We were customers of Grass Roots all of 2017. Prior to that our yard was predominately weeds. Now our yard looks great and we are very pleased with Grass Roots' service. We will continue to use them this year and highly recommend this great comany

My experience with Wayne and his team was excellent. Wayne is courteous, friendly and professional. He returned my phone call right away and was able to come out the next day to give me an estimate. I was most impressed by the teamwork of his crew. They seem to enjoy working together, and have each other's backs as they do their jobs. Before starting the job they discussed what needed to be done, how it would be done and what each person would do. Wayne estimated it would be a two day job and it was completed in one day and two hours the next day. They arrived on time both days. My yard looks great now!

The work was scheduled quickly and accomplished in a fast professional way. The process was impressive to watch. The team cleaned the area completely. Our yard looks marvelous! I'm planning on using Scott and Premier Arbor Services for several more jobs in 2017.

I contacted Mr. Cook in October, to request an estimate for sod installation and soil prep beforehand. We had to reschedule the date of the estimate, which required me contacting Mr. Cook b/c he was a no-show on the estimate date, and on my contacting him said he had an injury the day prior. I was amenable to rescheduling, and he did show for the rescheduled estimate date. Mr. Cook provided a reasonable estimate for the work, which I accepted same day, and he said he could do this work for me the first week of November. By the end of November he had not contacted me again, nor completed the work at my home. At this point I consider this another bad experience with a Virginia contractor. In my county I have had several contractors who have failed to show up to perform work, others who have performed sub-par work, and in general I find contractors like Mr. Cook to be lazy, unethical, and showing very poor business acumen. I will not recommend Mr. Cook to anyone else. I posted a rating of my experience on his Facebook page, which he deleted so as to appear that all of his customer ratings are exceptional. What a phony. I will work diligently to let others know of my bad experience with Mr. Cook. He needs to improve his customer service, and learn better business acumen.

Mediocre service. Communication poor. Store had a three week waiting period that was never told to me. It took this store weeks to do simple blade change and spark plug. In the end, they needed to order parts and wanted to keep mower another week. I opted to pick up mower- this is when they decided to sharpen an old blade, put that on mower and change spark plug. Will not shop or use their service again.

We had had him do some work for us before and we thought he was really reasonable. But, we kind of thought he overcharged us the last time. He came during the day, he didn't say it was going to be any specific time. But, he did come out the day that he had promised he would be here. He works by himself. He is okay. He could have either charged less or done more work for what he charged us.

Company reps were prompt for free estimate. They were very polite. There was no pressure. Calls were responded to even over the weekend hours. Tree was taken down and all debris removed in less time than estimated. Outstanding service. Would definitely recommend.

Erik Cook Landscaping installed a paver walkway and faux stone on our house. The faux stone came out great, the walkway not so much. I called Erik back after the black plastic boarder started separating and stones started moving in the walkway. I also let him know that I wasn't happy with the curve on the walkway, it was too rough looking, not natural. He said he would be out in about 3 weeks. It took him 5 or 6 before he actually showed up. They came out and dug into the ground deeper and redid the border, they then covered it up with dirt so it looked better. Once I got outside to look at it I noticed it wasn't as deep as it appeared and you could still see it. They also messed up the curve even worse than it was by taking too much off of it so it isn't even even with the straight part of the walkway. The walkway slants from the start. it is 81in from house in one spot and 2 feet further down it is 93 inches. Erik's excuse was that I told him to follow the gravel walkway. Yes, I told him to follow the gravel walkway but I still expected measurements to be done and the walkway to be laid evenly. There are many problems with the entire thing. Erik came back out yet again and told me that he would not redo the entire walkway and that I should decide want I want fixed and he may work with me to fix it. I texted him after discussing with my husband and let him know that it was obvious we wanted two different things. I wanted the entire walkway redone and he would not agree. I let him know that I wanted the 3300.00 back for the walkway and I never got a response back. I filed a civil claim yesterday with the court for my 3300.00.

I ultimately decided to use a more local company for this project (and the required ongoing maintenance), but Commonwealth Landcare's prices were competetive and Michael demonstrated wealth of knowledge on site regarding Do-It-Yourself lawn care, and I would not hesitate to contact this company for future projects.

I hired this company to maintain my newly installed Sod as i couldn't do it myself due to working out of the country..had a few hiccups but nothing big enough to question dumping the company..All of the hiccups occurred with the office staff (lack of communication and information not getting passed along)..i.e requested grounds crew show up @ my home on non watering days (never happened), when i signed the contract we called in a change on the mulch color from red to black (never happened).. Company placed a fairly large advertising sign on the property ( not a problem with that, problem of where they placed it, directly in my newly planted sod instead of the mulch bed and not giving a head up on the sign @ all)...besides those office issues the actual grounds crew was good
Renewed the contract for a second yr, made some changes and was recently informed that their were cancelling my contract due to them not having enough business in my area (bare in mind I live in a 2-250 home development).. I understand that business is business but i would have appreciated a phone call, especially when I just spoke to their office manager on the phone a week prior to receiving the letter

would have continued to use the company and i appreciated them taking me on as the only customer they had in caroline county, wished more residents would have signed up for their services
