Auto Service reviews in Saint Paul

I spent quite a bit of money, yes, but not if you divide the price over the number of years that my vehicle received very little service to speak of. And as I said, I knew I had some serious problems.
I've used this shop for several years and have always found the people there to be honest and sensible. When I took the Pathfinder in for this service, I asked for a major tuneup. The manager looked at my records and said he thought I likely didn't need a comprehensive tuneup, given the last date it was tuned up and given my driving habits. But he had hardly gotten through the list of what I didn't need when a mechanic called my attention to the antifreeze that was leaking from my car. The AC hadn't run for a couple of years. Etc., etc. Clearly, I'm not into maintenance (I'm also not into driving). But the Pathfinder has been paid off for a very long time, and I just want to keep it running as long as possible for what little driving I must do.
I don't know how to do a price comparison. I live in a fairly remote area, and this auto service is in a town of a town of a thousand people. One doesn't move to such an area expecting bargains. What I do expect, though, in any area is honesty and integrity, and I think I've found these in this shop. I'm a middle-aged female who has lived in six states, and I've never before had an auto shop talk me out of spending money, as Steve did in explaining why I didn't need a comprehensive tuneup. By the end of the service, I of course wished that a comprehensive tuneup was all that I had needed, given the expense. But I've never felt as though this shop was trying to get me to have unnecessary services done or trying to rack up a big bill. Everyone there seems to be mindful of money (this is Appalachia, not exactly a rich area), and to be very sensible about what should (and shouldn't) be done to keep a 20-year-old vehicle on the road. It's a good group of people, and the longtime receptionist/scheduler/secretary has been extraordinarily kind about driving me home and picking me up when a service visit has been too long to wait for. Her name, Angel, fits in various ways.

Dealer wanted over $1500 as they told me that wheel bearings were in sets and a lot more was worn on front end. This shop was honest and straight forward.
