    The Home Depot
It went very well. I did the installation myself, but they brought all the appliances here and took the old appliances away. Actually, we had to move the old refrigerator to the basement and take one out of the basement away. They did a very professional job, did everything that I asked, and they came when they said they were going to come. I am very happy with what they did.  Their prices may not be as good as I could have found, but I did have great prior experiences with Home Depot and they will stand behind what they do. I have had experiences with other places, in the past, and they don't always do what they say they are going to do, or do it at the right time, or want to charge extra for things. I would rather just arrange for it, know how much it is going to cost, and get it done professionally. Home Depot doesn't haggle. They have a price, you pay the sale price, whatever that may be, and that's it.

    Bray & Scarff
The visit to the showroom was pretty good, although that's when the confusion began.  One guy handled the appliances and a nice lady took our countertop order.  The appliance guy assured us that yes, we could have a gas range without needing to vent to the outdoors.  We did our own checking to confirm and ordered a lovely Kitchenaid gas range with dual ovens and a large Maytag microwave with filtering vent hood.  Both appliances, by the way, are spectacular and we have no complaints with those purchases.
The confusion:  we asked--repeatedly--if Bray & Scarff (B&S) would arrange for a contractor to install the gas plumbing to the stove since our existing stove was electric.  No, they told us, we had to do that.  Are you kidding?  You are supposed to be a "full service" kitchen remodeler and you don't offer this service?  Are you sure?  No--we don't do that?  We asked again.  Same answer.  We asked the lady at the countertop station.  Same answer.  Whatever.
We ordered the countertops we wanted, were told we'd get a free faucet--great--and went home.
The stove was delivered on schedule, but we spent ***SIX WEEKS*** attempting to get the gas plumbing connected!!  The quotes we got from plumbers ranged upwards from $1800 to run 10 feet of piping.  We ended up pulling the permits and doing the work ourselves (I'm an engineer and it's not that tough).  Lots of lessons learned.  After a few disgruntled calls to B&S, I learned that lo and behold, they **DO** offer this plumbing service, and should have done it for us, and it would have been less than we were quoted by the plumbers.  The store manager never made any offer to help us or to take anything off for our trouble.  Six weeks without a stove is quite an adventure in cooking with a crock pot, expecially over Thanksgiving and CHristmas.
    Now for the countertops...
B&S uses a countertop contractor who insists on the latest technology for "accuracy."  They wanted us to clear all our stuff off the counters so that their guy could use a laser device to get "accurate" measurements to cut the stone.  He showed up late, then spent several hours attaching tape all over the place before his "laser" could take the measurements.  Total time to measure:  7 hours.  It would have taken about an hour, tops, to measure the old fashioned way and draw a template.
When the counters arrived, guess what?  THey didn't fit!!  The installers had to spend over an hour grinding and still had to squeeze them in, and they weren't cut to my specs, and the corner shows that they two counters are not at the same height, where they should have been shimmed to match.  Further, the backsplashes could not even be trimmed to fit.  So much for modern technology.  That was 3 days out of my time.  No big deal, right?
I will not use B&S again.  Kitchen remodeling is a major disruption no matter how it's done.  Be sure you are going with a real "full service" remodeler who uses all his own people and not some subcontractor from out of state who doesn't report to the bottom line.

    Ashburn Piano Service
I have a piano passed to me that has been in the family since the 40s, but well maintained. I looked on the piano guild website for a registered piano tuner and compared reviews on Angie's list. I ultimately used Ashburn Piano Tuning because he is local. Mr Bishop was very professional and charged exactly what he told me the cost would be up front. I kept the house quiet and didn't talk during the tuning. Mr. Bishop arrived on time, and the service took about 1.5 hours ( it was pretty out of tune.) Now my piano sounds beautiful and finely tuned.

    We Remodel
    (1) Finished Basement
Will came over early May 2012 and we discussed our basement requirements. Our main basement requirements were a bedroom / full bath / wet bar with tile flooring / media center & rec room / carpeting. Will gave us ideas and listened to us patiently and took in all the details. Will then came up with superb CAD designs with 3D visualizations which could be updated on the fly and made things so much easier.
Nothing like an articulate & intelligent contractor who knows what he is doing and also is tech savvy. Will can take the customer's input and visualize it for them and customize it further with them the way a customer wants. If there are better ways Will does not hesitate to make suggestions and recommendations. The result is a quality product.
Decisions were made and the basement designs were firmed up.
Will and his team finished about 1200 sqft in the basement. They created a bedroom / full bath and a storage area. The Wet bar area / Media Center & Rec room and lighting was excellent. The painting / electrical / plumbing work were all very good. Even the building inspectors commented on the quality work of the finished basement.
As for us we are EXTREMELY HAPPY with our finished basement. We have received compliments from neighbors, family and friends.
The finished basement cost was approx $40000.
    (2) Hardwood Flooring - 1st Floor / Steps to basement and flooring for landing areas
We also asked Will to all take on our hardwood flooring requirement for the 1st floor and steps to the basement.
    We had unique requirements:
    - The hardwood flooring had to match the builder installed hardwood in the entry foyer.
    - And since the hardwood flooring on the 1st floor would impact the family movements in the house, we asked Will if all this could be scheduled and completed during the week of the Memorial Day long weekend while we were way.
    - Also requested the wires be run for the surround sound speakers in the 1st floor
Will pulled all this off when we were out of town. Will advised us that hardwood flooring for the steps to the basement should be done when the basement was near complete so that there was no impact to the flooring. The hardwood flooring material was bought and placed in the house to acclimatize. The existing hardwood floor in the entry foyer was covered so that there was no impact to it. The crew worked on the flooring when we were away.
    - When we returned from our trip the 1st floor was just amazing.
    - Will also got in a cleaning crew to clean the 1st floor after the installation.
As the basement work was winding down the hardwood steps to the basement and flooring for basement landing areas was completed.
Overall we are very happy with the hardwood flooring. Its has totally changed the look and feel of the house.
The overall hardwood flooring cost was approx $10000.
    (3) We Remodel Staff
Will's staff is absolutely excellent and a professional group. Each one of his team members are polite and dedicated. His project manager Eric is superb. Will himself is very knowledgeable, an excellent manager and coordinates his teams brilliantly. This is the team that you want working for you.
With "We Remodel" and Will's leadership "WE" are all in good hands!!

If you are savvy enough to be reading these reviews prior to purchasing
at Dinettes and Stools, I congratulate you.  I only wish we had been.
Stay FAR, FAR away from this store!!!  Our experience:  We walked into
this very large store on 12/31/ 2012, were greeted with a  lot of
inventory and a pretty knowledgeable sales person (Alan).  We picked out
a very nice bar stool and placed an order with a  $750 deposit (50%,
thankfully by credit card!). We were told they would arrive in 6-8
weeks, perhaps a bit longer.  since we were ordering a special material
for the seat.  Knowing this could add some additional time, I was
honestly expecting about a 10 week delivery.  At week 10 we had not
heard a word, so I called and inquired.  Andrew, the owner, stated he
would call the manufacturer to check on the status.  A few days later I
had not heard back from Andrew, so I called again.  Andrew told me he
was still waiting to hear from them...I asked if he could please call
me, so I would know he was following up.  No call.  I waited another
week, and called again.  I was told by Andrew that the mfr. told him it
would be "about" another week.  No excuse for why he hadn't called me
back, no apology, just a complete lack of anything resembling good
customer service. Although by this point I was pretty appalled at his
apathy,  I just wanted the stools, and so I just let it go.  Another
week goes by (week 12) husband and I stop in to the store to see
him. His complete disinterest was now VERY apparent.  He simply stated
he would call the manufacturer again....we waited two days, heard
nothing from him, and at this point  my husband stopped in (again) to
the store to ask for a refund, telling him that if/when the stools came,
we would be happy to inspect them and pay the full amount.  Andrew got
extremely agitated, assured my husband there would be NO refund, and
told him to leave before he called the police!!  My husband left camly,
and called the manufacturer the very next morning.  Turns out after
waiting over 14 weeks for our stools, the manufacturer (a reputable
company that has been in business since 1964), explains to us that the
order was never placed!  So, essentially I floated Dinettes and Stools a
$750 loan for over (3) months at 0% interest.  Shocking!!!   It was out
    and out FRAUD.
I finally went back in to the store today,
confronted them with what I knew, and they just gave me our refund.
Unfortunately, I had not read the numerous online reviews (Yelp, Google,
etc) prior to placing our order, but they basically tell of the same
pathetic experience by multiple customers.  Andrew is rude to his
customers, has no interest in providing customer service, and now, quite
frankly, I find out he deals in FRAUD.  He also has (13) complaints
filed against him with the Better Business Bureau, and his rating  with
them is an "F".  I too have filed a complaint with the BBB.   I simply
cannot understand how the doors to this store can still be open after
all I have heard.  I intend to tell anyone--and everyone-- I know NEVER
to step foot into this establishment.  Luckily my deposit was made on a
credit card, because I am quite certain that if I had written a personal
check, I would never have gotten my money back, and I would now be
filing a claim in small claims court instead of writing this review.

    Closet Factory
This was a great experience! I got estimates from two other companies, but I knew that Michelle Langely would do a great job for me the moment I met her. She is very enthusiastic and loves design. She listened to my needs and suggested some things that I had not considered. She came prepared with tons of sample materials and got back to me with professionally renedered drawings and estimates very quickly. My experience with her differed greatly from my consultations with the other two companies. KITCHEN BOOTH: The end result was even better than I imagined. My kitchen "booth" is gorgeous, has added much need storage and I can now seat 7-8 people in a space where I though I could only fit a table for four. It has a cozy feel and is now one my favorite places to relax and read (oh yeah, and eat!). I feel that should I ever sell, this would be a great differentiator between my kitchen and others in the neighborhood.
OFFICE: We added custom overhead cabinetry above my desk. Most of the cabinets are closed to eliminate any visual clutter, but we extended 2 open, narrow shelves down the left and right sides to showcase any knickknacks/plants and to allow me to access the few items that I use frequently. Michelle designed a 2nd desk for me that closely matches the appearance of my original desk. So now instead feeling like a tiny office crammed tight with my all of my "stuff," I now have two sleek, clutter-free workstations and moving all of the storage overhead makes the office seem roomy . I love working in this space now and I'm proud to show it to others.

    Anthony's Piano Services
I have a track record with them, they have been servicing my piano for a long time because I originally purchased the piano from  the company he works for. They provided him as a tuner and he is professional, courteous, does the job right, prompt and all of that. I think he charges a very fair price, is always on time and I use him all the time.

    The Home Depot
It's a convenience kind of store where you can buy little things here and there but the two most important things that we bought were the dryer and washer. The salesman was really good, he went through everything to explain to us which model was good and which model I should go with. He delivered the items which seemed to be good on hand too. The appliances having been working well, I have no complaints at all.
