    Roger Robertson Paving Inc
Roger came and gave a quote to us that was less than I had expected to be. Roger seemed to know exactly how we wanted it to look in the end. He took time to explain and show us pictures of other projects done in this manner. His he called and did the job a day ahead of time. It looked beautiful when finished. It was finished in one day. I will try to put a picture of the job on here later. I recommend him to anyone. He came back that evening to make sure we were happy with the job.

This is the company that you want to seal coat your driveway.
They set up an appointment and when the weather caused cancellation they
followed up and set another appointment.
They arrived on time to complete the job, went about their work and finished in
    less than 1 hour.
Their work was excellent.  They trimmed back the grass, swept the driveway
sealed the cracks, were very care not to spill the topcoat onto the
    concrete apron.
The coating covered the driveway with a complete and smooth coat
    Very professional outfit.
I can' imagine using anyone else next time

    Seal It Right
Called provider on Tuesday and left message that an estimate was needed for our project. Received a call back within minutes and was advised they could be at our house that afternoon. Provider was on time and reviewed the scope of the project to include measuring the driveway and our neighbors driveway as he was interested in getting his sealed also. A written estimate of cost was provided. Called them that night to schedule the work to be done and work was completed on both driveways the next day. The work was completed while we were away from the house at work. Provider returned that evening to verify we were happy with the outcomes and receive payment. We and our neighbor were pleased with the work and the price for each of the driveways. (Our price is noted on this review). We highly recommend this company to anyone as they were fast, courteous, professional, and the work completed was great and better than expected!

    All The Way Paving
We contacted three companies to obtain estimates and All the Way Paving was the only one that physically came out and looked at our driveway, walked us through the whole process, and explained exactly what they were going to do. The other two companies just sent us pricing. One estimate was $2500.00 (outrageous!!) and the other was $1600.00. We hired All the Way Paving on the spot.
They followed through on everything they promised. The workers were extremely polite and professional. They were very conscientious of their work. They fixed the cracking on the edges of our driveway and made sure that the asphalt ran smooth with the sidewalk, garage, and apron. They also used the hot mix (highest quality asphalt). Our driveway has never looked better.

    Danny's Driveway

They came and gave us an estimate and we signed a contract in December, but they warned that the ground was too cold to do it then. This spring, we were apparently at the top of their list. They called, gave us a probable date, and when the date came they showed up and quickly laid the pavement.

We had had tar and chips put down on the whole drive the year before by a door-to-door and apparently incompetent paver, McNeil and Sons, and it had quickly washed away in the rain because the job was very, very poorly done and the approach was not suitable to the steep hill. One of the problems, we believe, was in totally inadequate compacting. Danny's had appropriate equipment and not only compacted with a huge piece of machinery but then went over it with push equipment to finish it. We are very pleased with the job; it's very smooth and it's a pleasure not to go over huge bumps on the hill.

    RNJ Asphalt Company
My neighbor recommended this company as they sealed his driveway and his daughter's driveway.  He said they did a good job and that he would use them again in the future.  I scheduled an appointment for them to come out and estimate the cost of the job and provide an estimate when it could be completed.  At the scheduled date and time (a Saturday morning), they did not show up.  They attempted to leave a message on that date on my work number, which we learned was not allowing messages to be left.  When I called them back, I realized they hadn't asked for and I hadn't given them my home phone number where the work was to be accomplished and where I had been waiting all morning and the early part of the afternoon.
We re-scheduled an estimate time for the following Saturday morning at 9:00 and I provided my home phone number and cell phone number and I was assured this call would be their first call of the day.  At 10:00 I received a call that they were about an hour away.  Two men arrived in a pickup with another paving company name on the side at about 11:45.  The estimator introduced himself as the son of the founder of RNJ Paving and shared that he had been working for his father since he was fifteen years old and that he had been working in the asphalt business for over twenty years.  He provided a verbal quote and a rough estimated of when they could begin work "depending on weather and workload".  He told me that he'd make sure I was satisfied before I paid since he wanted a satisfied customer.  He said he might need to powerwash the driveway to remove some moss growing on a few sections so the sealant would bond better.  He said he would bring a contract on the day they would start work and he assured me that they would call a few days before they would start work.
A few days later he called the house and told my wife that he was coming over "in a few hours" to cut out and replace the section of driveway that had "spider web" cracks.  When he arrived he did not have a contract nor a written estimate, but told my wife that we would need to have cash or a check for him on Saturday when he came back to seal the driveway.  He was rude and demanding as she was on the phone at the time so she was unable to ask questions for clarification as we intended to discuss financing options with him over contract negotiations. None of the options we were considering included immediate payment, but payment by credit card was one option.  The next day I called them to clarify and with the job partially complete was told for the first time that this company had no ability to accept payment by credit card for this capital-intensive job and that I would not need to pay in cash, but that they would accept a personal check.  I informed them that I needed to make special financing arrangements since I do not have that much money available to complete the job.  After I made financial arrangements over the next couple of days, I called him back to confirm that I could have a personal check for him on Saturday.  We scheduled for him to finish the job at 9:00 that Saturday.
On Saturday, at a bit after 9:00 he said he was about an hour away.  Shortly after 11:00 he arrived with his crew and they got their equipment out of the trucks and began work.  Nobody came to the door, no written estimate nor contract was ever delivered.  They use a leaf blowers to clear off the driveway and sprayed sealer on the driveway.  When he came to the door after he had finished the job, he wanted immediate payment.  He wanted to make sure the check was not made payable to RNJ Paving, but he wanted to cash it personally.  I left the payee blank so he could determine how he wanted to draw payment with the check.
I was unable to check the quality of the work until the sealant dried.  They appeared to have used an acceptable amount of sealant, however they sprayed sealant right over the moss on the pavement which he told me needed to be removed prior to application of the sealant.  Within an hour of leaving my house, with the sealant still wet so I had not yet discovered the sealant sprayed on the moss, he asked for the phone number to the financial institution on which the check was drawn.  He confirmed that the phone number he had was the same one as I had provided him.  He was concerned because he could not get anybody to answer the phone there on a Saturday. He called back again to ask where he might be able to cash the check on a Saturday afternoon.  He called again on Monday morning about options for cashing the check.  At one point within a half hour time span when my disabled wife was unable to get to the phone, he left one message and make fourteen attempts, several of them within seconds of each other.  When she finally was able to get to the phone to speak with him, she had to explain the American banking system to him and to explain the various options available for cashing a check in Virginia.  The check cleared my bank that same day.
We will not use RNJ Paving for any future work nor will I risk my personal reputation by offering a recommendation for such an unprofessional company.

    Collegiate Sealers & Paving
Contractor does not service my area.  I chose to contact them because there were no local paving contractors in my area listed in Angie's List, they appeared to have done some work in the area, I worked in the same town where their office is located, so they appeared to be within my commuting distance.

    McNeil And Son Paving
On Wednesday, December 5, either the owner or another company representative came to our door. After a rather strong sales pitch, it was agreed that workmen would return during the afternoon and do some grading on our driveway, at a cost of $400.
When the crew came complete with grader and various trucks and rolling equipment, someone again came to the door with the recommendation that a steep part of the driveway be done with a tar and chip surface to stop the water damage that occurs in hard rains. My husband agreed, but when he went out to check on the work the tar and chip surface had been extended much farther
than had been discussed. The company continued to extend the area covered, after the representative insisted that it needed to be done and that the price would be reasonable because ?he had some tar left from another job on the truck.? The tar left on the truck was also given as a reason for not allowing time to completely discuss the decision.
Bottom line, the work ended up costing $6,000. There was never a contract, only a brief list of the work performed made after the fact. When the cost was figured on a square foot basis, my husband disputed the length used, and brought out the property plat to show that the driveway couldn?t be as long as the measurement used in the computation. The bill was reduced at that point from
$7,000 to $6,000, and the offer was made to also do the surfacing on the parking area?indicating that there certainly was a lot left on the truck after the last job. My husband declined that, but the gravel has already been scraped from it as part of the grading.
The workmen were instructed to put dirt left over from the grading into the low part of the fenced pasture. Instead, they just shoved it off the road onto a grassy area next to the road ? and they did not move it even when they were asked to. Although the dirt is not
a huge amount, moving it would be an undertaking for us, as we are older people.
After we looked over the job the following day, we wrote a letter questioning the business practices as well as the job done, and asking that the owner call to discuss it. This was because we really have no expertise in this area, but just doubted that a good job had been done. Grass was showing through in spots, and deer jumping into the road went straight through to the dirt. The gravel cover was very sparse.
The owner did not get back in touch. There was a very hard rain at the end of January, and there was a fair amount of erosion in the very lightly applied surface. The creek ran over the pipe and across the road, and it is very obvious the cover is not going to hold up.

    Rose Asphalt
Mr. Rose stopped by to offer asphalt maintenance services.  I already had gotten two other quotes to fill in the cracks and apply sealant to the driveway.  His quote was the same as the lowest and he was willing to do it on the spot, so I hired him.  The cracks weren't really filled and the product used didn't dry for a couple of days. But, he told me when he finished the job that he had done the best he could filling the cracks.  This was the first time that any maintenance had been done on the driveway which was laid 4 years ago so apparently the cracks, although narrow, were deep.  The sealant appears to be evenly spread and it dried nicely so, overall, I am satisfied with the job.

    Capital Paving & Sealing Co
All members of the crew worked hard to ensure the job was completed in the timeline promised and in a neat and professional manner. I would recommend Capital Paving and Sealing CO to friends and family and I would not hesitate to use their services again based on the services they provided to me and the quality of their work. Mr. Hancock and his team did an excellent job. I contacted 3 CO for estimates and was please with my choice to use Capital Paving and Sealing and I feel they met or exceeded my expectaions for the project in both quality and price.
