  • Terrible from start to finish, would NEVER consider hiring again, even to install a mailbox post ! We hired Collier Contracting ( Fred "Billy" Collier ) on 08/08/17 to remove and replace vinyl siding, deck boards and stairs and install vinyl handrails. Collier required us to pay $10,000.00 for materials which would be ordered the next day. Work to begin in "4 - 5 weeks". Our check was cashed within minutes of leaving our home. First week of September, after having received no materials nor heard from Colliers, we contacted for and update. We were told that the materials were being delayed by hurricane Harvey and a couple of days later, having a similar excuse and being told that Becky Collier would let us know "as soon as the materials hit the road". Suspicious, we contacted materials supplier and were informed that materials had not even been ordered. We called Collier and demanded a full refund or immediate ordering of materials with documented proof as well as documented work start date and complete date. Promised Start date, 10/09/17 Estimated Complete date, 10/23/17 but work did not actually begin until 10/12. Took 1-1/2 weeks to remove siding and wrap ( 1500 sq.ft. ). Billy and his "helpers" ( I would never refer to them as a "crew" ) worked sporadically, showing up and "working" for 4 or 6 hours or not showing up at all ( with a variety of excuses ). Siding was installed with numerous obvious, amateurish installation mistakes which were corrected only after we repeatedly pointing out the mistakes. As of the date of filing this complaint, there are STILL unresolved siding issues. Deck work was started the last week of November 2017 and boards were installed crooked and uneven. Only after complaining about sloppy work, boards were replaced but were crooked in the opposite direction. Decking was replaced a third time and is now even but still crooked and cracked boards from using the incorrect type and size of screws. Stairs and stringers took FOUR attempts to build correctly. Before they quit the job ( in Breach of Contract ) Collier repeatedly asked for additional money or required us to purchase additional materials throughout job. Against or better judgement to not let them install our expensive vinyl handrails, we allowed them to do the work because the installation instructions are SO SIMPLE that anybody would be able to follow them and do a good job -- turns out that "anybody" EXCEPT Collier. The handrails were installed with no concern for correct installation, even with elementary level illustrated instructions present. The vinyl handrails were cut too short, unevenly spaced, not level and uneven heights. Multiple screw holes in our vinyl posts ( as though they assembled everything by "trial and error" ). Some of the mounting brackets have no screws in them at all ! The handrails can not be "repaired" because they were cut too short, Collier insists that they can be "fixed" but, after living through the nightmare past four months with their excuses, lies, "jury-rigging" and scary sloppy work, we knew that it would only be worse after they were done "fixing" it. Simply put, the handrails must be replaced. Collier has repeatedly demonstrated that he does not comprehend simple, illustrated instructions, and displayed incompetence in all work performed for us.

  • Ivan and his crew arrived on time and were pleasant and very professional. They even gave me a courtesy call beforehand to let me know they were coming! They were super considerate of my household; sheets were laid down if they had to come inside so there would be no paint or mud tracked into the home. The house looks LIKE NEW from the powerwash - I was very glad I got it done before I had my home appraised, as I'm sure it helped with the value.

The porch looks great as well. Almost a year out, and there have been no issues with wear from weather or normal use. The paint was bright and has lasted well. Overall, I'm super happy with their service and would definitely recommend them to anyone who is looking for an interior or exterior paint job on their home or business!

  • Mr. James Barrett and company employees get 5 stars from both my wife and I for a job well done!  After discovering Barrett Painting on Angie's List, I called and made an appointment to discuss the project at my home.  Not long after that, I met Jim and went over all the details of the work to be performed.  I was very impressed with his knowledge and professional attitude.  He studied the painting to be done and wood repairs to be accomplished and gave me what I feel was a very fair price for the job.  Within a few days, we agreed on the starting date.  The paint crew showed up as scheduled and within 4 days the entire job was completed. They always arrived on time and professionally carried out their work.  They consistently had a great attitude and took personal  pride in their work.  The "crew" was very responsive to a few suggestions I made and carried through in a positive manner to job completion.  They were very tidy and always picked up after themselves. There is no doubt in my mind that I will use Barrett Painting for my future needs and highly recommend the company to my friends and acquaintances.

  • Erik Cook Landscaping installed a paver walkway and faux stone on our house. The faux stone came out great, the walkway not so much. I called Erik back after the black plastic boarder started separating and stones started moving in the walkway. I also let him know that I wasn't happy with the curve on the walkway, it was too rough looking, not natural. He said he would be out in about 3 weeks. It took him 5 or 6 before he actually showed up. They came out and dug into the ground deeper and redid the border, they then covered it up with dirt so it looked better. Once I got outside to look at it I noticed it wasn't as deep as it appeared and you could still see it. They also messed up the curve even worse than it was by taking too much off of it so it isn't even even with the straight part of the walkway. The walkway slants from the start. it is 81in from house in one spot and 2 feet further down it is 93 inches. Erik's excuse was that I told him to follow the gravel walkway. Yes, I told him to follow the gravel walkway but I still expected measurements to be done and the walkway to be laid evenly. There are many problems with the entire thing. Erik came back out yet again and told me that he would not redo the entire walkway and that I should decide want I want fixed and he may work with me to fix it. I texted him after discussing with my husband and let him know that it was obvious we wanted two different things. I wanted the entire walkway redone and he would not agree. I let him know that I wanted the 3300.00 back for the walkway and I never got a response back. I filed a civil claim yesterday with the court for my 3300.00.

  • Overall the experience was good, Ryan was great. He understood our needs and even dealt with my mom going back and forth on making decisions. I have two small children so we wanted something that they would not get hurt on. We opted for a trex screened porch and deck with pvc railings. Towards the end there were some little things that needed to be done, that we felt he kind of nickled and dimed us on, but all and all it was a good experience.

  • We removed one of the windows in a bathroom during a recent remodel.  We knew of the difficultly in matching brick and mortar and in reviewing the job with Alan, we discussed options of making it look like a deliberate fill-in (similar to old buildings).  Since this was on the back of the house we decided on having it installed to look original.  Alan did a great job of searching and obtaining bricks that matched our house which was not a very common color.

Since this was an outside job we did not have to be there.  Coming home I was very pleased with the installation and clean-up.  Even though there were bushes that would have hidden finished off mortar hitting the ground, there was none.  After allowing several weeks for the mortar to dry and lighten up, it did not match or come close enough to the original mortar.  I talked to Alan and sent pictures (since I'm about an hour away) and he agreed it was not a good match and would grind out and replace it.  One very important reason besides all of the good reviews of AW Masonry we went with Alan was he stressed how important it was for us to be satisfied with the final work.  He was a man of his word with no hesitation came out reworked the mortar and the final result was exactly what I wanted.  It is very difficult to repair or add on to existing brick and have it blend in so we were hopeful for a close match.  However, he and his crew knocked it out of the park with the rework to the point if you didn't know where the window had been you would have an extremely difficult time finding it.  Couldn't ask for more!!!

  • Mr. Snell provided us with a written estimate after coming to our home to look at the work we wanted done, specifically to repair drywall patches, cracked ceiling seam and nail pops, prep and repaint the interior walls and trim in our home and, caulk as needed. The work, he stated, would be done in three or four days and we were asked to remove our "breakable things" from shelves and mantel and, move everything else to the center of the room -- which we did. Mr. Snell and his helper were completely and totally unprofessional and disrespectful of our home. Nothing about the work that they did could be construed, in any sense of the word, as "professional". Obviously care about nothing more than slopping some paint around our home like a couple of complete imbeciles that didn't have a clue about how to make drywall repairs or apply paint. Repeated written and verbal complaints about damages, sloppy work, and incomplete work were continually responded to with argument or excuses from them as to why this work was "satisfactory" or not covered under the scope of the written estimate ( Example: Estimate was to include repair of unfinished drywall patches, nail pops and caulking as needed. Drywall patches were not finished but painted over unfinished. Nail pops were not repaired because they were within 2" of the wall seam -- per Mr. Snell, only nail pops away from the wall seam were included in the estimate, and absolutely no caulking was done anywhere in the house eve though it was obviously needed ). Insisting that issues be fixed to our satisfaction only led to more incompetent work, cleaning of their incessant sloppiness and additional damage that were have been working -- to this day-- to repair.
Colors-N-More Painting will talk about their "professionalism" and will even pass off "Inspiration" photos on their listings but "Inspiration" is, by definition, "A good idea" not an ability or record of accomplishment. However, I have posted NUMEROUS photos of the ACTUAL slop-job that the did in our home which can be seen by anyone on:

  • The siding is holding up very well and everything seems to be just fine. I think they are reasonable, professional and skilled. I have no complaints with them at all. The pricing was also pretty fair for this type of work. I would hire them again and I would gladly refer them to someone.
