    Maxfield, Dr. Donna L.
I can't say enough good things about her. I transferred to her after 3 other drs failed to communicate to me what was wrong with my eyes. Maxwell is extremely thourough, is well trained from a schooling standpoint and experience standpoint. She stays up w current medical info. She takes time to listen and communicate w you. Her equipment is up to date. She is honest snd down to earth. She did what 3 drs b4 her failed to do! She is amazing. She also knows her limitations.

    Vistar Eye Center
Horrible. But the services going badly is the dr's fault not the surgery center's fault. Dr did not give me all the information on what was wrong with my eyes before doing the cataract surgery. Needless to say, I won't be seeing that dr any more. As far as Vistar Surgery Center, I had 2 cataract surgeries, one on each eye 16 days apart. I was quoted $3,000 per eye. Well, for the  second eye they billed me more than that and when questioned said their prices went up. And they would not adjust their price either even though I was quoted $3K per eye and the surgeries were 16 days apart and in the same calendar year. While it may be a small $ amount difference in the scheme of things, I am very much a person of integrity and principle and I do not do business with businesses who do not honor their word. And there was no "disclaimer" that said anything about "our prices may change".
Nor would I ever see a doctor who does not communicate very important diagnosis information to their patients. The dr will remain nameless. I did see 3 different drs at Vistar and none of them communicated my eye disease before recommending cataract surgery. For certain 2 of them knew of it.

    Vistar Eye Center
After a couple of visits and some phone calls to check in, the infection cleared up and I was left with a great impression of this doctor and the facility.  I was very impressed with how easy it was to get an appointment.  I'll definitely use her again, and I'll even take my child to see her as well!

    Cotter, Dr. Frank
My experience was years ago. The issue was his "bedside" manner. I could not see right after a new eyeglass perscription was dispensed. So I went back. Three people re-examed me. It was obvious they were frustrated. I was there for several hours. Turns out I was not previously diagnosed with something that impacted my sight (even though my eyes were examed 3 months earlier). That's okay but the manner I was spoken to was unacceptable. So I never went back to him although I continue to go to others at Vistar Eye Centers.

    Vistar Eye Center
I would recommend them very highly. What stands out is their professionalism. The doctor is very good, professional and thorough. They're always very busy. I really haven't had any eye treatment other than routine eye exam.

    Eye Care & Surgery PC
All concerns were addressed. A complete examination was made and the equipment is very modern. The entire facility seems larger inside than from outside which means it has well placed rooms. A lot of thought went into this place. Dr. Eng sat and waited for me and my wife to ask any questions that we had about our eyes. He is one of the few doctors that I have seen that gives his time to address a patient's concerns. That alone made this an excellent experience. The facility is clean and easy to get to with plenty of parking.

    Vistar Eye Center
The staff at Vistar Eye was very cordial and the office atmosphere was very pleasing. The vision exam went well as did the eye exam with the doctor. The prices of the service were in line with other providers. Overall, I would recommend Vistar to anyone seeking ophthalmic care.

    Eye Care & Surgery PC
I  have a lot of eye problems, contacts, eye muscle problems, really myopic vision. Dr Coolbaugh at Eye Care and Surgery takes great care every year to see that I have everything I need to keep my vision in tip-top shape.  The office staff is funny, caring and professional.  Their prices are reasonable and they use my insurance.  The Blue Ridge Optical shop next door that works with Eye Care has a really great staff.  They will go to the wall to get you great glasses at a great price and work with your insurance too.

    Vistar Eye Center
Disgraceful.  This was my second trip to Vistar Eye Centers, and I should have known what to expect.  During the first appointment, I was not seen until an hour and forty five minutes after my appointment time.  Total time for that trip(for a basic eye exam) was nearly three hours from the time I arrived until the time I left Vistar.  I had to wait two months(!) for the follow-up appointment.
I arrived on time for my appointment, and upon check-in, asked the receptionist how long the wait would be.  She proceeded to advise me that the doctor was on schedule, but had three other patients ahead of me.  How is the doctor "on schedule" if I am on time for my appointment and he still has to see three patients?  I asked for some clarification, so the receptionist called to the back, and upon hanging up, told me it would be an hour wait.  That's one hour AFTER my appointment time for a doctor she said was "on schedule".  Another member of the reception staff overheard the conversation and interjected.  She also called to the back, no more than 60 seconds after the first receptionist did, and after laughing with the person on the other end of the line, proceeded to tell me it would be a TWO hour wait.  So in less than a minute, my one hour wait doubled.  It became clear clear that they had no intention of correcting their scheduling error, or making any type of concession to account for it.  When I asked why they schedule appointment times that they are clearly incapable of keeping, she simply shrugged her shoulders.  I elected not to wait, and will seek treatment elsewhere.
Doctor's offices are never on time, but to make a patient wait two months for a follow-up appointment, then to schedule appointments in such a way that patients have to wait until two hours AFTER their appointment time to be seen is reprehensible.

Vistar Eye Center - Jefferson St
The people at Vistar Eye Center on Jefferson St. are great. My father-in-law's surgery went wonderful. The staff is great. My father-in-law does not speak English. He only speaks French. They made sure there was someone to speak French with him. She was with him throughout the surgery. They just spoiled him there. I was amazed at the staff. All the doctors are wonderful. I just can't speak highly enough about them. It was a really wonderful experience. If I could make their score ten A's, I would. Everything was just perfect. Everybody was happy.
