    Sturdevant Construction
At first Naham appeared very interested in helping us outline our project and we trusted him. He is very personable, but watch out. After the contract was signed, that is the last we ever saw of him. This after he insisted we contact only him if we had any problem with the job. He would not return phone calls or come to the job site to review the work. He completely subcontracted the work out but provided little to no instruction on the scope of work to them. The workmen did not come until way after the completion date in the contract and they had no idea of what was required. They were not even provided a basic plan (such as it was). There was no co-ordination of the door supplier for the correct install and the details in the contract were very poorly outlined. We thought we were in good hands. Had we known Naham operated this way we would have insisted on a much more detailed complete set of drawings and contract. The contract only served to protect him. The job was a disaster and only after the sub contractor understood what had happen did they try their best to complete the work. But without proper complete plans and communication from the start, many mistakes were made. The materials arrived and were not what we had agreed to have installed. They were custom made and not returnable and were the first glimpse into what the project would end up being. For example, these door openings were to occur in particular positions and were installed in the wrong place. This was Naham's responsibility to oversee the job properly executed, but he did none of that. We got so upset with Sturdevant and Naham that we finally just paid them to get rid of them. We were told he had done hundreds of such enclosure but it became clear he had done precious few. We had asked to get a certain pattern of class in the doors (5 over 3) before signing verbally but Naham quickly forgot what was said, and only the contract became his position. I should have written that right on the contract and made him sign it back then. He also uses a WEB based sight but it did not tell us when the crew would come, or the job start, or when they would return. We canceled a number of future larger projects with him and his firm, and would never recommend him or Sturdevant Construction in Newport News to any one now. It was a very frustrating experience on a simple little job...they stole the joy out of it completely. Stay away from this guy he is too slick. He got his money and we have a memory of what not to do. Watch out and read the reviews this in not an isolated case.

    Frank's Siding and Repair Company
Frank responded and came out to give me an estimate. His estimate was reasonable, so we struck a handshake deal on the cost and he wrote it down on the back of his business card. I gave him an earnest deposit for the work. We agreed on the balance when the work was completed. He called back to say when he could start. Frank and his son, Jonathan, arrived on time and did quality work restoring the vinyl siding on my house. They reused as many pieces as they could and installed new ones elsewhere. I could tell they took pride in doing the job right.

    Exterior Home Improvement
Was referred to Nick from Pyramid Roofing. He was responsive and was able to fit me in his schedule within a week. Came out on a weekend replaced the missing and damaged pieces and took care of some other loose siding he discovered along the way.

    Adams Remodel & Repair
I couldn't be more pleased with Adams Remodel & Repair. The house looks brand new again after power washing the driveway and walkway, and replacement of the old outdoor lights; the floor squeak is finally gone; the side fence is no longer listing to one side; the doors beneath the jetted tub look wonderful and the cats can't  open them any more to crawl under the tub; and -best of all - the old DirectTV dish/pole (which has been inactive and an eyesore for 16 years) is finally gone! There's nothing I've asked Matt Adams to do that he can't handle. He always cleans up the work site. Today Matt is next door power washing my neighbors house because he liked the job Matt did on my house. If I need anymore work done on thls house, Matt Adams is the person I'll call.

Very good.  At first I was a bit concerned that the wooden claps weren't lining up properly but he took them down started over again and got it right.  Punctual, courteous, very reasonable pricing.  A true pro!

    Belletto Construction Inc
Ok, I quoted this project to one other contractor and I was felt more comfortable with Mr. Belletto, just had a better gut feeling. I am not always impressed with the cheapest but it just so happened that his pricing was neither low or high. On the initial visit, I wasn't positively sure how I wanted to change my bathroom, but I had some ideas. Dan was very good at explaining pros and cons for any option I discussed. He recommended the transom window for my shower...this was discussed a lot...we were not sold on it but he was sure it would be the best option. We are very happy with the outcome of this window. Dan delivered the quote faster than he said he would. I took a few weeks to get back to him and when I called to ask about signing a contract, the follow up visit was far so good. We were told the project may start in about 30 days (approximate) and he gave me a shopping list ( we will be purchasing all of the designer options- tile, grout, vanity, fixtures, etc.) Be warned!!! This is a tough task. It's hard to visualize it if you are not a professional. Dan provided recommendations for contacts at various suppliers. We ended up exploring some others too and used some of his recommendations and some of our own. The project was delayed a few more weeks then originally stated, but it was not a big issue for us, we were fine with the delay. We tried to have all of the supplies in our garage prior to their start. For loads that will cost you a delivery fee, Belletto offers to pick it up from the store for no extra cost. I was stunned by that offer...and relieved. I was praised for having all of the items purchased and ready for install. Be prepared, you might need to still shop for stuff, or get extra of something...this is just part of the process. Our house is not that old, so there were not any expensive surprises like you see on TV shows. I was so worried about that. These guys are good at keeping it mellow. The crew was made up of Kenny and Clarence. The guys were nice and helpful. They gave you their opinion if you ask, but be sure you talk it out and let them know...they are not mind readers. Be prepared for possible time off or necessary absences. It happens, just like any job. It did happen and if we were concerned, we talked to the owner. He responded with some extra help to keep the job moving. I completely trusted the guys in my house and they spent a lot of time with my dog. They even took her out to go to the bathroom and would check on her if they has not seen her in a while. The guys would make changes if we changed our minds (nothing crazy, maybe move an outlet after the drywall was installed- I felt bad making the request, but they reminded me it was part of the process and not a big deal. If it was big deal, they hid it well. Please offer your coffee machine to these guys, they like to drink coffee and they don't really take lunches...I wish I had realized that sooner, I might have given them some snacks and offered up the coffee pot sooner. I love all of my new features in my house! We did feel like this took a long time when we were in the middle of it, but looking back it was...well we were so happy to have our house back, we forgot the pain. Every bit of it was worth it. We love love love all of it! At the end their was a bill for the add-ons, we were fine with the cost and had a piece of mind that we didn't have to do the last minute items ourselves....some drywall skim coat after I removed the wallpaper in my kitchen, we updated lighting in the spare bathroom and added some new faucets in the bathrooms....they did it and were happy to make that change for me at a moment's notice.

    Jayhawk Exteriors Inc
He called me when I first purchased the deal to try and schedule. He wanted wait until he could come and take a look, but I was not at home. He tried to reach me a few weeks later after coming out and gave me a quote that was ridiculously expensive. I had a different quote for $16,000 less than what he was wanting to quote me for this job.

    Boyd's Construction
They were great to work with. Most of my communication was with Andrea Boyd, who proved to be very helpful in choosing materials and colors. We don't live in the house and are trying to sell it so we wanted to make improvements that would be most helpful in attracting a buyer. The house is in good shape but is older, so needed some upgrading and modernization. From the start, Boyd's was great in making suggestions for needed improvements, then in giving us a good price and providing help throughout the process in choosing the best colors and materials. They were helpful in making small changes to improve rooms that we didn't want to do a lot of work in. They did a great job on the complete bathroom remodel. We've had our neighbors and our real estate agent look in on the progress since we don't live close to the house anymore. Andrea was also good about sending photos of the work. My neighbor and real estate agent, who are both very picky, reported that the work was of very good quality. It has made a huge improvement in the appearance of the house. Overall I am very pleased with the quality of the work, the price and the whole experience. The house was for sale for a full year before we did the work.  Boyd's has just completed the work and we already have an offer. I honestly think the good work done by Boyd's was what made the difference.

    K A Contracting
I called Kenny because of all the positive reviews on Angie's list.  He came out, gave an estimate and out of everyone, he had the best plan of action for our investment property.  I felt confident in just "handing him the key."  Him and his employee had the job completed in under a week, and worked very independently.  I have since hired him to do other jobs at our other rental properties.  He is honest, does not short-change you, and will tell you, exactly what you need to know.

    Ryan's Repair Services LLC
Appt set up with wife Annette who is very helpful and pleasant. Kevin showed up when he said he would and took samples of siding. He returned with two others to do all the work on scheduled date. If three people show up it is now 3 man hours per hour on location. All work was completed in a satisfactory manner. Kevin and crew are nice folks and did quality work. In fact, when they completed the work I scheduled two more visits for work to be done. Later had Kevin come back and build shelves in my garage and another time put in a new overhead light above our pantry and replace another kitchen light. a lot of work and paid him about 1100.00 for both visits/jobs (parts and labor). fair price for work completed. i plan on using Kevin Ryan more in the future.
