The wall paper removal, painting prep and painting was excellent. Much better than i expected. They spent a considerable amount of time prepping including filling nail holes, sanding and wiping down the walls before they painted. The corners are perfect and the trim beautiful. They painted the entire inside including ceilings - 9 rooms. I highly recommend the team for painting. They also did some remodeling - finishing the laundry and craft rooms from concrete walls to clean and finished. As part of that it included minor plumbing and electrical. All work was done well.

From the moment I placed the order in August 2018 to the 6th time they blew the deal in January 2019, it was a horror show. I can't believe a local firm with a small-business vibe can be so incompetent. I ordered the storm doors for about $2000, and some 6 weeks later, they offered to come out and take measurements. I thought they were going to install the doors at that time! And then they said it would be 2 more months until the doors were ready! And then they called and pushed the date back again! And then the doors finally arrived....broken! And then they set up another date to install again, and then called to cancel and push it back until after Christmas! And then I told them to cancel the while mess, and they wanted to charge a 20% fee ($400!!!). And then I notified the Better Business Bureau, and then they decided to cancel without a fee! But wait! There's more! They then called 2 more times to schedule the installation, and I couldn't help but yell "What an incompetent company! That order was cancelled!!!!" Even worse, getting someone on the phone who could make decisions and solve problems was impossible. Getting someone on the phone who was willing to identify themself, provide a callback number, or elevate a concern to a decisionmaker was impossible. It was like you're dealing with IBM, not Thompson Creek. And did they even bother to make it right? Did they even offer to cut the price or provide any compensation for the **** they delivered on an unsuspecting customer? Save your money and use someone else.

The work was completed on time and on budget but enough problems arose that I doubt if I'd use JW again. I should have known better when the estimator, on his first and only visit to my house, put pressure on me to accept their estimate on-the-spot. That was a huge red flag but I was in a hurry and the quoted price wasn't crazy, so I signed. But be warned: JW's estimators will pressure you. Things ran smoothly once I was handed off to a project manager. Bob was both professional and punctual. He came out and measured the existing front door so that we could order the new custom door to fit the existing space. I also purchased a new storm door and had it on-site ready to install as well. The installers arrived promptly and were both friendly and efficient. By the end of the day, however, some issues became apparent. First, moulding that surrounds the door frame at the top was a good 1" higher than it had been. This was obvious because the moulding continues horizontally for the length of the wall. It had been level, now the door section was much higher than the rest. Also, the gap between the door and the wall varied vertically from top to bottom. Seemed like something wasn't level there, too. As a result, the door lock just barely made the reach from the door knob to the wall lock plate. Even a slight turn and the door would pop open. The lock plate itself looks to have needed several attempts to alight correctly, leaving unsightly cuts in the wood around it. The storm door was installed properly but they appear to have incorrectly installed the removable glass section. I discovered unused retaining strips in the materials instead of on the door. I brought these issues to Bob's attention and he scheduled the same installers to come out and affix repairs. Unfortunately, the didn't bother to coordinate schedules with me and instead just showed up at my door one morning by surprise. Rather than send them away, I took a few hours off work so that they could get to work then and there. They did resolve the gap issue but at the cost of even more unsightly cuts in the wood. They were, however, unable or unwilling to address the curious height issue that left me with uneven moulding. Overall, the work was completed but the quality wasn't the best and the communication from the installers was zero. This saddens me because they were quite friendly. I just wish they'd done better work. Granted, perhaps my expectations were too high but I assumed that the final product would be showroom-level. Not so much.

We are very happy to have called Jim the Handyman to perform the necessary work. The door technician that was dispatched to perform the tasks is an individual named Neil. Not only was Neil prompt and very professional, he is a super friendly person. He is considered to be the magic man when it comes to all things related to doors. I really thought I was going to have to have some of the doors replaced. However, Neil was able to perform his magic and now the doors work perfect. Neil also provided some valuable tips about performing maintenance using simple products to ensure the doors last for a a long time. This was money well worth paying for;I would recommend them and hire them again.

We've hired JW for everything from painting to plumbing, carpentry, pressure washing, outdoor and indoor work. The approach where you pay by the hour for all manner of tasks instead of parceling them out to different service companies has worked so well for us! They send the best person for your particular job. And they are consultants too...they will give you ideas on how to correctly complete projects, as well as save money when you can. We like how responsive the office is, how the owner is still involved with the day-to-day, and the quality standard that each technician applies to his or her work. And if anything comes up (as it does with home repairs and life), JW will work with you on it. We've worked with 5 different technicians and 2 different estimators for four different days of work at two different homes. Highly recommended!

Omar and Jim were very straightforward about everything (costs and schedules, and changes to each as warranted). Both were quick to respond to requests and questions. While I rate Price as A, since All Renovations did come in as the lowest bidder of the builders responding to my request for quote, remember that this is northern Virginia construction costs, and anything you think of after-the-fact or didn't have clearly established with any builder will result in price escalation. Also expect the unexpected. Final cost over original estimate was a little more than 10%, which is what I expected from the start. It should not be looked upon negatively as it concerns All Renovations. Make sure everything is in order for work outside the scope of All Renovations. I needed a tree root pruning before the foundation could be started, but I didn't have it ready in time as the schedule required. The All Renovations crew needed to clear the roots to keep on schedule, as the arborist wasn't available for another full week due to schedule movement as a result of inclement weather. It cost more for All Renovations to do the root removal so the foundation could be laid, but that is because I didn't have it synchronized ahead of their schedule.

Graves Design & Remodeling just completed a major renovation of our master bathroom/sitting room and a total update to our kids bathroom and we are thrilled with the result! We absolutely recommend them if you are considering any size of remodel to your home!! We got three bids from highly recommended local contractors and Graves came in with a terrific design at a reasonable price. We decided to go with them because we felt as if they were as invested in our project as we were! This was our first construction project ever and we did not really know anything about what would be involved. Chris, Caroline, & Doug helped us from beginning to end with all the choices, big and small, we needed to make. They have a wonderful line of reasonably priced, high-quality products and have made strong connections within the community so when we went to stores to look at products, we felt welcomed as soon as we mentioned their names. The crew who worked on our project were consummate professionals! They were respectful of our living spaces while working and each day they cleaned up after themselves so we never felt as if we were living in a construction zone. Each day they laid down a drop cloth and each day they swept, wiped, and otherwise cleaned up. They were friendly and answered our questions. They seemed to really enjoy their job and the craftsmanship shows. There were problems with our home that no one could have known about (maybe the original builder of 40 years ago?), that needed to be fixed. While that was above the cost of the project, their prices to fix the issues were very competitive and we knew the work would be done right! We came in about at our budget for the original project, only going over because of poor original construction and additions we wanted as we moved forward. Most importantly, our remodel was completed within the window of time they said! Each inspection and our final walk through were a breeze because of the high quality of work. Nothing needed to be changed to pass inspection, which made our projects move quickly forward. We highly recommend Graves Design and Remodeling. They had great design options, they came in at about cost for the original design we approved, their construction crew are top-notch professionals, they kept our living quarters clean while they were working, they completed the work within the time they said they would, and most of all because we felt as if they were as invested in our project as we were!

Got all new windows and exterior doors. Window Nation had, by far, the best price. The installers were FABULOUS! The install took 2 days. They arrived on time, worked hard and left my house spotless! After 15 months I am very happy with the quality of the doors and windows. There was a small hiccup with one window and I had a bit of a problem with communication but I believe it was a one off. When I talked with management the problem was taken care of within 24 hours. I would hire them again.
