    Mitchell Eye Institute
I have had chronic eye problems since I was a child, so have seen a number of ophthalmologists. Dr. Mitchell is the best of all of them and he has been exceptional in my opinion. If not for the care of Dr. Mitchell and his staff, I probably would not be able to see well enough to work any more. As a long term patient, I have been seen by most of the technicians and both Dr. Mitchell and Dr. Morin. My visits have been both routine checkups and emergency visits when I have had problems that needed immediate care. Without fail, they have identified what needed to be done and delivered a treatment plan that worked. At one point, Dr. Mitchell referred me to a specialist for a rare condition with serious health implications. I liked that he knew his limitations and was comfortable sending me to a subject level expert. When I researched the person I was referred to, I was pleased to learn that I was being sent to one of the best in the country! I have always been treated kindly and with respect. The doctors and staff listen to what I say and give thoughtful responses. They are really the best!!!

    Mayer, Dr. Hylton
Dr. Mayer is a very caring and thorough professional. He has been our ophthalmologist for the past four years! We would recommend him for a consultation for glaucoma and cataract eye issues and surgery.

    Mitchell, Dr. John D.
Great. Dr. Emily Morin was the surgeon and she helped me work through an issue with floaters in one eye which have since receded. It was suggested after the 1st eye that I stop my blood thinner med a day or two before surgery. It worked very well.

    Fairfax Optometric Center
I have been ordering contacts for quite some time at Fairfax Opticians.  Always excellent customer service from Kevin and all the other employees.  I would definitely recommend them.

    Harry H. Huang MD PA
All told, the visit was fine and i received a referral for an excellent specialist for my eye problem.  What I disliked was that Dr. Huang unnecessarily blamed me for failing to immediately see him when I noticed the problem.  The fact was, that i didn't know it was a problem until i saw him.  It is uncomfortable to be made to feel that I should have reacted differently than I did for a condition for which I had no experience.  He also did not accept my insurance. To go forward with him for treatment was not feasible as a result.

I probably found then on Angie’s List. The quality of service was very good. If I need an ophthalmological care, I would certainly go back to him. He’s been very knowledgeable. Bedside manner is very good. He is very assuring. He was just an around good doctor. I don’t remember that it took me a long time to get an appointment.

    Essepian III, Dr. John P.
Dr. Essepian was very professional. He was referrred to me by the Chairman of Johns Hopkins Wilmer Eye Institute where I had my first IOL after a detached retina. Dr. Essepian trained at Wilmer, which is ranked #1. I also compared a major multi-doctor practice in Maryland but preferred Dr. Essepian.
I chose Dr. Essepian for his professional opinion and explanation of what treatment plan was best for me and my active life. He was quick in sizing up the needs I had and explained why my preconceived treatment plan was not the best. (I had done a lot of lay research and asked a lot of questions.) Specifically, a premium lens was not a good option for me and traditional monovision would be best. I agreed to his treatment plan and had spot on surgery and resulting vision. Monovision is working just as advertised and expected. I can recommend Dr. Essepian for his skill, expertise and professionalism. He can be terse, I'd call him to the point and I respect that, but I ultimately chose him for his medical and surgical expertise.
BTW, do note that the Alexandria office may show up with incorrect directions in GPS or mapping directions. The Fairfax office is easy to find and newer.

    Park, Dr. Juliana Y
I've been going to her for 15 years. Dr. Park is an excellent communicator, is very thorough, and doesn't rush our meetings. Furthermore, she's both personable and professional, and it's easy for me to get appointments with her office when necessary.

    Loudoun Eye Associates
I have seen Dr. Park as my optometrist since 2006 when it was a brand new practice. Today, it's a busy and thriving practice with lots of repeat customers. Dr. Park is very courteous and thorough in his vision assessments. My wife and I have purchased glasses here several times. He provided suggestions on designs and the thickness of lenses based on the correction needed.

The initial appointment, testing and description of the surgical procedure was very accurate and my husband and I felt we understood what was going to happen. My initial appointment was 5 Dec and my final appointment was 29 Apr.  A large part of the early time in this period was waiting for appointments the actual period of the surgery to recovery was much shorter.
Dr. Scott reviewed everything immediately before surgery began and it went off without a hitch.  Over the course of the recovery - which lasted about a month, several things come to mind.
First of all there was never any 'pain' - despite 50 tiny stitches in each upper eyelid, and a corresponding number in each lower lid.
Secondly - there was significant swelling but not much bruising.
Thirdly - you need a good 'nurse' as the recovery relies on four daily ice and salve sessions (this is a mess if you have long hair).  My husband had this down to a science.
Fourthly - you can go 'out' and people aren't horrified by how you look,
Fifthly - you miss the feeling of having a clean face for about 2 1/2 weeks as you can't rub the surgical area for weeks.  One solution for me was to use a large soft make-up brush and swish some soapy water across my eyes to get the Vaseline-like salve off.  I had the laser abrasion on my lower lids - so the 'brown' burned skin came off much faster with the brush - without harming the surgical area.
Sixthly - I am losing count - one of my critical office visits was the Thursday of the Snowmageddon and Dr. Scott met us at his office. That was the day my stitches came out.  This was the only time I felt any twinges of pain - but it was extremely fleeting.
My friends are amazed at how little bruising I had and how well the surgery turned out.  It is almost impossible to see any indication of the actual surgery - but the final appearance is amazing.  And most importantly my vision has improved dramatically - especially at night.
With the exception of 3 prescriptions, Dr. Scott provided all of the meds, salves, bandages, wipes, solutions, etc so there was no risk of not having the correct supplies. His staff, esp Kim, was very thorough in working thru the hospital and billing process.
All in all - absolutely outstanding care and explanation of what was going to happen and what to expect.
