    Ross Tree Service Ltd
Ross' staff were very professional and were very quick to provide an estimate. Their arborist even provided some advice on some adjacent trees on my HOA's property that might affect my home. The crew that conducted the trimming was fast and completed the work uneventfully while I was at work. I'd hire again if needed.

    Ross Tree Service Ltd
The whole process was very easy; after calling to schedule, they were actually able to come out the next day since they were in the area. The staff was very professional and took care to not damage some fragile beds and plantings. Two of the trees were very close to the fenceline, and everything was taken down expertly. One tree was a very large dead tree and it also was taken down skillfully. Everything was cleaned up very neatly; we had asked if they could also take a brush pile, which they did. We chose not to have the stumps ground as the trees were all in the backyard. Overall, an excellent experience and would hire again.

    Tyson's Tree Companies, Inc.
Returned initial call within 24 hrs, had an appraiser out within 72 hrs, then contracted, scheduled, and pruned all within a week's time. I just had to sit back and watch in awe how good these guys were. Highly recommend and will use again.

    The Care Of Trees
We hired The Care of Trees to do two things: 1) treat infested Tulip Poplar trees in the back yard and 2) shore up an aging Redbud tree in the front yard by installing cabling. I was supposed to be contacted by two people - one for the Poplars and another for the Redbud - to schedule the work. The results were good and bad. First, the good: I was contacted by the technician for the more expensive work in the back yard. He arrived on time and worked very efficiently. We have several tall Tulip Poplars in our back yard that were infested with scale and other pests. That infestation caused a sticky substance that was dripping so badly on our deck that it was unusable. The Care of Trees treated the tree trunks and within two weeks the problem was completely gone. Second, the bad: Even though our proposal from The Care of Trees included them addressing an aging Redbud in the front yard (much less expensive work than the work on the Tulip Poplars in the back yard), they blew off the lower-cost work. After I paid the larger bill for the back yard work, we never heard back from them to complete the work they said they would do in the front yard. It's a shame. They did such great work in the back we were looking forward to them completing the work in the front. I graded them a "C" only because they never completed the work. Otherwise, I would have graded them much higher.

    The Arborist Inc
The Arborist Inc. has been our arborist for as long as I can remember. We live on a wooded lot in Reston, VA. We were first-time homeowners when we moved in and knew nothing about caring for trees way back then. Our woodlot had been neglected by the prior owner, so we had to learn about trees quickly. We worked with several arborists in the area and were never satisfied until we found Tim (The Arborist). In the early days, Tim was the only climber. Now he advises his customers and supervises his crews. We never cease to be impressed with the care and skill of Tim and his crew. But perhaps the most important thing to me is Tim's knowledge and love of trees. He will NEVER recommend taking a tree down unless it really needs to come down. And he will never insist on use of a crane if his crew can climb the tree. In the past other companies have refused to do a take-down without rental of a giant crane and tear-down of our back-yard fence. Tim's crew is more skilled and they are able to safely use ropes secured to nearby trees so that they do not need to bring in excessive equipment. He owns a large truck with a very long-reach bucket, and that is often used for convenience, but it is always used from our driveway and does not incur an outside rental fee. Initially, we invited to Tim to bid on a removal of a very large oak. His pricing was so reasonable (much lower than the other two bids) that we gave the work to him. Now we only call The Arborist because we trust his judgement and we value his work so much. We have recommended him to two of our neighbors who have been very pleased with both his work and his price. There are a lot of "tree cutters" out there offering to do work cheaply. But if a tree limb is cut improperly it can kill the tree within a few years. This happened to our neighbor once. The long-term cost of using a cheap "tree-cutter" can therefore be very expensive. This will not happen with The Arborist. Tim is a true, certified, and very knowledgeable arborist. His work will enhance the value of your trees, and in the long run this is the most cost-efficient way to manage your property. When you live amongst the trees, your house and your life depend on the health of those trees. It is crucial to have an excellent arborist. We consider ourselves lucky to have found Tim and his company. We will be happy to serve as a one-on-one reference for The Arborist. Just ask Tim for our contact information.

    Virginia Tree and Landscapes LLC
Vendor initially came out to survey the job site and agreed that the job was within scope of the deal. Tree crew showed up on the appointed day and worked straight through until the job was completed. All debris was chipped on site and hauled away. No damage done to flowers and shrubs that were not being trimmed.

    Newman's Services
Prentice was hired by my father to demolish and rebuild the deck at my parent's home in Reston. Prentice estimated the cost of the work at $3000. He did the demo work, then asked for a $1200 advance to cover materials. He came back and asked for $600 more. My parents paid him by check. It has been three months since the process started, and only the demolition has been completed. He made several committments to come out to continue work and never showed, then in mid-July went missing entirely. My mother has been unsucessful at getting Prentice to respond to her inquiries for the past month. I have also been trying to get in touch with Prentice for two weeks now, hoping to manage the completion of the work he has been paid for in advance, but he has been non-responsive to both me and my parents. His voice mail is still functional - he just never answers the phone or responds to postal or voice mail. We now believe that he has pocketed the money instead of using it to purchase the materials he claimed that he was going to procure, and is ignoring us entirely. Our next option is apparantely to sue in small claims court. I am writing this review to warn potential customers that Prentice Newman is, at best, unresponsive and unreliable, and at worst, he is a criminal, barring some other explanation. This is a shame, because he seems like a pretty friendly guy, but he is quite clearly ignoring my parents, and potentially exploiting them with forethought.

    Growing Earth Tree Care
Professional, knowledgeable and reasonable. Helped me a lot to make a decision on a 40'+ oak tree removal which was heartbreaking to remove. They will work around your schedule and priorities, will take your phone call on a weekend if necessary to answer additional questions and they had options to remove the tree from a difficult location with a difficult access. Their quote on a cost was reasonable, and though I had a lower quote from other company, I picked this one because of their customer service and extra steps they have made to simplify the process.

    Green Vista Tree Care
They got right back with me, both the arborist and the office staff, when I requested an estimate online. We met a few days later and I had the estimate the same day. Daniel was attentive and really figured out how the job would be done. We were given 24 hours notice of when the work was going to be done. The day of the job, they arrived on time with a large crew. They had a small forklift to take the large chunks of the trunks up our steep driveway and placed them on the truck. They were done with the whole job in less than 5 hours. Very impressive. The price was competitive with the other estimates we received, but their professionalism made them a much better deal.

    Blade Runners Inc
The Blade Runners representative, Karen Baer, came to the house to estimate trimming for holly trees in back and Japanese Maple in front, mulch replacement, and a replacement of a small stone patio in back. She was very thorough and pleasant. The work was well done. We are especially pleased with the new stone patio. Thank you.
