    Southwest Sunroom & Window Co.
... After studying their High Quality work on a friend's 2nd Story Sunroom and Dining Room... My Bride and I decided that we wanted this little company in Salem to build our Dream Room. Steve ( Southwest Sunroom Sales Manager ) was right on track; He reassured us that the Southwest Team could handle any contingency. And they did with Incredible Results ! Personable and friendly communication, and coordination, removed all the stress that comes with any challenging project - they actually made it fun. These are professional contractors and builders and a service team that deliver to Happy Customers. Some events: Pergula takedown, Deck removed, Fish pond moved and filled in, Electrical power updated to code, and power lead moved to other side of home... Then the really impressive Construction started on our 14x18-foot new "LIVING ROOM" There were No Inspection Issues, WOW. And believe me, the inspectors were here during All stages of the project (s), You get your money's worth plus = Southwest always builds safe, above, and beyond the code. i.e. you can literally drive a tank up on the subfloor and foundation. It Is BUILT ! I retired from the U.S Marines and have spent the last 26 years in Service and Installation work locally, and have been to "some" job sites and teamed up with lots of service people. What has impressed me most about the Southwest folks was how motivated and skilled the two guys that did most of the construction were... Troy and Key really excel in my book, and they obviously love the kind of challenging work they do. Come sun or rain , they were here early and motivated and ready with a plan to get 'er done. Communication and Status updates are very good top-down = Service Manager and VP (Kevin) Kept all of us in the loop informed... Even after the initial startup and walk around... to make sure each Builder, Contractor, and Customer is Happy and on the same sheet of music. Noteworthy: When the guys who are actually building your sunroom care enough to call and remind you "that if anything should go wrong this weekend [ because of an approaching tropical storm ] please just call us, we will be home all weekend." That is when you know Southwest has attracted some really Great Employees ! By the way, the new roof and guttering held back and dispersed an incredible amount of rain. The cleanup was always immaculate every day and at Completion = You almost can't tell they were even here and the Mud had been very high... Well, I lied just a little; There is this incredibly fine building attached to our little home. It is really more of a cathedral than a Sunroom ! This experience, and this addition, has been BY FAR ONE OF THE BEST THINGS WE HAVE EVER DONE. Pat and Theresa L 2018 Salem Virginia [ smile ]

    Dollman Construction, Inc
The crew that was onsite during the renovation was great as well. They always kept the site clean and was respectful when asked questions about the process. They were also very knowledgeable about construction and codes to make the house very sound. The house is around eighty years old and with the work they have done I can see it being around another eighty or more. The office staff was always willing to help with any questions or concerns we had and would promptly respond if they could not answer right then. Working with Dollman Construction was one of the best choices we made. People do not even recognize the house now that it is complete they did such a great job.

    SALEM PAINTING
Salem Painting came out to my home as promised and gathered dimensions and facts in order to go back to the office and then write an estimate. The estimate was to be sent to me but to date I have not been contacted. Several phone calls and messages and not yielded any positive results and it has been several weeks.

Mike did an excellent job from start to finish.  I was searching for contractors and was having trouble just finding someone to return my calls.  Mike answered on the first time I called and was able to schedule an appointment for an estimate right there on the phone.   He showed up on time for the estimate and got back to me within a reasonable amount of time.  The details of the job were laid out in a signed contract.   I had left out a part of the job that required placing Z-channel in the ceiling and he was good about adding that on to the original contract at a reasonable cost.  There was additional blocking and plumbing that needed to be done prior to the start of the job and that was done promptly.   I appreciated that he took the time to add the blocking that needed to be done and to get the job done right.  His drywall team was excellent and the finished walls look great.  Showed up on time each day and worked the entire day.  The job was completed within the time frame that he initially quoted.   Probably this was one of the best experiences with a contractor that I've had and I would highly recommend him.

There were a lot of hurdles due to the original builders. Mike and lou moved all of the plumbing. That involved moving the pressure tank and water heater. They had to cut up the concrete floor to move drains for tub, shower, toilet and vanity. They had to reframe the entire area 1500sf., then rewired all new circuits. They insulated the walls and installed moisture and vapor barrier. Then installed drywall with trayed ceilings with rope lights concealed behind crown molding. They installed an engineered bamboo flooring. The bathroom is beautiful. My shower stall has pebble tiled floor with custom porcelain tile walls, with an accent strip of stones. They put in two shower niches with three shower heads and two shower valves. with all brushed nickel hardware. they installed a frameless frosted glass shower door. They did excellent work as always. this is my fourth major project by Mike, and I will use them to build my next project which will be a garage!

    Dollman Construction, Inc
We worked with Jimmy Dollman and an interior designer to create a plan for our project. After developing a plan that we liked we hired Dollman Construction to complete the project but we chose to provide our own appliances. The project went better than we expected. We had two small problems - one with a window and another with a cabinet panel but the problems were immediately addressed and didn't cause any serious delays. The house and yard were kept clean throughout the job. I was glad that we were constantly updated regarding what was happening and what to expect next. We love the cabinets, new lighting and the windows in our sunroom. We look forward to enjoying our deck this spring. The job went well and we would recommend this contractor to anyone wanting to remodel or build.

Angie's List edited out 75% of my initial review comments where I went into great detail. If Angie isn't going to post the entirety of my reviews I'll stop posting them.  The grades do fit the DETAILED review I posted.  I'll come back and do it again when I have time to waste.  Excellent job on back door.  Dishwasher:  the cabinet space did not fit the dishwasher....wasn't planned for it but they got it in and put a nice matching cover over the hole beside the dishwasher over the cabinet space next to it.
Neither the owner; Mike Motley; or his helper (who actually does 90% of the work) listen very well.  I had them do a toilet leak job at my house.  I told them what was wrong with it as soon as they came in but the ignored me and talked about it for literally 1 hour.  I watched the clock because I was so frustrated.  I finally got very assertive and insisted they put the seal between the tank flap and the toilet.  This isn't a seal that ever fails but my other contractor put it together wrong so it leaked into the toilet....not into the floor.
I had to just force them to do what I wanted done while they stammered around for a whole hour!
They did a very nice job on the bathroom

Our 6 year old upscale house had a beautiful no maintenance decking on it when we bought it a few months ago, but the deck supports were not installed to code...the 10 foot high deck was only nailed in place and the supporting posts were sitting unattached to the concrete patio. Dollmans crew secured it properly with bolts and anchors and attached the posts properly. They came even sooner than anticipated and completed the job without delay and cleaned up before leaving. Mr. Dollman stopped by later to make sure the job was done properly. I would definitely recommend them.

It went very smoothly.  There were no delays and the workers were extremely courteous and thoughtful. The owner of the company and sales person kept close watch over the project and with what the workers were doing.  Overall, they did an excellent job.

They started the job when they said they would.   They were on time every day and were very professional and courteous to my staff and our clients.  The porch looks wonderful and we are very pleased with the work they did.
We would certainly recommend them to any business as they took extra care to ensure the least amount of disruption to the members of the firm and our clients.
