Eye Care reviews in Warrenton

    Dominion Eye Care - Warrenton
Needed a local optometrist for my annual eye exam. I was referred to Dominion Eye Care by my new physician's office in Warrenton who indicated that they work with / refer patients to Dominion. I have been trying to reach Dominion for 2 weeks to schedule an appointment. Warrenton office phone always answered with a recording saying "the office is now closed" - could not leave VM. Today was the first time I got an auto answer greeting that gave me options. Selected scheduling, and got a voice mail box. I have been calling the Haymarket and Manassas offices with similar results. Left a message last week with the practice administrator at Manassas, but never heard back. Today her voice mail says she is out of the office until next week. Reaching her voice mail is "interesting" - the phone auto-attendant options are out of numerical order, making their automated system confusing to use. My email to her last week also did not receive a response. ZERO responsiveness from this business. Frankly I am wondering if this company is going out of business, as they appear to be MIA. I do NOT recommend them based on this experience. I will call my physician today and speak with their practice manager to get them to stop referring patients to this business.

    Dominion Eye Care - Warrenton
Dr. Andy Hay is an MIT graduate.  He should probably stuck with physics, but he admits you can't make a living at it, and he likes ophthalmology.  Dr. Hay is congenial but not chummy.  He communicates well about your symptoms and his diagnosis.  His Warrenton office is small and bare bones; his equipment looks dated but he informed me that the equipment he uses (although not sleek looking) is absolutely as good as new models.  I respect that.  The bottom line is, in my opinion, Dr. Hay is great, and I found him to be very affable but others might think his bedside manner was not tops.
My diagnosis was that of a slight disruption in my retina which caused some flashing and dark floaters.  Dr. Hay explained it to me very well and had me come back for one-month, six-month and annual checks to see that it was decreasing, which it did.
I would absolutely recommend Dr. Andy Hay for ophthalmology needs.

Go to Dr. Hay if you want a thoughtful diagnosis from a professional.  You may be put off by the lack of amenities in the office; no tv, no comfy couches covered in leather, etc.  The office in Warrenton is small and functional.  In early winter of 2014, I began seeing spots and flashing lights in the periphery of one eye.  Dr. Hay did a thorough exam, discussed his findings and took the time to answer all my questions.  I continue to go to Dr. Hay for followup exams and would recommend his for anyone needing opthamological  help.

    Dominion Eye Care - Manassas

They were running about an hour behind schedule but that's par for doctors these days. Once in an exam room the nurse / technician did the pre-exam asking questions, basic eye exam stuff. When she was done the doctor came in very soon afterwards. He asked questions about any injuries and so forth. He conducted a through exam and diagnosed my problem . He also found the same problem on the other eyeball as well. He told me it is a condition that I have had from birth and did not know about until now because it is growing.  He assured me there was no real concern. The doctor took photographs of my eyeballs to monitor the growth of the problem if any and gave me treatment advice.

I called in the morning to ask for an appointment, and because my symptoms possibly indicated something severe, they gave me an appointment for that same afternoon. The office is neat and clean but not plush. The receptionist was efficient and friendly. Dr. Hay got to me quickly, gave a thorough exam, answered all my questions and provided additional information in easy to understand terms and was pretty friendly. Will be going back to Dr. Hay for on-going exams.

    Chen, Dr. Jimmy
The staff at Target Optical were incredibly friendly, knowlegable and helpful. They helped me decide on frames, actually telling me the truth, instead of what I had hoped to hear. :) They very effectively handled my vision insurance and worked up many different ways of buying glasses / contact lenses so that I would incur the least out-of-pocket expenses.
When I first met Dr. Chen I had to ask him his name. He never introduced himself. Didn't exude a lot of confidence or professionalism. He also didn't communicate very clearly and I had to repeatedly re-ask the same questions multiple times until I finally understood what he was telling me. And I'm a nurse, so I really do understand a lot. However, during the course of my exam, he was able to finally able to explain my vision issues...something no one else had been able to do.
So even though his bedside manner and style was not what I was expecting, his ability more than made up for it.

    Hay, Dr. Andy
I visited Dr. Hay a few times to address swelling and a sty on one
eyelid. He was businesslike (it was a busy office day), but had a great attention to detail,
answered all questions, and was clear about what he was doing and why. I had instructions to use drops and moist heat massage, and to followup with him. The second visit I found him to be much more friendly, and the same about the rest.

I called the practice for an emergency appointment and they told me to come in at my convenience and they would fit me in around their regular patients. When I arrived, the receptionist was warm and kind. I did not have to wait long to be seen and Dr. Hay was extremely efficient during the exam. He moved quickly through the exam and explained thoroughly what was going on and what needed to be done. He was also careful to clearly explain the dangers of not taking the prescribed doses of the medication he gave me. I have been back for 1 follow up appointment, with the same experience and am happy to be seeing him again for additional
follow ups. In summary, I found the practice to have great customer service, medical care, and bedside manner. Dr. Hay will definitely be my family's new eye doctor.

I had visit for annual eye exam and new glasses and husband had visit for dry eyes. Even with the office under renovation and new computer system, Dr. Colbourne was handling several patients and keeping to her schedule. Her exams are thorough and great personality. Office staff is pleasant. Friday is a very busy day at her office, but if you schedule another day of the week all is good.
