    Sweeney, Dr. Nina K
The office itself is very attractive. The front office staff is professional and courteous but I certainly wouldn't call them "friendly." They encourage you to use the patient portal which is great for getting lab results and when I've tried to schedule appointments that way it has just caused major confusion.
At times I've gotten in quickly and then other times it has taken weeks to months to get an appointment. They will not schedule routines visits on Friday afternoons (sick visits only) which is very inconvenient for me as it's the only time I have off work during the week.
The office offers Botox and skin care products which some people may really like, but I personally find to be a bit of a put-off. They certainly don't push the products on you, but I don't think that injecting toxins is the best way to encourage wellness.
Because I don't feel that I "click" with Dr Sweeney and her office, I'm looking for a new primary care provider.

    Williams, Dr. Donald R.
I had a very good experience there. I'm a long time patient of Dr.Williams and he talks to his patients on non-medical terms and explains things well. He asks questions and doesn't rush. He also treats you on the spot.

As always . . . my experience was great!  You never feel rushed in Dr. Bell's office.  He is thorough in his explanations of what he believes is wrong with you and will prescribe medicines judiciously . . .explaining possible, if any side effects.  He will refer you to a specialist if the situation warrants further exploration. I was leaving on vacation the following week and with the medicine and his assurance, left with little lingering discomfort.  Within a week I was pain free.  I have never had a doctor spend as much time with me as Dr. Bell does.  I expecially appreciate that he tries to find out what is going on in your life that might be contributing to the situation rather than just treating the symptoms.  He is an outstanding doctor who deals with his patients with competence, empathy and concern.  I feel I have found a gem of a doctor who bucks the usual system that includes overbooking, keeps patients waiting often an hour or more in crowded reception rooms, and then further waiting in exam rooms only to find a rushed doctor in front of you.

This appointment went just like all the other times he has seen me, very, very good.

He is the best.  He, also, treats my husband and my best friend.  His patients are not rushed through appointments like items on a conveyer belt.  He listens to his patient's concerns and is understanding of our thoughts.   I hope I don't ever have to change my family doctor.

    Bell, Dr. Victor H.
After less than a 10 minute wait, (I was early for my appointment), Dr. Bell came to the waiting room to accompany me to the exam room. He asked many questions about my symptoms, discussed possible causes and requested some blood work and x-rays to be done at another facility. I never feel rushed or misunderstood when being seen by Dr. Bell. His is a physician's office, not a mini hospital, rehab or lab. He is not a big business. He has time for his patients. My husband and I have been under Dr. Bell's care for many years. Before visiting Dr. Bell, we did not have a regular family doctor. Other GPs made us feel like we were on a conveyer belt and we only used walk-in clinics. I have and will continue to recommend Dr. Bell to other folks. In a recent survey by our local newspaper he was voted the number one family doctor in Salem and his patients know he deserves that honor.

    Bell, Dr. Victor H.
Everything was great. He has a different kind of office. He doesn?t have nurses in his office. He just has a receptionist. It is his way of reducing cost and passing it on to his patients. He spends more time with his patients. He spends 30 minutes with his patients for any kind of visit. My visit was for a physical, and it lasted an hour. It was very thorough. He sat down and talked to me the entire time. He ordered all the lab work that I needed. I got them done at a clinic thereby. He sent me all the results within a week, with comments beside them as explanation. It took me about two weeks to get to see him. So, it was good. His office is very small and very nice. He comes to the waiting room to get his patients. His receptionist was great. I can e-mail him, and he will respond. I feel it is very nice. I will continue to see him in the future.

    Carilion Fort Defiance
Dr. Taylor has been good to visit, however the front end staff and billing/adminstration is enough for me to go somewhere else. It took 6 months to get an explanation of benefits, multiple phone calls to the carilion "billing" dept, carilion office, and to my insurance to get things straightened out. When I asked the carilion office to contact the carilion billing (makes sense to me) they told me they couldn't. When they didn't like what I was asking them to do, they would put me on hold or transfer me to someone else. For a routine prescription, they wouldn't give me a years worth of refills. When I contacted the office to ask why, the office assistant proceeded to tell me what the Dr. and I had discussed (which was wrong) and that the pharmacy had to request this. I did get more refills but will be looking for another Dr. before the next visit is due.

    Bell, Dr. Victor H.
Amazingly well! By the time I finished filling out the paperwork as a new patient, Dr. Bell was ready to see me and was the one that came and met me in the lobby. We went into an exam room, sat down and spent the next 45 minutes talking about my health history and current issues, followed by an exam. I spent more time with him than I had with the last 10 doctor visits combined. When he determined that I might need more care for some health issues, he first explained to me everything associated with what he thought it might be and why (got the medical book out). Then he explained to me why he was recommending a particular prescription. Then immediately made a reservation with a specialist after asking me if I wanted to see a specialist (I said yes) or continue to see him. It's just him and his secretary at his office. I've never had such a positive impression from a doctor's visit before.
