    Superior paving and masonry
The folks 2 houses up had sidewalk work performed by Superior Paving & Masonry. And used a wheelbarrow next to our homes, storm drain. Which opens into our back yard. moving material up the street. At the end of the job discarded excess material down the storm drain. We just had our street redone and beautiful. They left concrete on our street that will not hose off. Most of all who pores wast down the storm drain. Reported to Algonkian District Loudoun County Board of Supervisors.

I was blown away by the work performed by Falls Church Paving Company. They returned my initial call in less than 24 hrs and began our project within 2 business days. Unlike the other companies that I received quotes from, Falls Church Paving used a crew of 4 to 5 and over $100K worth of equipment to include a paving machine and a vibratory roller. FC Paving removed and hauled away my existing 20 yr old driveway, installed 21A stone gravel base and widened the right and left sides of my driveway using 3" of asphalt. I was impressed with their precision and workmanship - especially after speaking with several contractors who were going to lay asphalt on top of my existing driveway and only hand stamp - no paving machine or roller - at a higher cost no less! Falls Church Paving even let me purchase PVC piping for my invisible fence at the end of my driveway and they didnt charge me extra to bury, install and reconnect it! I would highly Falls Church Paving for any Asphalt work.

    O'Reillys paving and sealcoatIng
Terrible at communication. Substandard overlay of asphalt on previous base. They left a couple of lines in the asphalt which they refused to fix, but still claim there's a 5 yr warranty. I couldn't get it fixed same day as install or any time I followed up for weeks afterward. They also left a crooked line between my neighbor and my driveway. My neighbor had their driveway redone 6 mos after mine and it looks far better and their pavers fixed the crooked line. I recommend staying away from these guys.

    Academy Sealers
Academy Sealers did a superb job sealing my driveway. I very much liked the way they kept on top of the weather and notified me accordingly if a reschedule was necessary due to rain in the forecast. I would rather wait and have a perfectly cured (dry) driveway than one damaged by rain. I would call on Academy Sealers again in the future.

    Academy Sealers
This company was very responsive. After sealing the driveway, we were concerned about a few areas. We emailed them pictures. A manager came out, looked over the work that had been done and offered to seal it again at no cost. Academy Sealers did a very good job. We will definitely use them again.

    Haines Paving
It was an all day job and the crew worked from 7:30 am until 7:30 pm. They did an excellent job and were very professional. Noticed the next day a spot that needed to be tampered down. Called Haines up and they sent someone over the next day to take care of it. We were totally satisfied with the job done and their follow up.

    John Donohue Asphalt Paving

I hired 'John Donohue Asphalt' to pave my driveway.

My only concern, which I mentioned to the owner and employees before hand, was that when done, please make sure water will not drain back to my garage. I was assured when they pave driveways, they create a crown down the middle forcing water to flow to the sides and not back to the garage.

The day after paving, I decided to test the drainage with a hose and watched water ponding in front of the garage.  I immediately called the owner and before I got done explaining the problem, he interrupted me angrily and said "well that was a dumb thing to do; you should've done your water test while I had my expensive machinary sitting there".  He kept yelling and wouldn't let me get a word in, and when done, he hung up. In shock, I called back and when it went to VM, I calmly left a msg to call me back.  He called back and same scenario.  He texted me later saying that he'll stop by and never did. I sent an email which also went unanswered...

Besides the unprofessional behavior, I'm shocked how a contractor would expect a customer to back check his work.  Additionally, not honoring their work nor the warranty stated on the contract.    I paid hard earned money for their work...

I waited 2 weeks & hired 'Collegiate Sealers & Paving' to come out and take out their work & do it right. They water tested before they left & everything was perfect.

I'm amazed on how some contractors stay in business ???

I have nothing but good things to say about Falls Church Paving. The estimator Sam came over right away and gave us a decent price and the work was started within 2 days. The crew worked hard, the edges looked great and we were so pleased. Initially I had set something up with another company but they left me hanging. That turned out to be a good thing because I was well pleased with who I ended up working with. I've already referred them to two people so far.

    John Donohue Asphalt Paving
I'd tried several contractors, but most of them didn't even return my calls/emails. I emailed John Donohue from Angie's List mid-afternoon on a Friday. Within 15 minutes he called me, and offered to come out around 5:00 the same day and give me an estimate. He did just that, arriving about 5:15, accompanied by his engaging young son. He looked over the driveway and its issues and told us what he thought needed to be done. This tracked exactly with what we thought needed to be done, as opposed to the one other estimate we had gotten, that wanted to totally remove the current driveway at much greater cost. Mr. Donohue took off 10% for the Angie's List discount, and gave us the estimate, which we agreed to. Then he said he had a crew in the area the next morning, if we wanted it done the next day. Of course we said yes! and sure enough, Saturday morning at 9:00, his crew rolled up and started working. As it turned out, some other neighbors saw them there working and asked if they could get their driveways done too. In all, Mr. Donohue did 4 driveways in our neighborhood that morning, and they all look amazing! The crew was done with our driveway by 2:00, so total elapsed time between my email to Mr. Donohue on Angie's List, and completion of the project, was 24 hours. Full marks all around for professionalism and a great product. Mr. Donohue clearly valued our business, unlike the other contractors I tried to contact, and clearly knows his! He just came out and got the job done. It was a great experience, and I highly recommend him.
