    Sturdevant Construction
At first Naham appeared very interested in helping us outline our project and we trusted him. He is very personable, but watch out. After the contract was signed, that is the last we ever saw of him. This after he insisted we contact only him if we had any problem with the job. He would not return phone calls or come to the job site to review the work. He completely subcontracted the work out but provided little to no instruction on the scope of work to them. The workmen did not come until way after the completion date in the contract and they had no idea of what was required. They were not even provided a basic plan (such as it was). There was no co-ordination of the door supplier for the correct install and the details in the contract were very poorly outlined. We thought we were in good hands. Had we known Naham operated this way we would have insisted on a much more detailed complete set of drawings and contract. The contract only served to protect him. The job was a disaster and only after the sub contractor understood what had happen did they try their best to complete the work. But without proper complete plans and communication from the start, many mistakes were made. The materials arrived and were not what we had agreed to have installed. They were custom made and not returnable and were the first glimpse into what the project would end up being. For example, these door openings were to occur in particular positions and were installed in the wrong place. This was Naham's responsibility to oversee the job properly executed, but he did none of that. We got so upset with Sturdevant and Naham that we finally just paid them to get rid of them. We were told he had done hundreds of such enclosure but it became clear he had done precious few. We had asked to get a certain pattern of class in the doors (5 over 3) before signing verbally but Naham quickly forgot what was said, and only the contract became his position. I should have written that right on the contract and made him sign it back then. He also uses a WEB based sight but it did not tell us when the crew would come, or the job start, or when they would return. We canceled a number of future larger projects with him and his firm, and would never recommend him or Sturdevant Construction in Newport News to any one now. It was a very frustrating experience on a simple little job...they stole the joy out of it completely. Stay away from this guy he is too slick. He got his money and we have a memory of what not to do. Watch out and read the reviews this in not an isolated case.

    Big Mike's Maintenance LLC
I called Mike after one of the boards from the gable came off during a storm and noticed the others looked to be in bad shape as well. Mike was very able to give us an estimate from a picture I emailed him and said he would check the boards on the other side of the house when he came out. We ultimately ended up deciding to replace the slats on both ends of the house the day work was to begin. The crew removed all the old wood and cut the new boards to match the size of the old slats. They then painted, caulked and also replaced the screen located behind the slats. The weather was not cooperating the first day and it started to rain after the slats were down, but they made sure the house was properly protected till work could resume. They also worked late when they returned to finish up the bulk of the job. Mike and his guys were all friendly, extremely knowledgeable, and quick to address any concerns I had- they really want a person to be happy with the end result. We were very pleased with quality of the work and would hire again.

    General Home Improvements
BETTER than Great Job! I have used him before and will use again if any future projects. He is the best Carpenter I have ever dealt with. He does a great job! He communicates quickly and with professionalism. He does professional grade work with framing, building, door hanging installation, sheet rock, trim... I have recommended him to family and friends. He goes above and beyond in his work and has very fair pricing.

    KITCHEN EMPORIUM
Outstanding work and attention to detail. Work involved removing a fiberglass jetted tub and installing a new vanity and custom shower, and retiling the floor. Also had significant drywall repair due to previous leaks. Bathroom looks better than when the house was built. Rob and all of the contractors were easy to work with, took time to understand our desires and provided input based on their experience when we were "stuck". Will definitely use Kitchen Emporium for future work.

    The Painter, Inc.
Wonderful! The owner came and gave the detail of the work to be done. Warranty, etc. was superb. Estimate was within reason. Workers were courteous and professional. They even provided a color consultant. We couldn't be happier.

    GRANT DRYWALL & PLASTERING
Dean and his team did a fantastic job. They are truly the best of the best - meticulous, extremely hard-working, professional, and easy to work with. We have textured walls in most of our home (knockdown) and the drywall/plastering repairs were so well done that you would never know that repairs took place. It was obvious to us that this contractor takes pride in the quality of their work (unlike the original home builder). If you want the job done right, this is the contractor for you. We would hire Grant Drywall & Plastering again in a heartbeat.

    Tidewater Pro Build
How did it go? Most Excellently! 1. Responsiveness and communication our initial inquiry got a response within a day. Throughout the renovation, communication was excellent, and there was always someone onsite who was in charge of the day. Everyone was open to our questions, suggestions, comments and new ideas, which allowed changes during the process which turned out to be great. 2. Design & materials selections We met with the contractor's designer a few times to begin planning, talk budget, and explain our expectations, wants and needs. Next we met with the contractor who had additional suggestions and ideas which turned out saving us a bit of money. They were very familiar with the materials, supplies and various brands, and made recommendations based on what we wanted. Selection of materials was a fun process, looking at some in their office, or shopping for what was needed. 3. Quality & Punctuality - very good workmanship and attention to details such as with the various moldings and trim painting, and with tile work and grouting. They showed up when they said they would. 4. Project scope - The project included kitchen renovation, master bath and second bath renovations with floor plan changes, opening up the main floor plan, entire interior house painting, new floors throughout, and a few window and both exterior and interior door changes. We already had a lot of custom molding and trim work, and they were able to preserve it, or copy where needed to keep the same look through the house. 5. Professionalism Everyone was always great. They were respectful to us, and our property. 6. Overall - We were pleased with every member of the team who worked on our project including the Tidewater Pro Build team, their electrician, and all the other subcontractors such as the masons, plasterers, and plumbers. From start to time of completion, a 12 week period was planned. It was extended only by three more days due to unexpected issues which were addressed to our great satisfaction. We lived in the house during the renovations which they planned in stages so we always had a working bathroom and shower, and bedroom, and made sure we stayed as comfortable as possible during the project. 7. We are very satisfied with the price we paid, and know it will greatly add value to our home. Weve received many compliments on the work and recommend them highly. Trey and Caleb were a pleasure to work with, as was their entire team.

    All-Pro Painting Inc
I called Tim on a whim to get prices... first of all, I compared their price to 2 other companies, and they were the most reasonable and the most personable. I called to get on the schedule, and to my surprise, they had someone on the job the next day. They showed up on time, extremely courteous (especially knowing that I was working while they were painting). They were so polite! I also thought it was really nice that Tim stopped by to introduce himself on his way to another job. They definitely take care of their customers.. Enough about that, the job itself... he did such a great job. We've been putting off painting our stairs forever, which became an eyesore, now I can't take my eyes off of them. I've already recommended this company to another friend who's been looking for a painter. Check them out!
