    Initially Ross was very professional and punctual. The tree was brought down on March 17 without any problems, instead of removing the tree he asked if he could leave it for a friend of his to pick up since the wood was usable, and I agreed to that. He also told me that it would be about a month before the stump could be ground because he didn't have a stump grinder available and would have someone else do it, and I agreed to that also. I did get a bill that afternoon for all the services, including the stump removal, which I paid in full. On April 19 I contacted Ross again since I didn't hear anything about the stump. He replied promptly and said he hadn't forgotten me, that I would get a week's notice before they came to grind the stump. On May 31 I contacted him again by email, and told him forget about the stump, and that I wanted the $200 specified for the stump removal returned. I did not get any email back, so I called and left a message on June 9 saying I want the $200 returned, and have yet to hear anything back. I was probably too trusting to pay the entire bill up front, I won't make that mistake again.

    Alex Bowles from Blue Ridge Tree Service provided the initial estimate and performed all work on this service call.  I was impressed with his professionalism and friendly demeanor.  He drove out to my house to size up the job on a Wednesday evening which spared me from having to leave work early which I appreciated greatly.  He provided prompt and clear communication when weather forced rescheduling the day of service.  Alex arrived on time exactly when he said he would, got right to work after going over the work plan with me again and clearly demonstrated that he knows his trade.  After climbing my trees and efficiently providing top-notch service, he also cleaned up the work area of branches and leaves.  Highly recommended, great experience, zero problems.  Thanks again Alex!

    This was my first time finding a service through Angie's List and I couldn't be happier. Charles Wyant called me Sunday night and agreed to stop by Monday morning to look at the tree that needed removing. He arrived on time, sized up the job and gave me a very fair price estimate. He'd had another job rained out and could actually remove the tree that same day. He said he'd be back in an hour with his bucket truck, and I left for work. When I got home that evening, the tree was gone, with zero collateral damage to adjacent trees and bushes. Charles and his crew did a fantastic job cleaning up, too. My driveway and side yard were actually cleaner than when I'd left that morning! I'm more than satisfied with Wyant Tree Service -- I'm totally impressed, and would recommend them to anyone needing the services they provide.

    From start to finish, Miller's was impressive. Sandra was very quick to respond to my phone call (within minutes) which is unique with contractors from my experience. Josh was able to come out the next day and was right on time. Josh was courteous and professional giving good feedback on what I wanted done. The price I thought was very fair compared to what I've been quoted from others. They arrived a couple days after we called them to let them know we agreed to give them our business. They did everything like we asked with no issues. When they left, you would never know they were there except for the mulch pile & neatly stacked logs for the wood stove (both of which we requested they leave for us to use). So yeah, they definitely lived up to the past reviews and I highly recommend them.

    When we called, the customer service contact was very pleasant and took all of our information. They provided an estimate for the work within a short time and scheduled service at our convenience.
    The two gentlemen arrived on time. They asked where we would like the trees to fall, then quickly and safely dropped both trees. They moved the logs out of the yard and into the woods. They also hauled the larger limbs back out of sight. They did a better job than the last cutters. Great job, very professional. Highly recommend.
    The price ($450/tree to leave on the property) was just a little higher than a competitive bidder, but they had such a great reputation, that we felt it was worth the cost to have the job done well. Now that it is done, we feel good about the cost. We will be contacting them again for future work and saved them to our Angie's List favorites.

    I spoke to Mr. Steele and explained exactly what I wanted left over for personal use. He did exactly what was arranged and I had no problems. I had other estimates for this tree to be removed and the quote Mr. Steele was over $1000 cheaper.

    Meriweather Mowing Service
    I really hesitated writing this review. We?ve used Meriweather several times to remove leaves from our wooded yard and they?ve
    always done a great job. They are quick and thorough, and always leave my yard looking immaculate. We?ve never had a complaint. Which might be part of the problem. Because recently, when a problem occurred, I found out how this company really operates.
    In addition to leaf removal, this time I hired them to do storm debris removal and light pruning of our two dogwoods. They arrived and did the work on 9/18 when I wasn?t at home. Unfortunately, there was a miscommunication between the estimator?s written instructions and the crew and one of our dogwoods was left badly mangled. It grows in a ?V? shape and one entire branch (at least 20 feet in length) was cut to just above eye level, about 6.5 feet. This was a branch that previously reached the top of our roof. It will take years to grow back.
    The crew themselves were very apologetic, they stopped back by that afternoon to check on the work and were truly sorry for what had happened. The head of the crew did state that he found the written instructions confusing.
    I then contacted the home office by email, very nicely explaining the situation, and the fact that the crew stopped by, even suggesting that maybe I had not been specific enough, but that the estimator and crew?s miscommunication had resulted in one badly mangled dogwood.
    Their response is below:
    ?I'll come by and check it out tomorrow, although I guess there's not much that can be done.  After almost 25 years in the business I've learned that pruning can be a very subjective thing.  One person can interpret a set of instructions one way and another person another way.  Our estimator tries to be as specific as possible but occasionally results don't match expectations. On the good side, we did get your project done in advance of your deadline.?
    Needless to say, I found this unacceptable and suggested that:
    1) Since pruning IS so subjective maybe he could make sure in the future that his crews and estimators have crystal clear instructions?
    2) Call ahead to make sure I?m home so I can provide direction?
    3) Actually make an appointment to have the work done instead of just showing up within a certain timeframe?
    All very nicely suggested. And all the while hoping he might offer up some kind of compensation in exchange for my badly mangled dogwood in order to keep my future business! But none was forthcoming.
    Several emails followed as well as a phone call that evening of 9/18/13. On the phone, the Meriweather representative continued to be defensive insisting they rarely have complaints, and that pruning is a subjective thing. I continued to reiterate this was not pruning, but a total cutback. The tree is aesthetically ruined. He actually had the gall to ask, ?Well, is it going to DIE or something?? I was appalled. No sir, it?s not going to die but it will be years before it will be balanced. As it stands the tree now leans to one side because the right side of it is completely GONE as you can see from the pictures.
    His response, ?What is it you want me to do? Don?t I get credit for completing your job by your deadline at least?? Now I don?t run his company, but I find it unreal that in 25 years of business he hasn?t had one or two complaints. I expect a business to act professionally. To use a ?How Can We Make This Right?? approach. Not a ?Well At Least I Did It On Time,? approach. It was like pulling teeth getting him to suggest anything that might actually keep me using his company! I don?t know sir, a coupon? Some money off the bill? Anything?
    The gentleman kept coming back to the point about deadlines and scheduling, that they had moved me to the top of their job list because I was close by, because I had a deadline. They are very busy this time of year, just fitting me in should count for something. Besides I had a lot of sticks in my yard in addition to leaves, so his crew did a lot of extra work they didn?t have to do and that should count for something as well.
    Actually no, that?s what I HIRED you to do. Clear my yard. LIGHTLY prune my trees. He couldn?t see that scheduling wasn?t the problem. If you?re too busy just say no, I?ll hire someone else. The problem is you hacked up my tree and you don?t seem to care. No matter what I said to him about the tree, he kept diverting, talking about how busy they were, how he had met my deadline. How he didn?t know what I wanted him to do.
    Additionally, on top of everything else, it turns out there was miscommunication on his part regarding the job estimate! On 9/14 he sent an email clearly asking did I want the estimated job of storm debris removal, tree pruning, and the leaf removal done for $195? I replied yes. I have a copy of this email in my files and can provide it if necessary.
    Turns out this was incorrect. He intended to charge me ADDITIONALLY for the leaf removal! Even though in the email he clearly stated the $195 was for all three things. Needless to say I was pretty upset and suggested that maybe not charging for the leaf removal would be fair compensation. I?m not sure what they?re charging in 2013, but last year it was around $150.
    He quickly agreed, and promised to come out and visit the site to see the tree damage. As of this date, 10/7/13, I have not seen or heard from him. NOTHING. He made it clear on the phone he was ?very busy? but "promised" he'd be out ??sometime tomorrow, I have no idea when.? Now, to my mind if a customer is disgruntled, shouldn?t you clear your calendar and get out there as soon as possible in order to keep their business? Maybe ask, ?What would be a good time for us to meet and look at the damage?? Instead Meriweather intended to fit it in whenever they got around to it. If I was around, fine. If not, also fine. As a customer, this did not make me feel like a priority at all. I hung up the phone very discouraged.
    It saddens me to write this review because we?ve had good leaf work from Meriweather in the past. In fact, I?ve never had to write a bad review about ANY company I?ve worked with in the five years we?ve been in Charlottesville! We?ve always dealt with professional people eager to ?make things right? even if minor problems come up. And this major problem? The whole time, Meriweather acted like it was the nature of the business, it happens sometimes and can?t be helped, and they couldn?t care less.
    To know that Meriweather doesn?t stand by their work and try to make it right doesn?t leave me with a good feeling at all. The attitude, the lack of priority for the customer is disappointing. When you are self-employed (as I am) the customer comes first. Their satisfaction with a job is paramount. To see that lack of care in another small business leaves a bad taste in my
    If you need simple leaf removal, by all means call them. But if something goes wrong, don?t expect a professional attitude. Don?t expect any kind of immediate apology or compensation. Expect a difficult conversation, a defensive attitude, and very little to be done. I shouldn?t have to pull teeth to get satisfaction. The customer is the priority. Not with Meriweather evidently. We won?t be hiring them again.
    p.s. I have taken pictures of the mangled tree and can provide them. I also have copies of the emails sent back and forth.

    Company was very professional.  They showed up promptly at the scheduled time, were very careful with falling the trees close to the house, and did a good job with cleanup.  Would definitely use them again.

    Gordon W Frazier Tree Service
    Gordon W Frazier's tree service did an excellent job for a very good price. They gave a price on a saturday and offerred to do the work the following week. They arrived and completed the work according to schedule.
    They are highly skilled professionals and work very efficiently, also friendly and courteous.
     I was concerned about several large oak trees being too close to the house. I watched the process  of tree removal and had the opportunity to see just how careful and precise they are. The branches are removed quickly and methodically, each one tied, and falling off the tree in a controlled manner so as not to cause any damage to nearby structures. They trimmed another tree and it looks great. I was very impressed with the quality of work and professionalism. They worked as a team, chopping up the branches in a chipper and then cut the wood in fireplace lengths leaving it in neat row in the back yard.
    they cleaned up the branches very well, leaving some sawdust behind. 
    I highly recommend them and will definately call them again if I need any more major tree or yard work done.
