    Prudent Homes
Dave and his staff did an awesome job! He earns my highest recommendation. Prudent Homes costs are well below a top competitor. How does Dave do this? Dave works from a small office in an industrial park in Manassas, answers his own phone and uses a phone answering service for backup, and does his own scheduling. His top competitor has two offices in expensive retail settings and has a staff to answer phones and schedule work. Dave passes the savings along to you. Did I mention that Prudent Homes won the Angie's List Super Service Award again in 2018? Don't shop any further, save yourself time and call Dave at (703) 361-7600.

    Discount Energy Services
Was I able to turn my thermostat down 3 degrees? YES. I got what I paid for. That said, would I recommend, or ever do this again, absolutely, 1000% not. It ruined the house. My husband has spent the last two weekends properly spackling and sanding the walls, and I am working on painting every room in the house. So, is it worth the $3k difference than foam which would have preserved the interior because they worked from the outside? Nope. We would have spent the difference in a handyman and professional cleaning service to make up the difference, easily. Yes, this option is green. Yes, the workers who were on site were super polite. But overall, I have told everyone I know, this is NOT the way to go. Honestly, we had a friend over Friday and she was flabbergasted by the sight of the walls, like how could a company leave them in that condition??? Agreed, but then again, we paid $3k less than the competitor, and technically got what we paid for. Was it "spackled" and "paint ready"? Absolutely not. That is the biggest sticking point. The onsite workers told us this was what they were instructed to do and it would take too long to full-on spackle and make paint ready. Bottom-line: If you have a month to repair the damage, and don't have double-the-price to spend, do this. They accomplish what they said they do. Except it's not really what you want. The house is covered in dust. My mother in law is coming mid-April and I will be surprised if we get this all finished by then. This is just not a realistic way to leave someone's home. It's like a discount home building site and not hooking up the plumbing or electric - sure, it wasn't in the contract but it's sort of necessary...and FYI, "spackling" was in the contract but beware. They insert a foam plug in all of the 300 holes in the house with a light glue-stick like swab over top which is literally nothing worthy for paint-ready. I held off two weeks for writing this because I was so mad and I guess I'm still angry! Sorry all, but can't in good conscious recommend, not this company, but this product. Spend more up front and it will be worth the month's manual labor that you will otherwise be doing or paying for in addition to fixing your temperature situation.

    Virginia Home Remodel LLC
David and his crew were a pleasure to work with. We have worked with several companies on home improvement projects. Any qualified company can perform the work. The factor that differentiates one company from another is how they respond when something does not go according to plan--and in any major project, there will ALWAYS be something unexpected. We want a company that stands behind its work and does not raise the price when the inevitable snag occurs. This company gets an A+ in that area. David communicates well, takes pride in his work, comes back to fine-tune things even after the project is completed, and his bottom line is making sure his customer is happy. His workers were friendly and professional. We love our new addition.

    Adelphia Exteriors
Adelphia Exteriors just completed a big re-roofing and re-siding job on our house and we could not be more pleased. It was so nice dealing with this established famiily owned company. From the beginning they were extremely responsive, returning calls promptly and always showing up when they said they would. It also helped a lot that they were very experienced in dealing with insurance claims such as ours. Except for a few unavoidable weather delays the actual installation went smoothly. Roofers and siding guys were a pleasure to work with, cleaned up thoroughly afterwards, and the final result looks great.

    Capital Insulation LLC
Terribly. Initially, Karl was very nice and communicative and gave me a very reasonable estimate for the work. He showed up, we chatted, and he was recommended to me by a co-worker, which is why I initially contacted him. I received his estimate and I accepted it (he gave me two estimates for two different projects and I accepted one estimate). Only, this was last fall and the weather was getting too cold to do the exterior work, because whatever material Karl wanted to use (foam, or caulking, possibly) needed to cure properly and it was tool cold. So, he said to wait until spring. When spring rolled around, and temperatures were high enough, I contacted Karl to get on his schedule. Instead of getting on schedule, I was sent a new estimate, for the exact same scope of work, but the price increased. I was confused. Last November, I accepted, estimate #153200, for $588.53, and then, just months later, I received a new estimate for the same work for $644.25. The work description was the same, but the rate increased. I wrote several detailed emails to Capital Insulation but received no explanation or response. It was bizarre. It's as if Karl simply did not want to do the work. He never returned my emails or calls. I guess it wasn't worth him to do the work. I'm rather disappointed, and feel like this is not only unethical, but just poor service. I realize Capital Insulation gets very good reviews, but I cannot recommend this company.

Brad was very responsive to my initial call and came out quick for an estimate. He worked with me to determine the best solution for our attic and even provided me with multiple quotes for different options, with the goal of saving us as much money as possible. The job was completed about 2 weeks after the estimate was given and Brad showed up personally with his crew to ensure everything went smoothly. All of the workers were very professional and courteous and made sure to clean up any mess after the job was done. The job was done very well and on budget, I really couldn't ask for any more in terms of price or level of work.

    Summit Environmental Solutions Inc
I strongly advise anyone reading this to stay away from Summit. Chris, the salesman, sounds like he knows what he's talking about and says that they will encapsulate the crawl space and clear any rodents the right way. I contracted with them because they said they could correct everything that JES did wrong. But the reality is that they are no better than JES. The crews have no idea what they are doing and the front office is clueless. Where to begin. They did not provide a vapor barrier or install the dehumidifier properly. When I called, they sent crew to install the dehumidifier. But, they didn't provide a drain, so all the water created a lake under the dehumidifier, which now drains into the house. They said they did the initial rodent treatment and then called to schedule the follow up rodent treatment. When the guy came to do the follow up, he said it didn't look like they did the initial treatment. I could go on. Do not use this company.

    Home Energy Saving Solutions
Our insulation damage problem turned out to be a bigger job than expected. Throughout, Mohammed and his team/s were a pleasure to work with. They kept us informed so we knew what to expect - and they delivered this and more. A snag we hit was attended to quickly at no extra cost to us. We were told to expect a cooler house - we definitely got this! I'm delighted to recommend Mohammed and his team as competent, value for money service professionals. And they are real gentlemen as well - all of them.

PermaTreat Commercial & Residential Pest Control
I had a mouse problem in a rental property, called Perma Treat and they came out within 3 hours ( full disclosure, I have an annual pest control contract with them), they correctly diagnosed the issue as mice nesting in the attic. We had them remove all old insulation and installed new TAP insulation. They followed up after 30 days and there are no signs of mice. The workers were courteous and cleaned up well during and after installation. In fact, because we felt so comfortable, we had them come out and do the same for our own home! Highly recommended! Ralph was excellent in explaining everything.

    JES Foundation Repair
It has been 4 years since we first contracted with JES to encapsulate our crawl spaces. At the time, I wrote a fair review based on the appearance of the crawl spaces. Since that time, we have had mice and broken humidifiers. At first, JES agreed to replace the humidifier and asked me to modify my review in 2014. After the second dehumifidier stopped working this year, we again noticed a large colony of mice and mold. We have now had three real encapsulation services look at the crawl spaces and give us their assessment. Bottom line, JES may be good at basement sealing, but they have no business holding themselves out as a crawl space encapsulation service. To name a few of the improper practices, they did not seal the crawlspace (including the vents), they improperly installed insulation on the crawl space subfloors rather than installing wallboard insulation, and the humidifier was improperly installed. I am also informed that they used Home Depot grade vapor barriers (meaning less than 8 mil) and did not provide a proper overlay between the sheets (e,g, on foot overlay). I could go on, but you should not contract with JES to do a crawl space encapsulation. We now have to contract with a real encapsulation company to remove everything and do it properly.
