Bike Repair reviews in Suffolk

I was in search of a mountain bike with a frame made especially for women. This tiny local shop was not my first choice because it is dark, dusty, and seems men-focused. But they really surprised me and came through for me! I told the employee that I was a former mountain bike racer and he respected my search for a new mountain bike that fit better than my old racing bike. I was completely taken seriously, unlike at other, bigger shops I tried out first. They did not try to tell me what I wanted/needed like other shops did. They had only one women's model in stock. I had a sweet test ride. It rode great and fit me perfectly (it was leftover because it's a bit smaller than the norm) I was convinced, though, in my head, that I wanted a brand-new bike with fewer bells and whistles but when it arrived, the fit was not as perfect as the older bike that I test-rode. The shop had no hesitation in telling me that I was not required to buy the bike I had ordered and happily sent me home with the older bike that fit me like a glove. Their coverage includes free yearly tune-ups forever with my bike purchase, and that includes the semi-complicated maintenance on the disc brakes that I was shying away from initially. Although the customer service is not fawning and they are not good at calling to tell you when your bike is ready for pickup after repair, or your ordered part comes in, I still like this place because they had no qualms about dealing with a women and getting me exactly what I wanted. I am one happy mountain bike rider!

David Runyon helped me to choose an economical bike helmet that fit my needs. As a former FEMALE mountain bike racer, I am very aware of not being taken seriously by bike shop employees. Mr. Runyon was GREAT. Very professional and respectful even though he did not know my history. He was very polite and also suggested add-on purchases. I will definitely return to this Conte's location for more items.

The Sales Manager, Mr. Sandy Protich, did not approach me even though I was obviously shopping and my husband was obviously babysitting...he approached my husband to ask if HE needed help. When told it was his WIFE who needed help, Mr. Protich still did not approach me where I was shopping to see if I needed help. Not off on the right foot for sure. After I hovered around the front desk for some time while he chatted with a fellow employee, Mr. Protich finally asked if I needed help. I told him what I was looking for, a new mountain bike, and he instead immediately brought me to a HYBRID (not a mountain bike). He told me the bike fit me great (it was too big). I was not offered a test drive...just a ride around INSIDE the store (ridiculous). Apparently this was the ONLY women's specific bicycle they had in the whole store. He did not offer to order me any other models, tell me what other companies they carried, nor discuss women-specific design with me at all. He was just trying to convince me that the ONE women's bike they had in the store (last year's model) was the exact perfect model for me.
