Driveway Pavers reviews in Salem

Contractor came out and recommended a course of action to repair older driveway problems. Estimate signed and within the agreed time contractor arrived and did the work and was paid promptly. Within a month the surface started to deteriorate and break up in places where the coating was very thin. I took pictures and e-mailed to the contractor. A representative came out to see the job and agreed that there were problems ( this was in January 2018), and said they would make it good as soon a the weather warmed up in the spring. They never called or came back in April or May even after I contacted them to see when they were coming. Finally in June 2018 when I say other Paving contractors doing roads and driveways I called again to find out the company had changed names and the owner was focused on commercial paving and was out of town alot. I was promised I would get a call from another company representative to come out and see the driveway which was getting worse but no one has called me. As of June 27, 2018 I sent an e-mail to the contractor that I wanted my money back so I could get someone else to fix the problem. Still no response of any kind.

We are extremely pleased with our new driveway. The cost was shocking at first, but considering the high standard of work with fleet of heavy equipment and crew we think it was a fair price for what we got. That said, the final answer for how the new drive, ditch, and drain box function after heavy rain and snow will have to wait until winter.   The old gravel drive had many water drainage problems as well as loss of gravel. It needed regular maintenance (grading, replacing gravel (and later asphalt millings) that washed away or were pushed away by snow plowing.
We knew this company would be the right one to handle our situation. When first walking the drive with us, Charles quickly identified what would be needed to address our drainage problems also pointing out where previous "experts" had led us astray. We were impressed with the fact that they regularly do large commercial job such as the huge GE parking lot in Salem and other contract work for VDOT.
The original estimate was $800. higher than our final cost due to not needing two culverts. When Charles was first out to make the estimate he suggested adding the circular turn-a-round through a wooded area. It was something we hadn't thought of, but are glad we did even though it added to the final cost. Tree trimming and cutting long the whole drive was necessary as well (they did it and that was included in the total cost).
They came back several weeks later to correct a very small standing water problem where the asphalt ties into the cement of the garage. It was not their fault. The problem was due to the sag in our existing garage floor (faulty original garage construction). There was no extra charge for them to add more asphalt to redirect the runoff. Charles said, "We want you to be completely happy."
After dropping off a package the UPS delivery man said, "This is a UPS driver's dream!"
We highly recommend C. J. Asphalt Paving.

First of all, I contacted the contractor too late in the season to get the driveway installed immediately. I had to wait until spring to get the work done because the asphalt requires warm weather.
The contractor did a great job, better even than I had hoped for. He brought enough equipment to my house to pave a highway. Nice equipment in good condition.
This company is not a fly-by-night operation which was my first impression when I called and got voicemail. They could use some help with marketing but their emphasis is on their work which I can't argue with. I did ding them a bit for responsiveness because they don't have a sales person you can contact on the phone. Be persistent, leave a message and the owner will call back himself.
I'm very happy with my new, two-lane driveway. Come by and check it out.

They arrived a little late but did great work. The removed the old poor driveway quickly and were done with everything in about 6 hours. They even had to wait a little long for the asphalt to be ready and arrive. Great work overall.

Excellent project. Toni was relentless in making sure that the base and grading was done properly. Result was as close to perfect as I have seen. Hard rain that used to find its way into one of my garage doors now flows away from the house and also flows away from the RV pad. Yet the slopes are subtle enough to be unseen.

We have a long, gravel driveway that was in great need of maintenance. It was bumpy and had lost a lot of gravel due to improper drainage. It was especially bad in the winter when water and snow melt would freeze into thick ice. We contacted a couple of contractors who never got back to us after repeated messages by us (one had even come out and given an estimate).  We saw a coupon for $110. off from "King's Hauling & Excavating" in our local newspaper. Own by the same folks who operate "Specialized Saw & Mower" where we've had some dealings in the past, we thought we would give them a try.
The owner, John King, came out to look over our situation. Originally, we assumed we would have the drive graded and re-graveled. However, Mr. King suggested asphalt millings as a superior and more economical alternative. He gave us an estimate and noted that he would write it up in a contract we could both go over and agree upon. Payment would be one half before beginning the work and the final half after the work was complete and we were satisfied the the results.
We investigated asphalt millings on the Internet and in technical and trade publications. We liked that asphalt millings is a recycled material. Also, with the high heat of summer, the gravel-like millings fuse together giving a very solid base that won't wash out. It sounded good, but we wanted to see what it would look like. Mr. King provided us with names and numbers of others to contact for references. We did go to see a couple of driveways. While we weren't particularly impressed with what we saw, we decided to go ahead since we would have to have something done.
We asked that they add an additional load of millings to extend the length of what we originally agreed to (this would be an additional cost). They didn't have to do as much trench digging, nor use as much ECR (erosion control rock) as was figured into the estimate (this would lower the original cost estimate). This was due to safety issues with buried utility lines. So, we ended up paying a bit less than the original agreement.
We've had some heavy rain and it looks like it is working as intended, diverting the water along side the drive rather than flowing on top of it as it had done perviously. However, we won't know the complete story until next winter. We are happy with the way it looks too. For now, we are very satisfied. We have recommended "King's Hauling & Excavating" to a friend who needs some similar work done.
The work was accomplished in a professional and timely manner.

After about a year I had to call them back because the driveway started cracking because there wasn't enough base put underneath of it. I had to call them back again a while later to have them go over it again and Tony, the owner, came out and they fixed it the last time. A great thing about this company is that Tony stands by his work and came back out to make sure it got fixed right the last time. I think Tony is the best and he impressed me with how he stood by his work to make sure it got taken care of the right way.
