    Resurrection Builders, Inc.
Resurrection Builders did an amazing job planning out and building our new Trex deck! The price was fair and they finished the project sooner than quoted. I would definitely recommend them! Very professional and prompt!

Before & After Home Improvement Co
Disgusted Customers Rick Fisher d.b.a. Before and After Home Improvement I am only giving a 1 star because I cannot go any lower. If you want professional and courteous service that also includes communication about delays and crew no shows, do not hire Rick Fisher and Before and After Home Improvement. My wife and I hired Rick Fisher and his company in the latter part of June 2018, to build a stamped concrete patio; a small composite deck; and a pergola with the electrical kit for the ceiling fan. The project finally began on August 7, 2018, and was completed around August 28, 2018. We paid Rick approximately $26,000 in 3 timely installments according to the contract. We exceeded our budget on this project because we were impressed with the pictures of Ricks previous projects and his reviews. Dont believe the hype. It all started with Rick not being able to obtain the county permit for the pergola due to his drawing which lacked specificity to the dimensions and materials used so the structure would be able to withstand strong winds. Rick advised me the permit office required him to hire an engineer which I would need to pay for him to subcontract to provide that information for his drawing to resubmit to the county permit office. Rick never mentioned this to us before we signed the contract, nor was it stipulated in the contract. Ricks solution was pay for an engineer or dont do the pergola. I took initiative to contact the permit office and speak with the manager to arrange a meeting with her and Rick. She was able to assist Rick and get the permit approved without the need for an engineer which would have been at my expense. During the course of this project, my wife and I spent entirely too much time, energy, and efforts addressing issues with Rick relative to his lack of responsiveness and doing the job he said he would. These issues were within his span of control and frankly he failed miserably. The materials are of a decent quality, which is why the pictures look great on the web, however; the customer service, commitment to doing the job right is a serious problem. Rick says he only does one job at a time and he will be on the job site everyday to ensure things are done to standard. This was simply not true. Rick has a lot of projects going on and he rarely came by our home. He was not responsive to my calls or text messages regarding his presence and multiple other issues that required communication. Rick told me the job was going fine because he saw the pictures of what was being done. I demanded that he come by my home to physically inspect the progress. He came by and some adjustments were required. Rick does not give you specific days or times when he will come by even when you are requesting a specific day or time. I had to send multiple text messages and calls to get him to do what he initially said he would do. The project was completed on August 28, 2018. On October 7, 2018, I contacted Rick regarding the rust on the staples holding down the electric cord on top of the pergola. Instead of utilizing galvanized staples or some material that does not rust as a result of inclement weather, his crew used regular staples to hold down the electric cord. Now I have rust running along the top of this expensive pergola that we paid Rick about $8,500 to build. The electrical kit was an additional $1,500 approximately. Rick has not come by my home to take care of this issue as of yet. We have a manufactures warranty on the material but nothing from Rick covering us on the workmanship of the project. On October 18, 2018, he sent someone allegedly from his crew to resolve the issue, however; the worker was not prepared to resolve the issue and was going to replace the staples with more of the same staples. Complete Nonsense! I advised Rick this was unacceptable. The deficiency would not take more than 2 hours to resolve, but Rick refuses to come out and take care of it. Its such a small job, I cannot get another company to come out to do the repair because its not feasible. One reputable contractor said he cannot believe the company who did the work did not have the professional common courtesy to fix the problem. In addition to this, when Ricks crew excavated the yard to lay the patio, they were supposed to leave a trench sufficient for water to flow into the storm drain. Now we have standing water in the yard when it rains. The yard had a trench before they began excavating and we had no issues with standing water. Its going to cost me $1,000 to have this problem resolved. Perhaps its all in the name: Before and After Home Improvement. Beware, you will need repairs Before and After Home Improvement allegedly completes your project!

Resurrection Builders did a good job building my deck (12' x 12' composite with cocktail rails, rafter and lattice privacy screen on one side). Ryan worked with the design I had in mind and made it a reality. Turned out better than I'd hoped. He was patient as we sorted out to details of the design. Once my HOA approved the design the build time was fast including time for inspection. I believe it took less than 1 week. Resurrections Builders was also accommodating and changed the design last minute at my request at minimal cost.

    Fletcher Construction LLC
When Matt's crew finished our roof, they did a great job. They cleaned up and did not leave a nail in the yard or the pool. Our yard was immaculate. Matt did such a great job that we had him back to replace all our windows. His bid was lower than Lowes or Home Depot. The windows are easy to clean and lift. Matt's crew removed all our blinds, and of course we were to put them back up. My husband had shoulder surgery and was having a tough time putting up the blinds the next day. Matt stopped by to look at the job, saw my husband struggling with the blinds, and told him he would send his guy out the following day to put the blinds up for us. The following day, Matt's worker came over, spent 3 or 4 hours putting the blinds up for us, and did not charge us a cent. In this day and age you just don't get A-one service like this anymore. Matt and his workers went way above the call of duty. We are having Matt and his crew come out this month to replace our deck and enclose it as well. His work is excellent, his workers are hard-working, fast and meticulous, and Matt goes the extra mile for his customers.

    Performance Home Improvement
PHI was amazing. I could not be happier with the quality of the work, the care with which my home was treated and the personal service we received. Mr. Brown did a wonderful job repairing storm damage to my roof and siding. Additionally, I contracted him for gutters and the porch and stair railings. The work was very honestly priced, and he worked so well with my insurance company on the siding and roof. Ed Brown is very knowledgeable and experienced. His crews are top notch, professional, friendly and very hardworking. This experience is the best I have ever had with a contractor. Ed is kind and honest and goes out of his way to help others. A quality rarely seen these days. My pets are even fans of Mr. Brown, and that speaks volumes about his character. The roof is of the highest quality and the siding is absolutely wonderful, sturdy and beautiful. The gutters are amazing, they are channelled so the water actually goes where we wanted it to go. The gutter covers are very sturdy, and I am so excited to not have to clean them out ever again! My highest recommendation is given to Mr. Brown and his team. Thanks PHI, I could not be any happier! PHI is my new go to for all our home maintenance and repair needs; thanks to the hardworking and friendly team at PHI, our home is beautiful.

Mr. Ferriss is an artist, a professional, and wonderful to work with. I had a disaster of a backyard, and he designed and installed a beautiful patio with fire pit, an adjacent garden and gazebo, and appropriate and tasteful lighting. He further added definition and landscaping to the yard. His work reflected attention to detail and customer satisfaction. His work is like he is building it for himself. So much pride goes into his work. We were very pleased with his work and have enjoyed it immensely every day since. You will not be disappointed.

    John Weaver General Contractor/Carpentry
I have no complaints, John is fairly priced, has an excellent work ethic explains things completely and is extremely talented. I'd highly recommend him. He seems to work mostly in the Madison/Culpeper areas but has done work for me in Stafford. I won't use any one else.

    Prestige Deck & Fence
Our real estate agent recommended Prestige - we were negotiating with the builder, and at one point the builder hinted they might be willing to build a deck instead of reducing price, so we asked Prestige for an estimate. They sent someone out, returned with an estimate. Builder backed away from that... but it still didn't mean we didn't need a deck. We also needed to have a fenced in area attached to the house so we could let our dogs out to do their thing. When we called to talk more about the deck, and to ask for an estimate on the fence, they were a little edgy about doing the whole design discussion remotely, but I was in NJ, couldn't get down to VA until we closed on the house, and needed that fence in as soon as possible after closing so we could move our dogs down. So, we did a couple of scheduled calls, where we swapped photos of the property and back of the house, and designs, and they decided they were OK working remotely, particularly since the fencing wasn't terribly fancy or a huge area, and the deck we wanted was simple. We scheduled the fence work to begin day after closing, and the deck to begin later in the month. As we approached closing, we decided we'd like to find a way to not completely cover the walk out basement sliding glass door, nor a large window. Another call, where Prestige suggested just rotating the deck so that the long edge went away from the house, which kept the window and sliding glass door open. Really minor changes to costs as the stairs were now a bit more complex. We asked them about extending the fenced yard area, and the designer came back with photos of why that would be hugely difficult - the fenced area was already pushing the limits of fencing on an incline. Nice. Good explanation - not just "no" but here's what is likely to go wrong, and here's what you're likely to be unhappy about. Really, you pay companies like this not just for their labor, but for their knowledge. They gave good advice. As usual, something glitched on closing so it had to slide one day, and Prestige was fine with that. They showed up really early the day after the ACTUAL closing and after introducing me to everyone on the crew, jumped straight into work. Shortly after they started, they discovered that the propane tank had been moved slightly since they'd done pictures, and was now in the way of where the design was going to go. That also meant that the planned location of the gate would be on a steep incline, not an ideal thing. We talked a bit about how to change the design to have the same linear feet, adjusting a bit on the other end of the house and moving the gate. The crew talked with the office, and we were once again in action. The change did require them to do a little fabrication on a gate post since it was now opening a different direction, but that went smoothly. That fence was not an easy task- the yard slopes STEEPLY downhill, but they managed to get the fence inches from the ground everywhere anyway, in one case they did a little creative landscaping work, digging here to put the dirt there, where there was no way to make the fence work otherwise. In other words - they delivered on the PURPOSE of the fence, to keep the dogs in, and not just on the design of X feet by X feet. They were able to start the deck earlier than expected. Again, they arrived to start very early, and again made sure I'd met everyone on the crew. They worked over the course of a week, and did a nice job of tidying up each afternoon before they left. A few things about the deck were new to me - like the design of the solar lights - and they gave me great explanations of how they worked, why these particular lights were better than some others, same with a few questions I had about the railing. When they were done, they cleaned up the yard really well, spread grass seed and straw over all the disturbed areas. Very nice. That day I realized that a neighbor had their deck started the same day as ours... but they were still just framed in, we were complete. Overall a great experience. Whenever I talked with people at the office, from receptionist to the owner, they were pleasant and friendly. Both crews were really nice guys - always said hello when I came out, always ready to answer any questions. And, they worked hard. All the work got done exactly on the schedule they'd given me, and ahead of what I'd expected. We did get another bid and it was so wildly off base I spent some time talking with them, and basically they really hadn't been listening well. Prestige always listened, always asked questions, always explained. We'd hire them again in a heartbeat. I told the owner I'd be happy to be a reference for them. It was clear to me that the owner and everyone else values the company's reputation. That's who you want doing work.

The representative was very responsive both in coming out for an estimate, and in discussing the options available for this project. Once we decided to go with this company, the rep was out the next day to get a contract signed and begin the permit process. Resurrection builders took care of the demolition, getting the permits and building the deck. Once the permits were obtained the deck was built within days, and it looks great. The county inspection was set up and it passed the first time the inspector came out. The construction crew were diligent and worked hard to make the deck, and exhibited good workmanship. I'd definitely recommend to give this company a try, especially if you're looking to support smaller, locally owned businesses.
