I can't believe how beautiful my home is now! The flooring was expertly laid which required new subflooring and extensive leveling in spots due to settling. There are new brilliant white baseboards and quarter rounds everywhere which really set off the dark oak hand scraped look flooring. My kitchen is gorgeous. We kept the old cabinets but updated the look with new hardware. The backsplash edges are finished with brushed nickel metal...so clean! Jeff tucked all the outlets and switches up underneath the cabinets. The rewiring required to do this was not simple! The grey granite composite sink matches the backsplash grouting and the veining in my quartz countertops. My itty bitty half bath looks fabulous with its lightly textured Sea Salt walls above a brilliant white wainscoting. A new light fixture and white wicker mirror finish the clean airy look. This was a huge project...and it didn't help that I kept adding to it, but Jeff patiently and expertly handled all my requests. He is a joy to work.

My laundry room was a nightmare of badly arranged appliances, curling linoleum and patched drywall from the installation of a whole house on demand water heater. Jeff took the room down to the studs, rewired and replumbed as needed for the new arrangement. To make room for the plumbing he had to create a new wall an inch and a half inside the old one. He layed some lovely travertine tile, patched and painted the walls and ceiling and enclosed the big ugly water heating unit in a lovely cabinet with louvred door. He also put up a laundry room shelving and hanging rack unit that I purchased from Wayfair. It's beautiful!!

Mighty Dad Flooring & Home Repair
It is difficult to find the adequate words to describe my experience with Mighty Dad. Sp very beyond wonderful. A superhero that swooped in and absolutely Saved the Day. My previous contractor had lied and deceived and taken full advantage of my naivety (and ultimately absconded with close to $20,000.00), leaving me with an unfinished shell. After taking a few months to lick my wounds and find funds to finish the project, Jeff Phillips gave me a very reasonable quote to complete the addition. Once he began the work, there were many (many, many) problems with the structure that had been constructed to not meet state and city codes. Jeff worked with me on these and put things right. His installation of the insulation, drywall and all finishing touches was superb hes a real craftsman. And all along the way he would explain what was needed, offer solutions and get my input before moving forward. He also had some great ideas for the interior design aspects for tile, flooring and trim work concerns. His work is meticulous and he ensures that everything is done completely right. He never cuts corners. I am so pleased with the results!! It was a long road getting here, but I am now one happy homeowner. You cant go wrong if you decided to go with Mighty Dad. Someone should sew a big MD on his shirtfront! Im very lucky that he landed in my life.

    Dollman Construction, Inc
The crew that was onsite during the renovation was great as well. They always kept the site clean and was respectful when asked questions about the process. They were also very knowledgeable about construction and codes to make the house very sound. The house is around eighty years old and with the work they have done I can see it being around another eighty or more. The office staff was always willing to help with any questions or concerns we had and would promptly respond if they could not answer right then. Working with Dollman Construction was one of the best choices we made. People do not even recognize the house now that it is complete they did such a great job.

Jeff and his assistant worked exclusively on our project until its completion. The quality of the tile work is exquisite...all edges are covered in brushed nickel rondec which gives it a luxurious feel. They started with studs and water logged floor joists and created a fabulous spa solving numerous problems along the way. I was consulted on every detail which I really appreciated. I can't believe how beautiful it is! The pictures do not do it justice. Jeff at Mighty Dad Flooring and Home Repair has got to on your list when you get bids. If you have to wait (he is busy) it will be worth the wait!

Mighty Dad Flooring & Home Repair
Bottom line, we're very happy with the outcome and more than willing to re-hire Mighty Dad for future work. We started working with Mighty Dad in September of 2016 and wrapped up the last of it in March of 2017. This timeline may seem long, but consider the list of work done and the fact that it went over the Thanksgiving and Christmas/New Year holiday seasons. We also added significantly to the scope of the project mid-stream after deciding to completely remodel the bathroom instead of just do minimal flooring repair. Through all of the changes, Jeff was flexible and willing to work with us at every turn in order to provide a good result. We did encounter some delays, but all typical of such a large project and none that I would blame on Mighty Dad. For example: - We took a while to identify the border tile that we wanted for a replacement - We had to wait on the drain system provider's schedule for a few weeks to come back and finish an additional section of drain - We had to wait for certain floor/tile/grout materials to become available from the manufacturer - We went out of state for two weeks in the middle of the process Jeff remained professional and willing to work around our scheduling requirements. He even helped with some unrelated items around the home that popped up during the project (soffit replacement, texture repair in a different room). I've already come back to him since the end of this project for a quote doing additional work.

Once the project was started we ran into some outdated electrical issues. Jeff and his partner were able to fix the unexpected issues at a fair price. We also had a lot of issues with our concrete slab being uneven. Jeff was able to fix this so that he could put in the laminate flooring evenly. We were very pleased with the end results.

Mike did an excellent job from start to finish.  I was searching for contractors and was having trouble just finding someone to return my calls.  Mike answered on the first time I called and was able to schedule an appointment for an estimate right there on the phone.   He showed up on time for the estimate and got back to me within a reasonable amount of time.  The details of the job were laid out in a signed contract.   I had left out a part of the job that required placing Z-channel in the ceiling and he was good about adding that on to the original contract at a reasonable cost.  There was additional blocking and plumbing that needed to be done prior to the start of the job and that was done promptly.   I appreciated that he took the time to add the blocking that needed to be done and to get the job done right.  His drywall team was excellent and the finished walls look great.  Showed up on time each day and worked the entire day.  The job was completed within the time frame that he initially quoted.   Probably this was one of the best experiences with a contractor that I've had and I would highly recommend him.

There were a lot of hurdles due to the original builders. Mike and lou moved all of the plumbing. That involved moving the pressure tank and water heater. They had to cut up the concrete floor to move drains for tub, shower, toilet and vanity. They had to reframe the entire area 1500sf., then rewired all new circuits. They insulated the walls and installed moisture and vapor barrier. Then installed drywall with trayed ceilings with rope lights concealed behind crown molding. They installed an engineered bamboo flooring. The bathroom is beautiful. My shower stall has pebble tiled floor with custom porcelain tile walls, with an accent strip of stones. They put in two shower niches with three shower heads and two shower valves. with all brushed nickel hardware. they installed a frameless frosted glass shower door. They did excellent work as always. this is my fourth major project by Mike, and I will use them to build my next project which will be a garage!

    Dollman Construction, Inc
This is an update to the review below--I just wanted to add that Dolman Construction continues to stand by their work even after the check is long cashed.  Since I wrote this review and the work was completed, we discovered a few problems.  Nothing major, but there were a few things that we felt need to be corrected.  Jimmy was very responsive to our requests.  If he got tired of hearing from us, you couldn't tell it by his demeanor.  All issues were addressed and taken care of to our satisfaction with out argument or friction.  I was very impressed by that, and when we get ready to do further work on this house, we will absolutely be calling Dollman Construction to do the work.

    **********************************************

We bought a house in October that needed a substantial amount of work done before we could move it.  I found Dollman construction on Angie's List and contacted Jimmy Dollman based on the reviews I read here.  Jimmy Dollman met with us at the house a few days later.  We described what we wanted to do, and he carefully explained that would cost far more than we had imagined.  A lot more.
He then patiently listened to our extensive wish list, made a lot of measurements, and talked with us about various possibilities.  Instead of expanding the current kitchen (which was on a back porch that had been enclosed and was quite small, awkward, and out of date) outside of the "footprint" of the house, which costs a lot more, he suggested we put the kitchen in an adjoining room, and open the wall between the two rooms.  This gave us the possibility of a larger kitchen, a walk-in pantry, a place for a small kitchen table, and a good sized play area for our son.  Brilliant!  We loved this idea in theory and the result has been even better than I imagined.
We knew that the whole roof on the house needed to be replaced.  The older part of the house had ancient metal shingles that had mostly lost their paint.  The garage was attached to the house and had what I think of as a "shed" roof--no peak, just a flat roof that sloped away from the house.  These two features combined made the house look like, well, kind of like a shack.  Neither roof was very sound, either, because they both started leaking soon after we closed (of course).  Dollman construction replaced the whole roof with shingles, fixed all the rotten wood they found, and replaced all the gutters.  They also completely rebuilt the roof over the garage, so it has a peak and ties in to the roof of main part of the house.  It's amazing how much better the house looks with the new shingles and roof line.  I know they did a good job on the roof, the gutters, and fixed all the leaks, because after the last heavy
snow, the water was gushing out of the downspouts like a waterfall, but everything inside was dry.
Jimmy also created a very beautiful design for the kitchen.  However, with the kitchen, the project was way outside what we felt we could spend.  So, Jimmy came up with a way to put off the purchase of new, custom cabinets and counter tops by installing used cabinets and counters.  This really saved us, because it brought the cost of the whole project into a range we could deal with, but still gave me a very functional kitchen (and a new roof) until we can sell the old house.  Better yet, all the electrical and plumbing is in the right place for the original design.  Frankly, I'm amazed at what Jimmy's crew was able to do with the used cabinets and counter tops.  It's actually very darned close to the layout in the design.  I'm really looking forward to seeing what they can do with the new cabinets and counter tops, but I'm very happy with the intermediate results.
What I appreciate most about Jimmy is his willingness to work with us and our budget.  We had a long list of things we needed and wanted to do.  He worked with us extensively to break the work into several phases, and price those phases, so we could decided what was most important and what we could wait on.  This was very important to us, and really proved we were working with the right person.  I know this was probably a lot of extra work for him, but he did it with patience and good will.  He explained what work needed to be done, how the work would go, and what we could expect, very carefully (sometimes more than once), until we felt we understood well enough to make the right choices.
We wanted to do some of the work ourselves, to save money (paint and some trim).  When we discussed that with Jimmy, he was receptive to it, helped us get some of the materials, and kept us informed about the time frame for getting our part of the work
    done.
Dollman Construction started working on our house right after Christmas 2013.  They are just about done now, in the later part of April 2014.  Considering the amount of work to be done, and the truly rotten weather we've had this winter, I think they've worked very quickly.
All of the Dollman people that have come to work on the house have done an excellent job, cleaned up well, been careful with our property, and been generally pleasant to meet.  The plasterers (subcontractors) did leave a bit of a mess behind.  I saw it one evening, but didn't have a chance to do anything about it.  I went over a couple of days later, and Jimmy's crew had cleaned everything up.  They shoveled snow, too, when we couldn't get out to do it.  On the few occasions there have been problems (and it seems there just will be with a project this big), they have been addressed quickly and completely.
Jimmy is very responsive to his clients, returning phone calls, emails, and calling to update us on the project and what's coming next.  One evening, we thought we smelled gas at the house.  It was a faint, and we opened a window, planning to go back the next day and see if we could still smell it.  I emailed Jimmy to let him know, and Jimmy went over to the house at 9 p.m. on a Sunday evening to check it out.  Everything was okay, and I really appreciated his concern and dedication.
We were very anxious about the renovation process and spending what is quite a lot of money for us.  We probably drove Jimmy more than a little crazy because of that, but he was always polite, professional, and personable with us.  We quickly came to trust him and the people that work with him.  We are looking forward to working with him again, once we've sold the old house, and are ready to finish the kitchen in the new one.
I'd love to have Dollman Construction remodel our bathrooms somewhere down the road.  They will be my first choice every time.
