    Sturdevant Construction
If you have ever worked on a hope project with a contractor--you can agree that building is less than perfect. And it is--but its the nature of the beast and you have to meet with with a realistic outlook along with understanding. The Isle of Wight inspectors were difficult to work with and they definitely delayed things. But Sturdevant was excellent at reviewing plans and trying to find and overcome delays before they actually slowed things up. The design process was top notch. They have excellent design ideas. And the process of building went well too. We are excited and love the final product. They did a terrific job.

    Pressure Clean Plus
I used them because of other reviews on Angie's list.  They were able to come out within a week and take care of my house.  The siding, gutters, and deck looked great after they were done. They use a spray on cleaner on the siding and brick instead of pressure washing.  The only thing I would recommend is covering any scrubs or bushes that are next to the house.  The cleaner killed some of the grass around the base of the house, but it was very minimal.  We were very pleased with the finished worked.

    Rorrer Construction
Provider was extremely nice and punctual. Rorrer's advice mirrored that of a different contractor who was doing some other work for me, but noticed the back porch. They both stated exactly the same issues and fixes

    Colony Roofing
I had an appointment with them for 9:30 this morning, which they missed. I did not receive a call from them until 1:17 this afternoon, when the receptionist explained that they never received any calls or messages. I had left a number of messages that were never returned. Their phone system is completely inept and I only received excuses from the receptionist. My first call was Sunday, when I left a message to inform them that my contact number had changed, assuming they would receive the message Monday morning when they arrived to the office. I called again before 9:00 this morning and left another message. I the made more calls at around 9:15, 9:30, and 9:45 when the appointment was missed and none of these calls were answered nor returned. Their phone system does not allow the caller to confirm their message sent, you just have to assume they received it.

When Tina, the receptionist, called this afternoon she claimed that Herb couldn't find my address with his GPS despite every other contractor I contacted being able to find it just fine. Apparently, Herb doesn't return to the office after he has left for the day and it seems that Tina doesn't forward messages to his cell phone. They need to get a better phone system as I am not the only Angie's List member who has reported on these communication issues.

    Outback Construction
Because we knew this would be expensive, we wanted it done exactly right so we wouldn't omit something that we would later regret not having.  Craig (co-owner and salesman) quickly grasped what we generally wanted and offered suggestions as to what could be done to add both functionality and beauty as well as alternatives that could keep the cost down.  He also offered us decking from several companies. (We went with Fiberon instead of Trex which is the product most people are familiar with.)  He was able to walk us through the planning, explaining things like building code requirements.  He took care of getting the required permits, including a wetlands related zoning approval that we needed due to a nearby tidal creek.  The work started as scheduled and noticeable progress was made each day. The team was professional and respectful.  They were punctual, worked hard all day and never left a mess.  Craig kept us informed of progress, especially when weather caused delays.  The deck turned out beautifully, even better than we had imagined. Best overall experience I have had with a contractor.  We have already recommended them to friends and will definitely do so again.

    Archadeck of Virginia Beach/Norfolk
After some research, we called and left messages with 3 or 4 contractors. Only two initially responded, and only Archadeck followed thru with a quote. The others were very unresponsive and didn't do what they said they would, like send us pictures of previous work or links to suggested materials. Jim visited us 3 times thru the quote process.
We experienced some minor delays due to permits and weather, but Archadeck was good about letting us know and explaining. One delay was due to Jim not knowing the county permit office requires two weeks to issue a permit. The screen room crew was extremely good. They worked very well together as a Team. Even the building inspectors were very impressed with the quality of their work. The room was extremely well designed and built. We are very pleased.
The Patio was subcontracted thru Archadeck. The sub visited and surveyed the site before Archadeck quoted it to us. Patio crew showed up when they said they would. We wanted stone steps that it turned out the materials the patio contractor had delivered would not work for the steps. Instead, the SOW was modified and the sitting and flower bed walls were built instead with changing the cost of the landscaping contract. We did have to spend extra on the wood built steps, but in the end, we made out well and are very pleased.
The overall experience was very good. Our vision was brought to life even better then we imagined it. I would definity recommend them to anyone.  :-)
