    TYL Remodeling Inc.
We have been extremely pleased from the first moment we contacted TYL. We were treated as valued customers and not as an inconvenience. TYL was extremely patient with us as we ended up changing the scope of the job a couple of times. All of the folks that communicated with us reiterated how grateful they were for us giving them the business. Throughout the entire process, there was consistent communication as to what to expect and when. It's such a pleasure to have a business with integrity that does what it says and says what it does. We're extremely pleased with the end product which is even more beautiful than we had imagined. We are recommending TYL to our friends who are considering remodeling within their homes and we will not hesitate to contact TYL for any future remodeling needs we may have.

We have enjoyed the design process and we are currently active in the renovation process now. The team is professional and very open with communication. We are excited to see the final product and enjoy our investment for years to come.

    Boss Design Center
Nine months ago we gave up on trying to find a lower priced kitchen contractor who was good at communicating and followed through on his promises. After a short conversation and a VERY rough estimate we hired Boss Design, again. After a few months of thoughtful planning with Boss Design we had our materials selected and budget in place. The project began on-time. The workers were polite, tidy and efficient. Every stage of construction remained on schedule. The project was finished a week early and on budget - no surprises, period. Do yourself a favor and call them when you want a project completed on-time, on-budget and with no drama.

    DIY Kitchens & Baths LLC
This is a great locally owned business! While remodeling our kitchen we went in to work with Frank for several things. He came up with a new design and layout and it is beautiful! We actually saw 3D images before we signed the contract and it is exactly the same as we hoped to be. This business is 100% committed to happy customers, and you really feel it! Above and beyond what is expected! We are new in the area and engaged DIY Kitchens Baths to do significant renovation of a home we bought in a Lake Anna community. Since we are busy during the week it was extremely convenient to select all materials at DIY's One Stop Shop Showroom (cabinets, countertop, tile and etc.) There are not enough superlatives to describe how pleased and happy we are with the outcome, and with the entire experience of working with this Company. Frank, our project manager, is an extraordinary person to work with. We were impressed with him from the moment we met him, and it was his presentation that really sold us on using DIY. His stated goal: "I want you to be happy." He meant it, and worked tirelessly to make it so. We saw immediately that he really knew his business. It is worth noting that each member of the crews that did the work, especially Tony and John, were uniformly pleasant, timely, and worked remarkably quickly. The work was done neatly, and nothing was damaged! Also, we especially liked that after the initial deposit, they asked for payment only after each stage of the project was completed to our satisfaction. Our friends are incredulous when we say that we enjoyed our contractor. These folks are a pleasure to work with.

Everything was delegated to the project manager, who missed every single deadline or commitment that he made. He would make mistakes and then try to convince me that it was what I had asked for, despite going back to the very detailed designs and drawings to show that it was not. When they did complete something, it was never right on the first or often every second try. The amount of rework, made you think that their labors were actually looking to increase their hours. At one point, they threatened to pull all their workers and leave us stranded, when I refused to make a milestone payment until they had resolved and completed more of the work correctly. We actually had to take a major part of the project away from them due to constant delays and poor quality. We pulled the kitchen remodel and gave it to another contractor, who did a better a better job and completed in 4 weeks, what HDE could not get done in 4 months. In the end, HDE was fair and negotiated away all of the work that I had to pull from them, or they failed to complete. I will give them credit for being fair on the pricing. They also did quality work on the wall painting and crown molding and trim that they did complete. But overall it was a very painful experience. If you really want someone who will be customer service oriented, and do what they say they are going to do when they say they will do it - go to Decor Floor & Kitchen in Sterling, VA. Ask for the owner "Ray." His company is outstanding.

    Kitchen Saver
Our installer, Ken, was a meticulous, master craftsmen. He made sure every small detail was perfect. Showed up promptly at 8 am every morning and worked all day with a brief break for lunch. Always cleaned up before he left, so we would be disrupted as little as possible. John, the project manager, was great - checked in often to make sure we were happy or had any concerns. Our kitchen is gorgeous! We are extremely happy. The first picture shows the old kitchen, the second and third are the new!

    Range Construction, LLC
Greg Montgomery is one of the best contractors I've ever worked with. Our vision for both the kitchen and the master bath started out a little vague but Greg kept listening and making suggestions and almost always had the same answer, "that would be awesome!". Better yet, the execution was perfect. We pulled together a mish-mash of used cabinetry, vanity top, vanity, tile, sinks, faucets and other materials and he made it all work together like a dream. Greg re-finished the cabinets, installed additional cabinets to expand a kitchen island and created a new butler's pantry where one didn't exist previously. He tore out an original master bath and replaced it with a contemporary open shower, new tile, and pieced together a beautiful vanity from various parts we had collected from different sources. We couldn't be happier with the results. Greg is extremely detail oriented, never missed a day, always pleasant, and keeps the disruption to a minimum. When using sub-contractors he made sure they were as punctual and detail oriented as he was. His fee was extremely fair and recognized that we were trying to stay within a budget. There was never a "take it or leave it" attitude, our dealings were all about what's possible. You won't regret giving Range Construction your business.

    VA Premium Cabinets & Renovations
Would never hire again or recommend. Hired to remodel master bath after interviewing and receiving estimates from 5 companies. Not the lowest nor highest price...all in the same range. All gave estimates of 4-6 weeks - we figured 2 months. VA Premium started demo early June, work finally done early Dec. Six months. In week two I expressed concern to VA Premium owner that only 1 person had been on the job every day. Was told that would change, especially after demo. Did not happen. I raised the concern many times, never changed. There was more than 1 worker here maybe 15 days out of 6 months. Part of reason for hiring VA Premium is for them manage the job so I don't have to. That never happened. Owner came to our house once in 6 months after work started, had no idea what was happening at our house unless I told him. First "foreman" was unqualified and unhelpful. He came to the house once a week or every 2 weeks, and told the only worker (a sub-contractor) to go faster. Never provided any help. There was a problem with the shower design; the sub and I designed a fix. The foreman told him he had to build it the original way; I had to tell him no. There was no quality management from VA Premium; the quality management was me meeting with the sub almost daily to go over work completed and identify items that needed attention. There is a long list of items that had to be done at least twice on this project below...these all had to be identified by me. The story about the cabinets sums up this company's work. The second payment in our contract was tied to delivering the cabinets when ready for install. Owner told me it was time to deliver the cabinets. I told him the floor wasn't even close to installed. He insisted, even after we told him we had no space to store them. I asked him if they had inspected the cabinets since we were buying them now. He said they were perfect quality. A few weeks later, when they were finally ready for the cabinets, here was the condition: - 1 was completely wrong size and had to be reordered - 1 had cracks in the door we could see through - After install, one was unfinished on the exposed end On the exposed end above, their initial fix was to stain the rough wood...not even sand it. Taking a short cut, terrible work. Regarding the payments, the sub and VA Premium employees said multiple times they wanted us to pay so they would get paid. Very unprofessional. The bathroom and our garage were a complete disaster during the job. Tools, trash, materials all over the place, dust and dirt left everywhere, no organization. Also very unprofessional. Here is a list of items that had to be done twice. All identified by us, not because VA Premium was managing quality. And many of these caused arguments with VA Premium to get them addressed. - Cabinet issues above - Replacing a 7' piece of granite that they installed broken, and 5 other pieces that were not right - Lights wired on wrong switches - Shower tile installed wrong - Shower drain plumbing wrong. VA Premium had to go through ceiling below to fix; I said don't start unless fully repaired for Thanksgiving, they did start and it was not fully repaired for the holiday - Wall and ceiling repair and paint redone multiple times - Toilet paper holder fell off - anchor installed wrong (fixed by me) - Towel rack fell off - anchor wrong - Failed electrical inspection Most items above caused arguments with VA Premium to get them fixed. First fixes were often shortcuts. Stain on unfinished wood. Attempt to "fix" broken granite for 2 weeks while we argued it had to be replaced. These issues and the 6-month timing caused many arguments with the owner until he would finally agree. One time he even questioned our "christian values." Only reason for 1 * on quality is we like our new bathroom now. But the process of getting there was very stressful, and way too long. Signing off now to fix the hole in the wall from the towel rack anchor being wrong - a 2" hole. Less

    Range Construction, LLC
I was referred to Range Construction by a small group on Facebook.  Their services exceeded my expectations.  Both Greg and his partner Norvin are the most humble people in the business.  Their work is pristine.  I dreaded the mess I was going to come home to after the project was completed.  To my surprise, their was no dust or residue to be found.  During the process of the renovation, they took the appropriate measures to make sure nothing was disturbed during the renovation process.  Their skill set & craftsmanship is remarkable.  They were a joy to work with.  I would most definitely use them in the future, as I have plans on doing a deck early spring.

    Passarelli Remodeling LLC
There was no attention to detail. Window sill damaged, wall damaged, cabinets damaged, cabinet doors not adjusted, molding not cut correctly, nail holes filled in with crayon like a two year old was coloring. Took three weeks to come back and finish and more damage occurred. Did not answer phone or text messages. I payed up front and wanted to be reimbursed the amount I had to pay a new contractor to make all the necessary repairs with no response.
