AWillis Builders IncWe asked Willis Builders to remodel our two bathrooms after they did a great job helping deal with water intrusion (upgrading to wider gutters, rearranging downspouts, installing a sump pump). Both jobs were overseen by Leo, who did great work and was extremely helpful when we discovered we'd forgotten something or didn't have enough of XYZ because the pandemic slowed shipping down. I would gladly hire them again!- Nathaniel R.

AKitchen SaverFantastic. We are a big fan of these guys, especially Dave D. who did the coordinating on the ground. He made sure all the workers completed their jobs on time. He answered our many, many questions. They finished earlier than planned and it is beautiful. Highly recommended!!- Mark G.

AKitchen SaverEdgar Machado of Kitchen Savers is the consummate professional. It was immediately clear that he was a highly skilled craftsman, and the results show it. He executed the job on schedule and was considerate of our time and space. In addition, he resolved several minor complications, such as fittings with the countertops and some legacy trim work. In summary, we would work with Edgar again without question. We recommend him to anyone.- Michael F.

AKitchen SaverWe hired Kitchen Savers to help remodel our kitchen. After a few delays due to COVID-19, work got under way June 1st. Hasan the installer was awesome. He spent 5 days in a row with us doing demolition, resurfacing the cabinets, installing the new oven/microwave, crown molding, etc. Kitchen Savers was very professional and nicely orchestrated their subcontractors (Rock Tops for the countertops, electrician for the under cabinet lighting, plumber to install the sink and garbage disposal, etc.). We are very pleased with the workmanship and the final outcome. Even when we had an issue with one of the cabinet doors a few weeks later, Kitchen Savers sent out a workman to rehang the door with a double hinge and solved the issue free of charge. The only negative comment is that while Kitchen Savers works with subcontractors for certain things (i.e. countertops, etc.), that is where things end. So you have new cabinets and new countertops, but no backsplash. That's kind of crazy. If you want a backsplash or wall tile between the countertops and cabinets, you are on your own to fine another contractor. Likewise for flooring. This caused some issues as our floor contractor wanted to demo the floor before the cabinet work was done and we had to do a bit of juggling. It would have been nice to have one main contractor who organized and scheduled all the subs.- Daniel N.

AJW Home ImprovementIt went well. Happy with overall results, although the estimated time frame ended up getting extended due to needing to do extra work that was discovered as necessary mid-job. Scheduling was great, Alberto and Javier were great and very professional. Everyone involved was timely, responsive, and friendly.- Jeremy F.

AMarks-Woods Construction Services, LLCMarks-Woods easily ranks number one among the contractors we have worked with over the years. Our project was executed within budget and beyond our expectations with a focus on process, quality and customer satisfaction, from start to finish, from the most prominent feature to the smallest detail. They are committed to a job well done and every last member of their team was a delight to work with. It's such a pleasure to work with good people who do good work, who who remain flexible when the unexpected happens, who correct problems without balking when they inevitably occur, and who maintain a sense of humor throughout. Marks-Woods has earned our very highest recommendation.- Matthew R.

ARIBA Construction LLCWe have used RIBA Construction for several projects now, and each time the experience is fantastic from start to finish. From the very beginning of every project, Richard and his entire team are clear about the process and what it will entail. Communication is grade A, as he is interested in helping you make your vision come to life. I can’t speak enough about the knowledge that he has in the field and his attention to detail. He not only knows the best products on the market, but he has a great eye for what looks good and values your input while making the best choice for your needs/wants, style and budget. He helped us decide paint colors for each of the bathrooms that we remodeled, helped us with the kind of marble tiles that would best fit the design of one of the bathrooms, and also suggested a great nontransparent type of window pane for the bathroom in the front of the house to make sure it can’t be seen into. Richard is very hands-on and isn’t just a name somewhere in an office. He’s always just a phone call away, and makes it a point to check in on-site to ensure that everything is running smoothly, because he is genuinely interested in the work that he does, always providing the best possible service & quality. The team leads are great at communicating as well, and they make sure that any unexpected issues (if any) can be mitigated quickly and efficiently. The end result always turns out better than expected. We’re very happy with RIBA’s services, and highly recommend using them for your construction and remodeling needs. We’ve had an incredible experience each time and will certainly be using them for any future projects.- Tamaruth O.

AF.H. Furr Plumbing Heating AC & ElectricalThey did an exceptional job! Everything looks great! I described myself to Bob Michaud (the plumbing supervisor) as probably the client from ****. I contacted him about little things a lot, but he handled it all professionally and met all my expectations and beyond. There was a small snafu when a few days after they finished the supply line to the toilet began to leak and it caused some damage... but FH Furr was on top of it! They got their restoration folks out there and took care of it. Stuff happens and sometimes things go wrong, but the true display of professionalism and character is when something does go wrong... how does the company handle it. FH Furr handled it the right way... and I appreciate their work and would hire them again!- Thomas C.

FCraft began my 3 week bathroom remodel in January 2020. Now, 8 months later, the work is still not complete. Working with Craft has been an absolute nightmare. Craft scratched my new bathtub, installed my shower doors backwards and at different heights so the doors would not close, four of the faucets they installed leaked, and the marble shower floor had so many cracks and scratches it had to be totally replaced. To make matters worse, Craft initially denied there was a problem and Jose Arias, the foreman told me that "marble is a soft stone and you have to expect scratches and cracks after it is installed." Jose then threatened not to make the necessary repairs unless I paid him an additional $1,500. Next, Craft stained my bathroom floor tiles with sealant and, after four attempts they have been unable to remove the stains. In addition, the grout on the floor and in the corners of the shower walls have a growing number of cracks. Two independent contractors have evaluated the issues with the floor and shower walls. Both concluded that Craft improperly installed the floor and recommended it be replaced. The contractors also explained that Craft had improperly used grout in the corners of the shower, rather than flexible caulking which is the industry standard. Frank Aksoy, Craft's project manager has told me that "the small spots do not prevent you from using your bathroom" and he is done making any additional repairs. After all of the issues I have had with Craft, I wondered why Craft appeared to receive so many positive reviews online. That question was answered when I saw that Frank Aksoy had been writing glowing reviews for Craft on both Google and Houzz. This is obviously dishonest and enethical, but based on my experience it is consistent with the way Craft conducts business.

AA few months ago, I had a sewer back up in my basement bathroom. It ruined the bathroom and the flooring in half the basement. Insurance sent out adjusters and did an assessment. To remediate the removed flooring and drywall. The same company then came to write the adjustment. When I received the report of what the insurance company would cover and what their preferred company would actually do, I knew I had to get several estimates. It took me a few months but eventually I found Home Breakthrough through Angies List. Let's start with the immediate call back to my inquiry by the project manager Honika Johnson. She was very professional but moreover she could hear the sense of urgency in my voice when I told her my bathroom had 3 feet of broken drywall and no floor for the past two months, She told me upfront how busy they were and she didn't want to give me any false hopes, it could be till December until they could get the job done. She would reach out to the designer to see if he could come to my house asap to at least give me an estimate. She called me a few minutes later to update me that she could not reach him but as soon as she did, she would let me know. She did, The very next morning, the designer Francisco Victoriano came to my home and looked at the scope of the work. He was very busy, he had contracts signed for months, that probably paid a lot more than mine. But he knew I had small kids and needed a working bathroom. Long story short, He started work the following week. He was upfront about labor costs, he wasn't cheap-but his final product would be guaranteed for 6 years. We went together to pick put all the materials, he gave me solid recommendations for what was best and why. He also had minimum standards too, he's not going to sign his name to work that is done with cheap materials. If you are looking to skim on final product, this isn't your company. His craftsmen, Giovanni and Master Cesar started work the next day and worked for 5 days straight, What they did is a labor of love. My bathroom is unrecognizable. I love LOVE it! It might not be as grand as his other projects but to me, it's everything to see how I added value to my home but going with his company. I would happily recommend Honika, Francisco and his amazing team to others for their remodeling needs-

MAC design+build is Northern Virginia's best choice for complex remodeling, room additions, custom homes, kitchens and master bathrooms.
Recent Review:
AWhen seeking a design firm to remodel our large outdated kitchen, we searched for a company that would create a unique and dramatic outcome. The design was complicated and required sophisticated and experienced designers, engineers and procurement crews. MAC design listened to all our wish list items, incorporated almost all of them, but offered their own dramatic design inputs and ways to achieve our goals in more cost effective ways - they took our dreams and brought them to life. Many companies we spoke with said they could do anything we wanted. But from the beginning, MAC took the time and effort to develop the true feel for what we wanted, and then meshed that with their own design skills to create a contemporary AND practical kitchen - not simply executing whatever we thought might work or be interesting. We certainly were prepared to pay what it takes to achieve our goals, but MAC inserted reality into the process, often proposing solutions that saved us considerable sums in various areas. All members of the MAC team were dedicated to their tasks, often going the extra mile to get an aspect just right vs. adopting an easy, off the shelf solution. With their experience and contacts, they were even able to have custom items fabricated that were more cost effective than off the shelf. It was touches like these that took the project from nice to over the top and grand!

FDuring demoliton of the old deck, workers were not very careful of cladding which got bent up and the existing electrical was just dropped below the deck. A surprising number of deck boards were not laid with the outer rings facing up which will eventually cause cupping and hold water. Leo's wife came to collect the final check and I showed her the issues so Leo could come and look at the discrepancies. Leo never showed up and does not return calls after we tried to reach out to him. His price from the estimates we received were the same as three other estimates, and we chose him as he seemed knowledgeable. I would not recommend this company for deck projects.
