed and I think Jeremy expected me to just live with it. They are there in my foyer when you walk in and I wanted them correct so that was not an option. He tried planing them, which did not fix the issue and said he would go to get new doors. He returned later that day with "new" doors, which he attached a center trim piece to. The underlying doors still do not line up but it wasn't worth the headache. It is a tad annoying that I can't open the side I want but it's not a major deal. -painting of our foyer....Horrible! There were entire sections and walls missed I think the main issue with this company is they take on projects they are not able to do, in areas where they lack expertise. Thankfully, my husband is very handy and can fix many of the issues when they arise but that shouldn't have to happen. When I pay for a job, I expect it to be right and that didn't happen in this case.

    Childress Masonry And Construction
These guys live and breathe brick and stone work and it shows. They are brothers and it's what they have done their entire lives. They clear;y love what they do and the work is beautiful. We had our kitchen renovated and the thin brick wall and backsplash was the finishing touch! The paver and stone patio we had done with them 7 years ago still looks like the day it was done.   It is a 750 square foot patio with a poured concrete foundation, pavers on the floor that are mortared in and a stone wall with stairs and stone columns. It's gorgeous and we spend so much time out there. When we go to sell our house, we know this will be a big selling point!
The pricing is definitely fair and they are Christian men which means a lot to us!

    Mottern Masonry Design
We were happy to take advantage of an off-season discount.  Jeff Mottern and Guy were prompt for the appointment to give us an estimate.  They were very professional, yet down to earth.  Jeff was able to quickly catch our vision.  He priced it out the same day, sat down with us and we signed on the dotted line.
The crew was out within a few days of signing the contract.  They were here exactly when promised - and worked hard to complete the different stages. They dug the area out and then we had the horrible snow storms which delayed the process but no fault of Mottern.  As soon as they were able to come back out and finish up they did.  We now have a very large, gorgeous patio.  It will be sealed tomorrow, and I cannot wait.
I highly recommend this company.  I have already recommended to a few folks.  We would definitely use them again.  Pictures will go up on FB and I will encourage all my FB friends to use them should they desire a patio.
