    The Crawlspace Company
    Having The Crawlspace Company encapsulate my crawlspace was a great experience from start to finish. Brad promptly came out to examine my crawlspace when I contacted him, and he thoroughly explained all of my options, from doing nothing to full encapsulation. His price was less than half what I was quoted from another local encapsulation company, and he worked with me on the specific options I wanted. The installation began within a couple of weeks of when I signed the contract, and it was completed in a week. The crew that did the installation did a great job, and they were courteous and clean. 
    Since having the crawlspace encapsulated I no longer have fungus growing on the underside of my floor, my heating and cooling bills have dropped significantly (my supply ductwork is in the crawlspace), and my tile floors aren't cold to touch in the winter. As part of the installation I was provided with a remote temperature and humidity display, and the crawlspace is now always in the mid to low 60's temperature wise, and around 40% humidity. I could set the dehumidifier to a lower humidity level, but it would run more and I don't think there would be any added value to having the humidity significantly lower.
    I've done a number of energy savings projects on my house, and this has probably been the best. I would absolutely recommend The Crawlspace Company for this type of work.

    We had spoken to Jason from bedrock on the phone.  We scheduled an appointment for him to come out and give us some estimates and inspect some cracks we have in the walls.  He called an hour after our scheduled appointment time to cancel due to the cold temperatures that day.  We then rescheduled for the next Friday for him to come out, he never called or showed up that day.  We will not be contacting Bedrock again.  If they can not show up or have the common curtesy to call before a scheduled appointment I definitely do not want them doing any work to my home.No

    An actual licensed engineer did the inspection and worked up the specs for repairs. He inspected the entire crawl space, not just the areas for the problems that we had called about.  He was very good at explaining in terms we could understand what the problems were caused by and what work was needed to correct.  He provided us a firm quote rather than an estimate for the work.  Considering how expensive foundation work can be, it was comforting to know that the cost wouldn't unexpectedly rise.
    Work crews were punctual, polite and professional.  We have a composite wood deck which was installed just a year earlier and some of it had to be removed in order to install the push piers under the back wall.  I was very concerned that this would be damaged and I let them know about this during the initial inspection.  The crew supervisor took additional time before starting to carefully plan how this should be done. The short story is that they removed what was necessary, installed the push piers, and re-installed the decking with absolutely no damage.  We also had them make a new crawl space access door.  The supervisor built one on the second day but was not satisfied due to some minor flaws and build another prior to leaving after all other work was completed.  They also did an excellent job of cleaning up afterwards,
    Although I have some engineering training and knowledge, I don't know enough about foundations to judge the quality of the work. However, based on the explanations they gave me (which all made sense) and the systems they used to correct the problems, I am rather confident that their work was done to a high standard.  I gave them a B (Good) for Price because it is hard to say that such an expensive repair is an Excellent price.  However, I do feel I got my money's worth.

    Service was done in a polite and professional manner.  The job was also done thoroughly and to my satisfaction.  The only problem was follow-through with scheduling a full inspection, which was not done. When I called I was assured an inspection would be scheduled, but the scheduler forgot.

    They pursued the whole thing very aggressively. They came out to the house and looked at everything. They have some ideas for the project. I have no problem with them and as far as the quality work, it's really good also. There was just a wait before they got started on the whole project. That was my big hangup. There was some kind of a delay.

    Very well.  Jason inspected the house and had a very good grasp of the foundation problems I have been experiencing.  We had a little communications hiccup one day that caused some temporary distress, but overall, Jason kept me informed as the project progressed. 
    They had to remove a lot of old growth landscaping from around my foundation, but they filled in the holes and raked the area clean.  My house is now level and the floors that Jason addressed are rock solid.  Unfortunately, I found other areas of the house that needed attention due to live floors.  I have contracted with Bedrock to fix those too. 
    Bedrock pulled all permits for the town and county (Smithfield requires both).  This ended up taking several days, but Jason stayed on them and successfully got the job done.  Overall, I am very pleased.

    JES Foundation Repair
    The inspector was pleasant and knowledgeable.  Initial inspection was
    professional and courteous.  The installers were on-time and handled the
    job very well.  I always knew what was happening and when.
     The trouble came in after the job was completed.  I had told JES that I
    was going to be out of town when the masons came to complete the job
    and that I would not pay JES until I could inspect the finished work. 
    That would be about 5 days after their predicted completion date.  If
    they we not OK with that, let's reschedule when I could be at the site
    when they finish so I could reject or pay immediately.  The sales tech
    and the scheduler agreed to these terms and it was noted in writing in
    the contract.
    When they finished the job I got rather testy phone calls every day
    demanding payment.  Each time I explained the situation and told them to
    stop calling until I get home and inspect the completed work.  This had
    no effect on their behavior.  The phone calls continued.  I got home
    when promised.  Inspected the work and sent them a check immediately. 
    They continued to hound me until they cashed the check.  How a company
    that does a decent job up front can 1) not pay attention to the contract
    with regard to payment, 2) not honor my requests to stop the harassing
    calls, 3) leave the job and blow any customer good will due to
    administrative ugliness; is totally beyond my comprehension.
