Roanoke Landscapers Reviews

"The strengths of
Roanoke Landscapers Provider Name Locked
included high quality work on patio areas and walls. They do extensive preparation that so far appears to provide a solid foundation for the patio and walls. The ponds they installed are quite lovely and overall we are pleased with the quality of the installation itself. Bill
Roanoke Landscapers Provider Name Locked
provided good input on design. The crew generally worked very hard. In particular one member of the crew took the initiative to build a retaining wall out of rocks available at the worksite that solved a runoff problem exacerbated by the

’ installed masonry walls, but not accommodated by their design.
The major issue we had involved the pervasive lack of supervision of the crew which

to mistakes, including the installation of a gutter within the parking area rather than at the bottom

of the parking area—as we had repeatedly told Bill

. While Bill offered to remove and reinstall the gutter, we would have had a large repair in the parking area susceptible to
generation of potholes in winter, so we opted to leave it where it is. The hardscaping plan included construction of a bench using a marble slab on site. A

employee crushed the marble slab by toppling a

of blocks on it. The marble slab
could have been easily moved prior to placing the

adjacent to it or the

could have been placed elsewhere. We were offered no recompense for destruction of the slab or failure to construct the bench. They also ruptured the water line to the house and cut the underground phone line; both were repaired fairly quickly. Overall the work could have been done much more efficiently if adequately supervised, which would have shortened the time spent on the job and produced fewer mistakes. Several final details were not completed, in particular, the placement of additional decorative stones, which are plentifully and easily available near the construction site. Application of mortar on the front steps was totally inadequate, with dozens of gaps and holes left. While these gaps and holes were readily observable, the installer (
Roanoke Landscapers Provider Name Locked
’s project supervisor) refused to
comply with the our request to look over all the mortar joints and apply additional mortar where needed. Instead,
he initially demanded that the homeowner point out each of dozens of defects. And finally, the crew laid a bed of
gravel alongside the project area to facilitate the movement of their equipment across the bare clay. We now have
an unsightly
Roanoke Landscapers Provider Name Locked
of gravel, in which we suspect nothing but weed grass will grow, alongside the new walkway. No attempt was made to mitigate or correct this gravel bed. A heavy truck delivering material crushed a brick pillar at top of our driveway because the driver turned in the wrong direction. We accepted Green Acres offer to rebuild the pillar and asked that they move it a couple of feet farther from the driveway. Although relocating the pillar would have resulted in substantially no additional work, Bill
Roanoke Landscapers Provider Name Locked
refused unless we paid him to relocate it. We rather thought our forbearance regarding the marble slab and the incorrectly placed gutter warranted some consideration on his part.
In addition, we would have appreciated candor on the part of Bill in realistically estimating the start of the project and the completion. He said he was delayed several weeks by rain. Undoubtedly the unusually heavy rain delayed him this summer. This does not explain or excuse his empty promises of a full work crew for the entire project, including when he would have people on site to correct discrepancies such as the mortar joints mentioned above and an incompetently installed electric cable for the pond pump that caused the pump to stop working. We did not have the full crew for the vast majority of the work, as the
supervisor was offsite doing other jobs or attending to personal matters.
Overall I think they are overpriced and I would probably not do business with them again.

"Always responsive, professional, and timely...and my lawn and shrubs have done quite well for a long time. I also use them on a second property with similar success."

"Our overall experience was outstanding. The initial visit was great, he gave us several different options & ideas to think about before proceeding with a design. We met a second time to confirm everything we wanted within our new landscape. He presented us with a digital design, along with an itemized estimate. Both the design & estimate were a great help by giving us a visual of what our new landscape would look like after completion. They showed up & completed the job as promised. The employees where very professional & courteous. The new landscape & lighting has changed the whole look of our house. We have received several compliments from our neighbors & friends. We would not hesitate to recommend T.J.S Enterprises. They were a great company to work with."

"My mother lives a mile from here and they take care of her yard year round. They do a great job there. They are reliable and personable. Anytime I need anything such as aerating or planting shrubs, they are the ones I always call."

"Very sweet man. he did the landscaping early summer and i recently had a tea party and i wanted him to add fresh mulch. he came out right away and planted flowers on a saturday for me. he's very creative."

"I receive quarterly treatments which include fertilizer, treatment for broad-leaf weeds, aeration, and over-seeding. This year I also had them mulch my front yard beds and around the tree and provide spring clean-up.
I was pleasantly surprised with the spring clean-up and mulching. It made a huge difference in the yard's appearance. I am a little disappointed in the yard's response to the treatments, but that may be more related to the weather than anything they are doing. I plan to continue to work with them as I find them very responsive and easy to work with. I am hoping that together we can get my yard to fulfill my dreams of lushness. Maybe my dreams are too extravagant :)
My interactions with staff, whether by telephone or in person, have always been friendly and professional. My calls are returned promptly. Excellent customer service skills let me feel they are listening.

"The plans, price and overall proposal were fair and timely. The landscape designer, who was also responsible for the oversight, quit the company half way through the job. The CEO came to our home and had the patio ripped up and re-installed. The second patio was much nicer but many of the rocks are loose and because they used the same stone they seem to be discoloring. The CEO never called back or came back out to check if we were satisfied with the repairs. In addition, many of the plants died since they were not properly planted.

"Workers were very professional. Used the material we specified. Workers worked quickly, but also very efficiently. Yard was spotless when they left. They cleaned up all the mess from previous work and took it with them. "

" Up Front Comment: This has been an absolute flawless experience and the job turned out well beyond expectation. Bravo to
Roanoke Landscapers Provider Name Locked
!
Scenario: Last year (2012) we had a new driveway and drainage pipes running under the new driveway and ending 60 feet off to the back yard. Well, as you can imagine there was plenty of loose dirt, rocks, roots and an area void of grass left behind the excavation work. With the weather and winter months coming in we waited until May to get the yard back in shape.
We called
Roanoke Landscapers Provider Name Locked
and met with
Roanoke Landscapers Provider Name Locked
who measured the area in question, explained the process and a quote via PDF was sent out. What I love about this company is that they not only communicate the old fashion way by phone but they also communicate in E-mail with quotes attached in PDFs so that you can conduct business on your smart phone.

The Crew: I am a military man and when they said they would be their at 8:00 am, they were there at 7:50am ready to work. Impressive……… all the vehicles were new looking with very nice vinyl graphic designs. I met
Roanoke Landscapers Provider Name Locked
and his wonderful crew who were ready to work. These folks were the most professional, polite and respectful people you could ever meet. They protected the asphalt with tarps, outlined the ground with spray paint to defined the repair area for my acceptance. READ READ AND RE-READ THIS SECTION: They didn’t just scrape the surface of the existing old dirt; they tilled the area removing large rocks, roots and grass remnants, brought in 5 tons of top soil to lie over the freshly tilled area and leveled the yard for sod. They laid the sod down with each seam butting next to each other in the tightest pattern and used clips to hold certain pieces of sod in areas of the slopping grade of the ground. The owner (
Roanoke Landscapers Provider Name Locked
) came out to see the workers progress and I could not compliment his staff enough. The work ethics that
Roanoke Landscapers Provider Name Locked
displayed for his company was very impressive. Folks, this job came out soooOOOO GREAT, I tipped each worker generously! (Oh, I also bought them breakfast and drinks as well........they were that good !)

Follow up on work performed:
Roanoke Landscapers Provider Name Locked
made follow up calls to see how satisfied I was with the project and reinforced the prior instructions on how to water and take care of the sod. This is customer service over the top !

Comment: I am a retired
Roanoke Landscapers Provider Name Locked
Veteran holding the rank of Colonel. It takes a lot to impress me and it takes a lot to meet my expectations. I have dealt with many contractors for the Department of Defense and many not meeting the minimum standard.

Bottom Line:
Roanoke Landscapers Provider Name Locked
gets the highest recommendation for an outstanding job and especially their attention to detail. In this day and age where many contractors will give you the double talk and tell you they can do this and that and cut corners with materials and labor;
Roanoke Landscapers Provider Name Locked
is genuine and no wonder they are
Roanoke Landscapers Provider Name Locked
Angie’s List “Top” landscaper. I will be using them in the fall to transform my landscaping project for my front yard.

Thank you
Roanoke Landscapers Provider Name Locked
!

PS. They do give a 5% discount for Angie’s List members and not that it is required; this patriotic company offers a military discount. Their way for thanking our military and their families for their sacrafice in protecting our country.
