I had the company remove the bathtub and replaced it with a walk-in shower. Completely tiled shower and bathroom floor, replace toilet and vanity. Replaced door with a pocket door and had a medicine cabinet built into the wall. Painted bathroom and bedroom wall where the work was done. Great job by the entire crew, cleaned up every day and finished the job a day early. We are very happy.

    Blackwood Construction Group, Inc.
After the 2016 blizzard damaged our roof dormer, we contracted Blackwood Construction Group to repair a leak and repaint water stained drywall.  We were impressed with the quality of the work and the quality of the workers so we decided to have more done.
The second job we had done was a little more extensive, replacing rotten deck boards, repairing water damaged drywall in the basement and installing gutter covers on our house gutters.  The estimate was done quickly and we agreed to the terms.  The rotten deck boards and the basement ceiling repairs were done first.  The crew did a fantastic job with that. The quality of workmanship is evident,  the quality of the workers is also wonderful.  They are polite and willing to do just a little more to make the difference.  The gutter covers took a few days to be delivered and then the work was done without a hitch.  I highly recommend Blackwood Construction Group.

The initial estimate was done at the end of 2013, but work was delayed due to winter weather. If we had insisted we could have probably started earlier, but there was no problem waiting for spring. The start date was delayed by two days as another customer's project ran long, but I was called the day ahead (and then the next day) and there was no problem with the postponement.
In fact, the work was done on Saturday, which was more convenient for us, and two crews were sent to do two days work in one. The two foremen on site immediately established their trustworthiness with my wife in the morning while I was working, and I was pleased with their progress and communications when I returned home several hours after they started.
As rotted trim was removed more damaged wood was discovered beneath, which was not a surprise to me, but was reason for apologies from the owner and foremen since this would involve more expense. The work progressed quickly and efficiently, and both my wife and I were pleased with the results. We are now waiting on an additional estimate for work in a few other areas, which we have agreed is not a rush. I'm more pleased than expected, and it's nice to have this project behind us.

They did a really good job!
I did not contact them as part of a "Big Deal" but I had noticed they had a Big Deal offering up and that is what led me to check out their company reputation and web site.
We had already purchased the doors and needed someone to install them. We had looked up some installation estimates available in a general sense, and so had some idea of the probable cost, but had not had any estimates done for this specific set of doors. I called the company and requested an estimate, and was given a date we could accommodate and that they could guarantee to come - but I was hopeful they might squeeze in an estimate two days earlier. I said I would understand if they could not, but encouraged them to try (okay, I begged)... and they did! My husband met them for the estimate and must have been positively impressed since he immediately requested them to return to do the job.
This was not an easy nor conventional installation because the doors needed to go in between very old, large hand hewn upright beams so that the surfaces were not smooth nor entirely straight. On the top was an iron I beam and below was concrete and brick. The three spaces varied in size, too. The two gentlemen who showed up for this job were Mike and Scott, and they worked quickly and communicated with us to seek input as to our preferences, which I consider an especially important trait. In the final analysis, the doors work smoothly and line up and latch well, and we intend to request that they come back to do work for us again. We've finally found our "favorite handymen".
I will try to post photos which will give some idea of the challenges. Please do not consider the finishing details of the final product as we told them we wanted to do those ourselves - after we'd given it some consideration as to exactly what we wanted. The frame, for instance, will be painted...  Consider, instead, the peculiarity of the opening - which provided unusual challenges.

WALL PAPER REMOVAL: Removed old wall paper without damaging wall
BATHROOM MIRROR REMOVAL: Two other contractors stated they could not remove the mirrors without breaking them (risking injury and damage to wall).  Lemus Contracting safely removed both mirrors.  They are in perfect shape to either donate or sale.
BATHROOM FLOOR BOARD REMOVAL: Removed all the "6 baseboards from 2 bathrooms without damaging the walls
BATHROOM PAINTING: Primed and Painted walls, ceiling, trim and closet of 2 bathrooms. The final results were flawless.
DOOR FRAME REPAIR: I wanted the small bathroom door to swing outward which left holes from where the door hung previously.  Flippe' used bondo to fill in all the holes and painted the door frame and door.  The bondo job was perfect and there is NO sign of the previous holes and hinge indents.
DRY WALL REPAIR: The day after a contractor installed the upstairs bathroom vanity, a very bad water leak occurred which damaged the family room ceiling.  Lemus Contracting was there that day painting and immediately helped open the wet dry wall so the bathroom contractor could find the problem.  Alex highly recommended that I wait about a week prior to repairing the ceiling to make sure the ceiling and beams were completely dry to make sure no mold would grow.  They installed a new section of dry wall; applied & sanded 4 layers of sheet rock. They took 2 days to mud, sand and re-mud to make sure there was smooth surface that blended in with the rest of the ceiling.
PAINTED CEILING: Since the dry wall repair was in the middle of a long ceiling, it didn't make sense to just paint that section. I asked Alex to paint the entire ceiling that included the family room, kitchen and hallway ceilings.  They patched all dings in the ceiling and painted.  The final result was perfect.  You don't realize how bad something looks until it is re-done.  So much nicer!
REPLACED ELECTRICAL SWITCHES & FIXTURES: Alex subcontracted out to replace the bathroom electrical switches and install a GFI outlet. Removed electrical ceiling hanging light and capped wires. This is the only portion of the entire job that was subcontracted and Flippe' was here to verify that I was satisfied with the work.

Alex showed up on time to do the estimate.  We walked through the rooms to be painted, discussed the problem areas and went over my concerns.  Alex made recommendations on the type of primer and paint (if the primer is the same color as the paint, you should only need one coat of paint ... especially if it is quality paint).
This was no " slap paint on the wall and call it a day" type of job.  My husband and I volunteer with a local rescue group and foster cats.  In addition to 2 dogs and xx cats of our own, we also foster xx cats.  Long story short...too many cats present a "peeing problem".   The cats had done a number on the baseboards, wall area above the baseboards and toe-molding.  This is why everything had to be primed to include replacing damaged dry wall.  I stressed and stressed this had to be done correctly or it would be a waste of time and money.
Alex followed up the following day with an estimate via email.  I had a couple changes to the estimate, he made changes and emailed a corrected copy.  We scheduled a start date with an estimate date to finish.  He informed me that if the job went past three days, he was scheduled for another job on Thursday and would not be able to finish until Friday. This was understandable since there were unknowns with the baseboards and toe-molding.  The other major concern I had was that he could NOT let my cats out.  They were sequestered to one area of the house but you never know when one will get out.  He was very mindful and respectful of my concerns about keeping the doors closed and watching out for a rogue cat.
Alex showed up to start the job as scheduled.  He asked questions if he wasn't certain about a detail and made recommendations throughout the job to make sure everything was done to my satisfaction.  He communicated throughout the job to make sure I knew what he was doing and how much was left to complete.  Changes to the original estimate/proposal were written in and all payments were made as agreed to in the original estimate.
When the job was complete, we did a walk through and he explained in detail each step of the job.  He had cleaned up each room and area that he worked in; to include the garage.   He place all the remaining paint cans together and went over which paint was used on the walls, baseboards, etc.  I was really impressed that everything was cleaned up and put back.
Alex's work was nothing short of perfect.  He is a perfectionist, hard working and trustworthy professional.  Plus he is a very nice person who really takes pride in his work and helping people.

    J&D Handyman Services LLC
Their behavior was courteous and professional. Their workmanship was exceptional. They did not consider the job complete until it met our total satisfaction. They always kept a clean work area. They were punctual and flexible working around not only our schedules but weather and family emergencies. I would highly recommend this company and plan to continue utilizing their services. One of the most outstanding jobs they did was to repair a leak in the garage due to the original builder's neglect. We hired a different company and they supposedly fixed it. Unfortunately, the leak resurfaced and this time we called J&D. We have not had trouble with this part of the roof since. They also replaced the rotted wood around the windows...mind you, the house was only 5 years old at the time....
