    John Weaver General Contractor/Carpentry
I have no complaints, John is fairly priced, has an excellent work ethic explains things completely and is extremely talented. I'd highly recommend him. He seems to work mostly in the Madison/Culpeper areas but has done work for me in Stafford. I won't use any one else.

    Pro Source Contracting
Pro Source Contracting worked with my Insurance company to get my Roof replaced due to Hail damage. Minimum effort on my part and envolvement with the Insurance was required to get it started and coordinated. Even got upgrades worked into my claim. Very professional and courteous throughout the process. Accessible at any time when I had questions.

    HIVEX Basement Finishing Co.
Dee Bee Home Improvement is an excellent company that strives to fully satisfy their customer in every detail. This was evident from the first meeting and the detailed estimate thy provided. They were the only company (of four estimates) that truly listened to our desires and made sure to explain all possible options and limitations ahead of each step in the process. Dee Bee was also the lowest of the four bids, by a considerable margin. They are a trustworthy, courteous and hardworking group of professional craftsman. Dee Bee Home Improvement did a complete redesign/renovation of our basement with approximately 740 square feet. The renovation of our basement included a proper egress and the addition of a bathroom, which was not previously plumbed out. The end was everything and more than we were hoping for. They provided amazing attention to detail and were incredibly responsiveness to our questions. These guys are full service -- from creating the design to following through in making it exactly as it was planned. Everyone we interacted with at this company, from the person answering the phone to the owners care and work hard to make one's renovations go smoothly. We would definitely use Dee Bee Home Improvement again and would highly recommend Dee Bee Home Improvement without reservation to anyone seeking a basement renovation.

    Garrison Homes LLC
Mr. Garrison is great to work with. I needed carpet installed in my new home and I contacted Greg. Within three days carpet was installed and workers were very proficient and did very clean sharp work.

    Augustine Homes
They suck. I now no longer have excessive ice that forms on the inside of the house. I only have excessive condensation with the slight amount of ice. That was problem four. The driveway was problem three. Problem one was for a water source bubbling up out of the yard. It was a brand new house. And then in six months they were like, "Not our problem. Somebody must have hit it digging." We've almost gone to court twice. It was all part of the original construction that occurred in December of 2013. Some employees were great. President of the company is the problem.

    Amador Construction, LLC
Johnny Amador is a true craftsman. Not only did he beat all other quotes, his attention to detail and craftsmanship goes above and beyond the quality of the builder of our new home! We just moved to our new home and needed some extras. Johnny was referred to me by a friend and I had seen he work at her home. I was aware of his work from a job he did for me at my last home.
There was never a need to call him back to correct anything as he is a professional. It all started with us hiring him to build a closet for our basement bedroom. During this time he noticed I had other contractors coming over to provide quotes for other work I needed, i.e. Stairs, Shed and Pavers. I was not initially aware of Amador's vast building experience. As a result, he quoted me prices for the same job and assured me that he would build it better with quality materials not listed in the quotes. I was not initially prepared to spend $15k all at once but I could not pass up the opportunity. More importantly, his quality of work and attention to detail stood out.
He built the stairs leading from our porch (that came with the home) matching the trex and vinyl hand rails, he did a greta job laying our stamped concrete patio that is 400sf.( for 1/3 the price of y quote for pavers) and my shed is the best in the neighborhood.
Amador is hands down the best contractor in NOVA! I have owned two homes in my 10 years here and I will not allow anyone to work on my home but Amador! Call him!

McGrath is one of the premier companies in Northern Virginia that we work with.
The are extremely responsive to their customers, and insist on quality service with a quick resolution to problems at their properties.
With the large amount of properties they manage, I think they do an outstanding job on taking care of their clients.

The community manager was knowledgeable and put NO pressure whatsoever on us.  The build manager is the nicest most caring guy you could ever hope to meet.  He actually built our current home when he worked for a different builder.  So far, the experience has been terrific and their home quality seems above and beyond anything in Stafford.

    Augustine Homes

    Not well.

House sited poorly on 3.5 acre lot resulted in no tree line to screen the house from neighbors (a 30 foot shift would have made all the difference). Requests for replacement trees unanswered for over two years despite promises to address. Close proximity to extreme left side of lot resulted in restricted entry turning radius into end load garage.  Site landscaping  contours removed nearly all topsoil (despite assurances) and created excessively steep/narrow swales that channeled runoff water into rapid rivers instead of wide, shallow slow moving runoff areas.  Sod planted on top of rocks that created dead spots in summer.  Seeding areas that never grew despite in-ground sprinkler for watering (repeated requests to hydroseed like adjacent neighbor unanswered). Shrubs and trees planted in small clay holes that prevented drainage, drowning plants roots in water (all but two removed and replanted).  Drywall hung on wet, green studs that created literally hundreds of screw pops that were then poorly repaired (requiring me to fix them a second time).  Busted plumbing vent pipes in the basement and an unfinished area of busted concrete under the basement bathtub and unsecured plumbing pipes in walls (all subsequently repaired by Augustine under close supervision).  Shoe molding improperly installed.  Torn carpet mats installed and repaired with painter's  masking tape.  Four (4) trips to remove and replace improperly installed wooden flooring.  Improperly sized, bargain basement  HVAC system (too large), howled excessively and was both inefficient and ineffective.  Eight trips and more phone calls and more phone calls than I can count resulted in a "repair" that didn't fix the problem and violated building code.  After involvement with county inspectors and much wrangling, (and more money) HVAC system replaced with an efficient, correctly sized model.  (I have photo and/or video documentation of each of these issues).

I've managed to fix nearly every problem that I can and I can say that this is now almost the house I paid for, though it has cost me immeasurably in time and frustration (not to mention financially).

If you're going to buy a house from these guys you better have a lot of time to supervise and do your homework in advance on what is required, versus what they plan to do.  As one other online review noted, most buyers don't want to comment as their afraid it will affect resale (it won't if you supervise and fix their work)
