    Southwest Sunroom & Window Co.
... After studying their High Quality work on a friend's 2nd Story Sunroom and Dining Room... My Bride and I decided that we wanted this little company in Salem to build our Dream Room. Steve ( Southwest Sunroom Sales Manager ) was right on track; He reassured us that the Southwest Team could handle any contingency. And they did with Incredible Results ! Personable and friendly communication, and coordination, removed all the stress that comes with any challenging project - they actually made it fun. These are professional contractors and builders and a service team that deliver to Happy Customers. Some events: Pergula takedown, Deck removed, Fish pond moved and filled in, Electrical power updated to code, and power lead moved to other side of home... Then the really impressive Construction started on our 14x18-foot new "LIVING ROOM" There were No Inspection Issues, WOW. And believe me, the inspectors were here during All stages of the project (s), You get your money's worth plus = Southwest always builds safe, above, and beyond the code. i.e. you can literally drive a tank up on the subfloor and foundation. It Is BUILT ! I retired from the U.S Marines and have spent the last 26 years in Service and Installation work locally, and have been to "some" job sites and teamed up with lots of service people. What has impressed me most about the Southwest folks was how motivated and skilled the two guys that did most of the construction were... Troy and Key really excel in my book, and they obviously love the kind of challenging work they do. Come sun or rain , they were here early and motivated and ready with a plan to get 'er done. Communication and Status updates are very good top-down = Service Manager and VP (Kevin) Kept all of us in the loop informed... Even after the initial startup and walk around... to make sure each Builder, Contractor, and Customer is Happy and on the same sheet of music. Noteworthy: When the guys who are actually building your sunroom care enough to call and remind you "that if anything should go wrong this weekend [ because of an approaching tropical storm ] please just call us, we will be home all weekend." That is when you know Southwest has attracted some really Great Employees ! By the way, the new roof and guttering held back and dispersed an incredible amount of rain. The cleanup was always immaculate every day and at Completion = You almost can't tell they were even here and the Mud had been very high... Well, I lied just a little; There is this incredibly fine building attached to our little home. It is really more of a cathedral than a Sunroom ! This experience, and this addition, has been BY FAR ONE OF THE BEST THINGS WE HAVE EVER DONE. Pat and Theresa L 2018 Salem Virginia [ smile ]

    Dollman Construction, Inc
The crew that was onsite during the renovation was great as well. They always kept the site clean and was respectful when asked questions about the process. They were also very knowledgeable about construction and codes to make the house very sound. The house is around eighty years old and with the work they have done I can see it being around another eighty or more. The office staff was always willing to help with any questions or concerns we had and would promptly respond if they could not answer right then. Working with Dollman Construction was one of the best choices we made. People do not even recognize the house now that it is complete they did such a great job.

    Affordable Labor & Contracting
Travis and sidekick Jay were a Godsend! They accomplished all of this and more in 2 days, while carrying on good-natured bantering the whole time. I asked a lot of them, but heard no complaints as they cheerfully got it done, during extremely hot, humid weather. These guys are amazing, and can do anything!

    Pierce Siding & Window Co
It went very well. The bulk of the work was done by Robbie Pierce's two-man crew of Randy, with over 30 years of experience, and Austin, Robbie's son, assisting. Randy's professionalism and experience showed in the care he took in his work to get things done just right. We're pleased with the windows themselves (Wincore) which are very easy to clean on both sides without the need to go outside or use a ladder. They have screens included on the bottom half. The cost of the windows and labor was very fair. We got a break because we had 17 windows to do. We paid separately for the doors (Pella sliding patio doors with blinds inside). The installation of those didn't go as smoothly since the old doors were of a non-standard size. However, they solved the problem. They were responsive, punctual, and cleaned up all work areas well. Their presence didn't interfere with our daily activities. We would highly recommend this family-owned and operated (now three generations) business to anyone needing their services.

    Empire Siding & Windows
Graeme (owner of Empire Siding & Windows) was very prompt about ordering replacement windows at no cost to me. They came in quickly (less than 2 weeks) and Graeme came himself to change out the old windows with the new. He was very courteous and installed the new windows quickly, removing & hauling off the old windows, He even cleaned the windows for me.I was very happy with the no hassle, replacement guarantee. This did not cost me anything. Julie R.

    Mitchells Building Co
Corey was very friendly and professional.  This job was a unique situation in that we just had 1 window to install that we provided, but he took it seriously, even providing me with a portfolio of references without my asking.  The installation went well, and Corey came back to check the work.  I really appreciated his "people skills," and that he took the time to talk with my 3 year-old daughter as well as explain the nuances in the contract.  I definitely recommend this company!

    Pierce Siding & Window Co
Robbie and his crew were excellent to work with, performed quality work, and cleaned up every day.  After having some not so great experience with contractors before, it was a really good experience to work with Robbie.  He did not ask for any money upfront and we paid him as the work was completed.  He was very honest and reliable throughout the project.  They fixed all of the minor things that we brought to their attention before leaving the project.
We are very pleased with the Wincore windows that they installed at a very reasonable price.  They ran into a significant amount of rotten wood on the back of our house and did a great job of replacing the wood.  The vinyl siding looks great and again was installed at a very reasonable price.
Randy who headed up the installation on Robbie's crew was so easy to work with and a perfectionist in his work.  We highly recommend Pierce Siding and Windows.

    Rusco Window Company Inc
In October of 2014 we contracted with Rusco to install a free standing carport.  They said they would start the installation in 6 to 8 weeks and we gave them a $500 deposit.  They constantly re-scheduled the installation without really explaining why and not even informing us about the re-scheduling most of the time.  I would call up to see if they were coming out on the day they previously scheduled and they would just tell me it had been re-scheduled to another date in the future.  They originally told me they would install my carport a week or two before Thanksgiving and then it was rescheduled to the week after Thanksgiving and that someone would call early in that week to let me know which day.  By Thursday of that week no one had called so I called them and was told it would now be December 15.  On Dec 11 they called and said it would now be Dec 17.  On Dec 16 I called to see if they would be out the next day, Dec 17, as they said and was told it would now be January 6.  When I asked why they told me they had not received the material and it would be at least another week before they received it.  I told them then to just cancel my order but instead they came back and asked if I would re-consider if they came out on Dec 19 and 20 to dig the footers and set the posts and then return on Dec 29 to finish.  I told them my wife and I would discuss it and I would contact them in the morning with our decision.  We were very skeptical at this point and decided not to go ahead with this.  I called them the next morning Dec 17 and told them we just want to cancel the order and get our deposit back.  They then told me they had the material after all which told me they had lied to me before about not having it.  I told them I still wanted the order cancelled.  They came back and said that if I would agree, they would come out that Friday and Saturday, the 19 and 20 to start and they would be back on the 22 to work until they completed the installation and I reluctantly agreed.  That Friday, just two days later, they called and said they wouldn't be out that day after all but someone would show up on Saturday, the 20.  That Saturday, no one showed up and no one called.  I called their office and my sales person's cell phone that day but of course no one could be reached.  I left a message with them that we were done with them and not to send anyone out to our house and that we wanted our deposit back.  I never received any calls back from them but a couple of guys showed up on Monday Dec 22 and I told them that I had cancelled the order.  That day I sent a formal letter to Rusco cancelling the order and requesting the return of our deposit.  I never received a reply to my letter so on Jan 10 I sent a follow up letter.  I sent both letters via Certified mail so I know they were both received.  On Jan 19 I received a letter from Thermo Twin, the parent company of Rusco, stating this was their final notice to me to schedule the installation or they would proceed with legal action against me.  I had never received any prior notices from Thermal Twin.  On Jan 24 I sent a letter to Thermo Twin in response to their letter stating that I had tried to work with Rusco on numerous occasions and they failed to live up to any of the promises they made and that as far as I was concerned Rusco violated the contract and I would like the return of my $500 deposit.  I still have not had any replies to my letter, I have not received a refund for my $500 deposit and no one from either company has ever contacted me to explain why there were so many delays or even apologize for them.  Anyone considering doing business with either company should be be very wary of their promises and consider seeking legal advice before signing any agreements with them.

    SERENITY REPLACEMENT WINDOWS
Very professional, precise, cleaned up behind themselves well. Owner came by after they were done to inspect, I had noticed a small issue with one window, it was fixed right away. They were not totally the cheapest, but I'd rather pay more than get a sloppy job by someone who just needed to get done and gone as quick as possible.
