    Brian McDermott MD
Dr. McDermott is obviously a sought after and busy surgeon.  The wait time for my first appointment was above average in my opinion.   I had already seen another surgeon before moving to the Fredericksburg area so I knew I needed surgery and had some background as to what that would entail.   Dr. McDermott was professional and I felt confident that he was who I should use.  I  was interested in the anterior approach to hip replacement and he was the only one I knew who was doing this in my area.
His scheduler was not super friendly and seemed annoyed with me when I chose my date which I changed later in the appointment process (I thought the time was too late).  I think she should have taken more time to explain the options for various times and dates but she seemed hurried.
My surgery went well and three weeks post op I feel almost back to normal and have had no problems with infections or other complications.  I think Dr. McDermott is very skilled at what he does.

1.) It's usually easy to get in to see him or his PA. 2. When there is an issue, he is not afraid to refer you to a specialist. 3. He listens intently to your concerns. He examines carefully, and then he give his opinions. 4.) He carefully reviews my medications semi-annually.

He communicates very well, expresses his concerns well to make you aware of what he wants to watch out for. He is very careful with prescriptions. He was able to bring my cholesterol down dramatically with the smallest possible dose of a medication, plus diet and exercise. He gets to know you and treats you appropriately, treating his patients as a whole person and not just a list of medical complaints. His PA is very attentive as well and she will not hesitate to say she will get with the doctor and get back with me.

I have referred him to some of my friends already. I would highly recommend him to anyone. The guy is very good.

    Simon, Dr. William H.
We found Dr. Simon because I had a chronic ankle problem and had been treated with steroids and cortisol for years. I asked what the my podiatrist at the time what he was going to do, and he said Im not going to do anything, Im sending you to Dr. Simon.

Dr. Simon performed surgery. I was very afraid to walk on it first after years of having so many problems with my ankles, however, I followed Dr. Simons instructions to a T, and I have no pain whatsoever now. He completely resolved the issue after years of problems.

My husband has had foot problems also for many years and has had a number of surgeries. Dr. Simon came up with a procedure that resolved the issue and he is now able to walk without any pain either. We would both highly recommend him.

I was able to get a same day appt. I was seen promptly after arriving at the office. The staff was friendly and accommodating. The doctor took time to listen to my concerns and worked with me on what the treatment should be. I was very happy about the care that I received.

    Larson, Dr. Kurt R.
I went to Dr. Larson with hip pain which ended up being end stage hip osteoarthritis. It took 4 months to get on his surgery schedule, but he was willing to give me pain medication to get through that time. I ended up dislocating my hip replacement 3 times over the next 3 months. Mostly because I am hyper mobile and I wasn't as careful about restrictions as I should have been. This meant Dr. Larson was called to the ER Sat morning at 6 am two times. Each time, we discussed what would happen if he couldn't get it back into the socket without opening the incision. As the muslcles and ligaments heal, and tighten up, it's not always possible to do that. I've talked with many other THR patients online who have had dislocations, and many are dumped by their original surgeon because revisions era difficult, and less successful than the first time around. They often had to find another doctor to get a revision. Dr. Larson stuck with me the whole time and we discussed changes in the 2nd surgery to assure a successful outcome. I've now been 6 years with no problems in the hip at all.
I've seen Dr. Larson several times for knee osteoarthritis and It's not quite bad enough for surgery yet, but he's suggested many helpful alternatives, both mechanical and medical that have helped.

She is very personable.  Explains everything.  Discusses many treatments, allows patient input in their own care.
