    Carilion Medical Center
Very good. The Clinic itself seems well run and the intake procedure is quick and easy. Waiting room is very large and pleasant. Calling there likewise is never a problem. Getting an appt. on the other hand takes a while. I called recently to cancel an appt. and it took 30 seconds I highly recommend Carillion Clinic.

    Lewis-Gale Medical Center
    Went well.
The labs, they put your form in order as it is filled out so you know approxamitly where you are in the order for service. They were fast and efficient.
Orthopedics went well. Kept the appointmen on time. Doctor asked my opinion of tratment options, listened to me and held my attention when we spoke. He did hands on exams to find the problem. He performed diagnostics test based on what was wrong and if it were necessary.
I would have liked a more detailed explination of what was wrong and why it went wrong and how to fix it. If my diagnosstic test,
x-rays, CT scan, MRI would have been explained to me a little more I would have felt better. Hoewever, I will say that they did a good job of letting e know it was something I would overcome, not how long it would take.
I use Lewis Gale for all of my medical needs and have always had good service, never had an excessive wait time for any appointmen and they always have worked me in when I need it.

already had MRI done prior to visit. assistant wanted to do an xray and when I asked why, was told we do them on all new patients. not a good enough reason so had to wait for dr to explain why it was needed which at first he gave a flippant answer but when pressed for a better answer, he provided one. he did not really explain much but when I went to my chiropractor the next week, the chiropractor explained all the tendons and showed me how they all worked together. better explanation and service than the orthopedic,

    Zelen, Dr. Charles M.
I broke my foot all the way across and it wouldn't heal for two years. He put plates and pins and bone putty in there and I've completely recovered. I had a kidney transplant and I am on immunosuppression drugs. I'm a totally high risk patient, but he was able to do the surgery on me. He has worked on a lot of high-risk patients and he knows what he is doing. I think he's the only man in the valley capable of doing surgery on an immunosuppressed patient.

    Mann, III, Dr. John W.
Dr. Mann is a great doctor. He is a little quiet, but he answers all of your questions and lets you know about all of the alternatives before choosing surgery. I worked with him for about 2 years before deciding to have surgery.
He is a great surgeon, but not a hand holder.

For starters, I always try to schedule the earliest appointment possible, since they seem to start running late by mid-morning. At the most recent appointment, I was ushered into an examining room on time, but after a brusque and unfriendly medical assistant took my info, I cooled my heels for 30 minutes before someone came in to see me. Overall, the environment is very rushed, which results in inefficiency. I was told I could not go to my regular pharmacist to get my prescription because they did not have the capability to fill it. They sent me to a different pharmacy who, when I went over to pick it up, had not received anything from the clinic. I later learned the clinic had called it over to my regular pharmacist after all. I'm still trying to straighten this out. The only positive in all of this is my orthopedic surgeon, Dr. Hagan. He is a very decent and caring man with a good bedside manner. He has performed two carpal tunnel operations which were very successful. I guess that's the bottom line when all is said and done. Still, though I give him an A, I give his staff a D. Let's call it a B- overall.

Excellent outcome! Injured left knee in a bicycle accident, June 2009. Tried rehab, but did not respond to treatment. Decided to surgically treat the injury so that I might continue the sports of golf, hiking and bicycling without pain ( the icepick in the back of the knee). I completed my rehab in six weeks and was back playing golf June 1, 2010. I was extremely satisfied with the entire process from start to finish.

They were really good. He is an excellent surgeon. They are very professional. I was very pleased with the whole thing. He only does surgery if its necessary.
