The quote and communications process took a long time and I had to proactively ping the PM for updates and status to confirm installation date. There were some delays with siding order and a return trip was needed BUT the end product is fantastic! The crew was fast and professional.

    Cox Construction & Contracting, LLC
Cox and his team did fantastic work, and were pleasant folks to be around. Think about every bad thing you've experienced or feared regarding home contractors. Now think of the opposite of all of those things. That's Thomas Cox and his crew. Clone him immediately! Why are you still reading this? GET TO THE CLONER

I initially contacted Jos, as well as other contractors to finish the entire basement. During the estimate he was very thorough, you can tell he was very passionate and knowledgeable about his craft. He came up with great suggestions and detailed how he envisioned certain aspects. After researching, I decided the best route for me was to do some work myself and hire professionals for the big things. Since I really liked Munoz Construction from my previous estimate experience, I purchased the 'contractor for a week' deal (2 workers, 40 labor hours total) in order to complete the framing. Prior to the start of project, Jos came by, took measurements, walked me through the timeline and explained the materials needed. Upon the start of the project, Jos and his crew showed up right on time and carried the lumber from outside, down to the basement. Throughout the 'contractor for a week' deal (20 hours), the crew worked two 10 hour days. Jos came by a few times each day to check on things. After each day he walked me through what was completed and what was left. After the deal was completed (40 labor hours), 50% of the framing remained. I was quoted a fair price for the remaining work and the crew retuned the next day to finish the job. The last day, the crew, including Jos, worked hard for 11+ hours to get it done. Overall, I am very satisfied with the job Munoz Construction did. Particularly in the following areas: - In the half bath area, a waste pipe was awkwardly placed, blocking the door entrance. Jos brilliantly moved the pipe and framed around it. - The stars are pretty old and weak. Jos reinforced the stairs with lumber and now they are very sturdy. -The wall along the stairway. This is probably what makes Jos stand out from all contractors. He took 2X4 studs, crafted an amazing wall frame (the wall slopes along the stars). Every contractor and inspector that came by, complemented his work. The building inspector passed the framing with no issues. The crew did an excellent job and worked very hard. I don't think I was the best customer, as I could of praised their work more. Jos and his crew are very honest and highly skilled, I would gladly hire them again.

Outstanding job. Very responsive, easy to reach, replied quickly to messages and generally did a great job! His crew came on time each day and was very efficient. We will definitely hire them again. Jose Munoz is a great guy to work with and his crew is excellent. He went the extra mile to explain everything to us and visited the job site numerous times to assure everything was going smoothly.

First visit, with photo in hand got lots of help and education re what would work best. Selected matting and frame. Next day realized I may have chosen a frame not best suited for this very old (in sepia tones) photo. Returned told Leslie what I thought would be better style frame. She found the perfect one. On scale of 1-100 I'd give this service a 200!

The work was excellent! We did 3 pieces and they were paintings of my grandmother. The framing was in rough shape and after they did the work, they looked fantastic! The price was a little high; however, very well worth it. We do plan on working on a new frame job in the future.

Everything went very well.  They really understood how I wanted to the framing to turn out and made great recommendations on a technical and an artistic level.  Furthermore, the staff member with whom I dealt was very helpful, the framing turned out perfectly, and the cost was reasonable considering that the photograph is quite large.

The renovation went great.  Lester and his workers at Mclean Home Improvement stuck to the 2 week delivery time-frame to complete our full kitchen remodel even after additional work was added to the original job.  Lester was a true professional from the first visit where he spent as much time as needed to get the design correct on the new kitchen.  He wanted to make sure it was perfect for us.  He even made some great suggestions that we added to the design.
The crew showed up on time the first day and worked every day until completion and my family was thrilled with the end results.  Lester could relate to our schedule because of his young children, and wanted to make sure to meet the 2 week delivery as agreed upon.  This was extra important, because my 21 month old daughter and wife went to live with Grandma for the 2 weeks during the renovation.  We wanted them to move back into the house as soon as possible and leave the workers with room to work.  The kitchen turned out even better than we imagined.
I have recommended and will continue to recommend Lester and his crew to friends and family and whoever asks if I know of a good contractor.  Mclean Home Improvement does an excellent job for a very reasonable price.

I contacted MHI via the Angie's list quick contact feature Thursday morning and received a response from Lester a short time later (within an hour). He came to the house later that morning to examine our situation (water damaged drywall in the basement that needed repair). He made the suggestion to install a new type of access panel ( we had a home made one that had become damaged for the main cutoff and clean-out and for the pressure reduction valve, we had just had an opening in the drywall). He described the repair that they would perform including matching the existing paint and gave me a total price for labor and materials and told me they could start the next morning.

The next morning, they showed up on time and spread tarps on the floor from the door to the site of the repair and downstairs to keep the place clean. They got to work right away. After repairing the drywall with a fast drying compound, they used a heat gun to speed the drying and prepare for finishing and painting. The work was done on-time, as agreed, and the result was even better  looking, with the new flush access panels and paint, than I expected.

I took pictures before, during and after the repair. Maybe there is some way to attach these.

    Persimmon Woodworking
I have lived in my house for over 30 years with the original kitchen. The cabinets were falling apart. The drafts coming through the walls kept the kitchen very cold in the winter. The pantry was so small I kept my kitchen supplies in the linen closet down the hall. The refrigerator had no ice maker and the vinyl floor was peeling up. I spoke to several contractors and even started with one that did not follow through on his promises.
I spoke to Paul about the design of my pantry to make it more spacious and what type of door frame was possible to keep the opening wide enough to have a freezer door open without losing interior shelf space. He was so helpful that I decided to ask him to be the general contractor/ custom woodworker for doing the whole kitchen. I knew Paul built custom homes and that his attention to detail was just what I needed.
Paul had a lead on a good cabinet company and from there we worked on the floor up. Paul was very good at organizing the jobs and working with the subcontractors. He has so much experience that he even helped the sub contractors. He always made sure the job was ready for the next step. Making the holes for the overhead lighting so the electrician was not delayed in installing the canisters. The cabinets were so level the counter installers had a easy job for installation. My original counters in one area had a one inch gap. Paul made sure the walls were plumb and straight! Paul even helped with the final counter design shape. I had extensions from the cabinet face and he knew how to describe the curvatures I needed.  Paul did not cut corners to do a job. The porcelain  floor was placed over a well prepared surface. He worked very hard with a diamond cutting machine until the surface was clean and level. He worked even when our air conditioner broke a couple of times in the summer time. Of course we did get the air conditioning company out to our house ASAP. Paul was very careful in protecting our new floor, cabinet, and counters as he worked.
I had full overlay cabinet doors to the ceiling. The doors open beautifully and smoothly. I do not know how he did it but there was not a scratch on any of the cabinets after installation. Paul was even cost conscience. He found a beautiful piece of Formica on sale to put into my pantry. Not only did it look fantastic it was also very strong to hold all the canned goods I needed to store. Paul made sure all the holes from the outside were sealed and insulation was placed. Yeah no drafts!
I had designed and built a spice draw in my old kitchen. Paul was able to make me a new and improved version to match my new cabinets. It is one of the amazing aspects of many in my kitchen  that I show off to my friends and family. Paul made custom window molding, thresholds and storage space improvements. After a year I still tell my husband  (and others) that I love looking, working and showing off my kitchen. I could not have picked a better person to work with to remodel my kitchen  - or anything else when I need to.
