    I highly recommend Assisting Hands for any home care needs you may have. My experience has been super positive and their caregivers are wonderful, both caring and competent. Since we had a stroke in our family we have had to use a number of home care providers based on the stage of recovery we were in. This company is our favorite. It can be hard to find the right business to provide these type of services but look no farther you have found the best. I think the owner sets the tone because I have found her and her staff to be very willing to address my concerns and make sure that my experience was 5 star.

    Excellent. With the exception of a couple of CNAs, the CNAS were caring and attentive. The staff at THRIVE AT HOME worked very closely with me to ensure the CNAs assigned to my spouse were a good fit and immediately replaced the ones who were not. In particular, Ms. Marie Woodward (the Head RN), spent considerable time in preparing an appropriate CARE PLAN to suit my spouse. When my spouse was hospitalized (4 times) during this period, Ms. Woodward visited him in the hospital. Throughout my spouse's illness (3 months), Ms Woodward kept in close contact with me to ensure my spouse received first class care. Muriel, the head administrative officer and all of the staff, were available on a 24 hr basis for consultation and readily available for any issues that arose. The billing and attendant paperwork for the insurance company was accurate and prepared in a timely matter. In sum, Ms. Woodward, Muriel and the staff, provided exemplary service and I would not hesitate to recommend this company to care for a loved one.

    I've had very good experience with this company.  Most of the Nurturecare aids are great, a few are average, but some are EXCEPTIONAL.   The company provides excellent customer service and will go above and beyond to make sure they find the right fit for your needs...just be very clear about your expectations. If you are not satisfied with an aid for any reason, they will replace that person immediately. The office management team listens to concerns and they are truly supportive during difficult times.  We now have a regular daily caregiver who is AWESOME!.  She takes good care of both my parents, they love her and she is like part of the family.     We've had some terrible experiences with other care provider companies so I'm so happy to have found Nurturecare.  There are no contracts - you pay as you go and can cancel, decrease or increase services at any time.  The pricing is reasonable.    Finding reliable care for elders can be so nerve wracking and upsetting - I feel Nurturecare really tries to alleviate the stress for family members.   I don't think one can ever find "perfect" in home care situations, but this company is certainly one of the best options out there.

    I used NurtureCare for a couple of years. They communicated, got the job done, and I was happy with their services with my father. The caregivers are independent CNA contractors so I would pay them directly and they would pay NurtureCare a percentage.

    I would not use Right at Home of Northern VA again. I used them for 83 days. There were 11 or 13 different workers in all. They told me I had to have round the clock service with them, but they can't work any more than 8 hours, by law, so I had to have three different people every day. Some or most of these were licensed CNA and some of them were studying to become a practical nurses. They assured me they would only send CNAs. They assured me that the night people would never fall asleep and would always be awake during the night, because that's their job. If my wife had to go to the bathroom or anything and actually slipped, she would probably die, since she already had a broken neck. They assured us that she needed night care for that reason. Frequently, I'd get up at night and check on her, because I was worried about her and more often than not, some people were sleeping. In fact, there were times when my wife would wake up and have to go the bathroom and would have to nudge them or shake the railing on her bed so that they would wake up. I would report this to the project manager. They said they would talk to the employees, but nothing ever came of it. Out of the 13 or so workers, there were three or four who were very nice and dedicated. Some of them called to see how she was doing. There was high turnover rate for their staff. I had to be vigilant all night because I never knew if the worker would fall asleep. It was just a very bad experience. The really good ones would do the dishes in the sink or be out sweeping our porch. Others would just sit there and not do a thing. And the company told us the aides would help with household things if they weren't busy with my wife. If they had not said they would do some housework, then I would not have expected them to do so.

    I deal with them quite a bit. I've dealt with 27 care givers and this one is the best. The owners listening skills were great. He showed me from the beginning that he was very in tuned with what I needed from a medical perspective as well as a companion perspective. They help him with eating, when he falls, and he just get's one on one time which my husband does best with. The second care giver they game me wasn't a match and I don't blame the company for that, it happens. This last one they gave us is a match. The owner and her wife are absolutely sensitive. They are so good we called them for my dad who lives in Delaware hoping they were representatives for how the franchise ran things and it was. They are absolutely incredible.

    Their pricing was reasonable. They listened to what my husband needed. They sent people who were knowledgeable about dementia. They came and stayed with my husband overnight and took good care of him with short notice. We had some financial issues as well and they helped us and gave some good options as well.

    When I fell at 7 months pregnant, it was painful for me to walk, so I couldn't hold up my end of the chores around the house. I was blown away by how quickly Bill Hatfield of Home Helpers matched us up with a helper, and how dead on he was with the match! Our helper was also a mother and could relate to many of the things we were going through. She washed, folded, and put away our laundry. She emptied and reloaded the dishwasher. She played with my 3-year-old daughter and 12-year-old dog. After I had my baby and was able to walk without pain (also after some physical therapy), it was about the time that our helper decided that she was going to move. Bill was ready with another helper, but I thanked him and told him that we would be able to handle things on our own from then on. Bill was very friendly, and our helper made a huge difference in our lives. I stay in touch with her as much as possible even today! I would recommend Home Helpers to anyone who is in need of short-term or long-term in-home care. They're not nurses, but they can help you with the things that you might be struggling to do. For the price, it was well worth it - they were cheaper than most individuals AND they are licensed and insured. Bill trains each helper, and as far as I can tell, he picks wonderful people to work for him.
